We will travel as a group to many historical places within Paris.

Notre Dame - The Notre Dame Cathedral is a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture and one of the most famous landmarks in Paris. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, it features stunning stained glass windows, intricate sculptures, and impressive flying buttresses. The cathedral has been a central site in French history, from coronations to literary fame in Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."

Today the group will visit the famous Palace of Versailles! 

Upon return to Paris, you can enjoy an amazing music festival, explore on your own, or relax in the hotel. 

Palace of Versailles:  8-3pm The Palace of Versailles is one of the most opulent and historically significant landmarks in France. Originally a hunting lodge, it was transformed by Louis XIV into a grand palace symbolizing the absolute monarchy. Visitors can explore its lavish rooms, such as the Hall of Mirrors, and extensive gardens designed by André Le Nôtre.

The Fête de la Musique: The Fête de la Musique, or World Music Day, is an annual music festival celebrated on June 21st. Today we head to Poitiers, France and meet with educators and optional home stay hosts.

Group Activity:

On our way to Poitiers we will stop in Chenonceau for lunch and a visit to Chateau de Chenonceau.

Travel to Poitiers:  known for its Romanesque architecture and historical significance, is a city rich in history and culture. It has been a significant site since Roman times and played a vital role in medieval French history.

The travel time can be used to discuss the historical and cultural importance of Poitiers, preparing students for their visit.

Welcome Reception with Hosts in the Evening: Upon arrival in Poitiers, a welcome reception will be held with local hosts. This event provides an opportunity to meet and interact with local residents, fostering cultural exchange and building new friendships. 

If you would like a homestay option with a family (the families are those of local educators), you will indicate that on your registration.

Today is day 1 of our school visits.  We will connect with local educators and students

School Visit: The day will be spent at a local French school where participants will have the opportunity to observe classes, interact with students, and engage in discussions with French teachers. Free Evening in Poitiers (4:00 PM Onwards)-  After the school visit, participants will have free time to explore Poitiers at their own pace. This medieval city is known for its Romanesque architecture, historical landmarks, and vibrant street life.

Today is day 2 of our school visits.  We will connect with local educators and students

Today we will take a day trip to Zermatt!

We will head to the train station and take a morning train with our guide to Zermatt. 

Group Activities:

Today we visit Zermatt, nestled in the Swiss Alps and dominated by the iconic Matterhorn peak. This beautiful area promises a magical experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. 

Matterhorn: Begin your visit with a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. 

Take a ride on the Klein Matterhorn cable car Gondola (Extra cost- see Add ons). 

Capturing the sunrise or sunset here makes for a truly memorable experience.

Educator Takeaway: Observing the Matterhorn up close allows you to appreciate geological formations and alpine ecosystems. This experience highlights the importance of mountain preservation and the impact of natural landmarks on local culture and tourism.

Today we will take another day trip to explore Jungfraujoch and Interlaken!

This is a full day group activity, leaving around 9am and returning around 8pm.

Group Activity:  

 Jungfraujoch: Jungfraujoch, known as the "Top of Europe," is the highest railway station in Europe, located at an altitude of 3,454 meters. The journey to Jungfraujoch involves a scenic train ride through tunnels and across snowy peaks, offering breathtaking views of glaciers and mountain ranges. At the top, you can explore the Ice Palace, enjoy panoramic views from the Sphinx Observatory, and walk on the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps.

Exploring Lucerne on foot is a delightful way to immerse yourself in the city's medieval architecture, charming waterfront, and stunning lakeside setting.

In the morning, we will take the train from Bern to Lucern

When we arrive in Lucern, we will enjoy a walking tour. 

Group Activity: 

2-5pm Walking Tour of Lucern- Lucerne is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and its picturesque location on the shores of Lake Lucerne, amid snow-capped mountains. Key sites include the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), a wooden bridge dating to the 14th century, and the Water Tower, which has served as a prison, watchtower, and treasury. The Old Town (Altstadt) is filled with colorful frescoed buildings, narrow cobblestone streets, and historic landmarks such as the Musegg Wall.

Evening Cruise:  2 hours and 30 minutes (Optional, Extra Cost- see add ons)

Experience the natural spectacle of a radiant sunset over the towering peaks of Central Switzerland. Let the tranquility of the lake and the majesty of the mountains do their bit, while the stately steamboat or the vessel "MS Diamant" gently glides over the waves. A dinner with a show featuring the Alphorn offers a unique blend of traditional Swiss culture, music, and cuisine. 

As the multi-course meal begins—featuring Swiss delicacies such as cheese fondue, rösti, bratwurst with onion sauce, or a rich Zürcher Geschnetzeltes—the evening comes alive with the resonant, hauntingly beautiful sounds of the Alphorn.
