Welcome to Rome, a city packed with ancient Roman landmarks and more modern highlights. We’ll be met at the airport by our motorcoach and local guide and embark on a panoramic city tour as we make our way to our hotel in the heart of Rome. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore this magnificent city! Consider making the short walk to the admire the Spanish Steps, the widest stairs in Europe, and then head to the Trevi Fountain to toss in a coin backwards over your left shoulder to wish for your return to Rome. More than $3,000 is thrown in the fountain every day, and the money goes to a local charity that supports the homeless. For dinner this evening, there are so many spectacular eateries nearby. You won’t need to go far to find a fantastic meal!

The morning is yours to continue exploring Rome. The Pantheon is always popular, as is the beautiful Baroque Piazza Navona. The piazza has it all: three glorious fountains, Bernini sculptures, a lovely outdoor café scene, and the magnificent Sant'Agnese in Agone church. Or shift your focus to antiquity and explore the ruins of one of the greatest empires of all time as you venture to the Colosseum, arguably the world's most famous arena of entertainment, and the Arch of Constantine, the largest and triumphal arch in Rome. There’s also Palatine Hill, the location of the imperial palace complex; the Imperial Forum, famously built by Julius Caesar; and Trajan's Column, which reads like a scroll descending from the sky and depicts the victories of the emperor who commissioned it. Another option is the country within a country built to enclose a single complex – the Vatican. The areas open to the public include St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s Square, and the Vatican Museums housing over three hundred galleries filled with art representing all the greatest expressions of genius, from Etruscan, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman to Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces. The contents of the collection are unparalleled, but the real draw are the rooms themselves. With interiors by greats like Raphael and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo, no better examples of Italian art exist elsewhere in the world. This afternoon we will transfer to the port to board the new Celebrity Beyond. We’ll spend our evening discovering all the Beyond has to offer before we set sail on our exciting cruise through the Mediterranean.

According to myth, Poseidon honeymooned on this picturesque Greek island – and it's easy to see why. Its breathtaking natural landscape and long history as an artistic and cultural hub make Corfu one of the most cosmopolitan and captivating of the Greek Isles. Wander through the cobblestoned streets of Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or soak up some sun on one of the island's many beaches.

This Grecian port city of Katakolon is the gateway to one of the most important   sites in the world, the ruins of ancient Olympia, the home of the original Olympic Games. Olympia has preserved both athletic and mythological monuments, many dating back to 776 BC. Most intriguing is the stadium, which is still standing, and the gymnasium. As the birthplace of the Olympics, the great stadium still echoes the cheering of the first superstars of sport. Enter the stadium and pose in the marble starting blocks where the first marathoners once stood. Take a scenic drive through the small Greek villages on the way to Kouroutas Beach and spend three hours relaxing under the sun, swimming, and soaking up a perfect Greek beach day. Soak up the gorgeous Katakolon waterfront views while savoring traditional Greek specialties, like pastitsio or moussaka at one of the quaint tavernas and cafes offering shady outdoor tables. And of course, an abundance of calamari and other fresh seafood brought in by local fishermen are always on menus.

Established 1,300 years ago on the far southern tip of the Dalmatian Coast, this city once rivaled Venice in terms of its importance. Take a walking tour to the Dominican Monastery and marvel at the finest collection of Renaissance paintings, including a painting by Titian. Prepare to be riveted when first laying eyes on the old walled city of Dubrovnik. This land has had many invaders including the Greeks, Romans, Slavs, Hungarians, and French, to name a few, and it has resulted in a fiercely independent citizenry with dynamic cultural influences. The views of the Adriatic from its rooftops are truly awe-inspiring. If beach-going is on the agenda, make sure to wear appropriate footwear as the beaches here tend to be of the pebbly variety. That said, the beautiful emerald green waters and coves make the slight inconvenience more than worthwhile. And, there’s plenty of seafood, specifically mussels and oysters, deliciously prepared in authentic regional styles on offer at restaurants throughout town.

Kotor offers up some of the most well-preserved architecture in all the Adriatic coast, with landmarks such as the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon. Built in 1166, there are frescoes dating back hundreds of years, and much of the gold and silver relief work done by the city's master craftsmen of that time are held for safe keeping within its walls. Tucked at the secluded tip of a tranquil bay and watched over for millennia by the surrounding mountains, Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage treasure. The town’s history dates back before the epic age of Homer, but it’s the medieval wonders in Old Kotor that draw acclaim today. Marbled avenues meander with no apparent order, and, even for locals, it’s quite common to get turned around. The good news is, few places are more fun to get lost in than Kotor. Cruises to Montenegro would not be complete without sampling the local cuisine. Fresh seafood is always on the menu and the “domestic fish thick soup” is a tradition not to be missed. Old churches, shops, and bars line the avenues, and don’t be surprised to wander upon a charming piazza right out of the blue. Come summer, the lavish yachts of the ultra-rich fill the marina, presenting a striking contrast to the

rustic romance and ancient beauty of Kotor.

Sicily contains a magic and mystery unlike any other destination in Italy. Both cosmopolitan and rugged, island life here offers a fascinating combination of fishing communities, tiny towns, and beachy resorts. Located in northeastern Sicily on the slopes of the Peloritani Mountains, Messina is an ancient place with a fascinating history. Taste an authentic cannoli and spend the day touring the historic churches and piazzas that give the city so much local color, like the mythology-rich Fountain of Neptune or the nearly thousand-year-old Cathedral of Messina. Or consider an excursion to Taormina, known as “the Pearl of the Mediterranean,” to explore this medieval village and enjoy a scenic cruise to the magnificent Blue Grotto!

Today we are in for a real treat as we embark on a private excursion to Sorrento to participate in an authentic Italian cooking experience with a local farm family. We will tour the beautiful gardens and farm, enjoy a unique mozzarella demonstration, and then learn how to prepare a typical Italian lunch. Of course, we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of our labor as we dine on delicious potato gnocchi, tomato sauce, potato crocche, eggplant parmigiana, and ricotta cheese cake!

La Spezia, Italy, is a stunning town not far from some of Italy’s most famous cities like Pisa, Genoa, and Florence. It is located just minutes to the east of Cinque Terre – the five fishing ports that enjoy global fame. The town also offers fantastic shopping opportunities, as well as plenty of trattorias to enjoy local Ligurian cuisine. Consider journeying back in time to discover the art, culture, and architecture of the Renaissance on a grand tour to two of Europe’s most culturally influential cities, Florence and Pisa!
