Ghana is ready for you. The roads are waiting. The students are waiting. And somewhere on a long, open stretch of red-dirt road with the equatorial sun on your back and the sound of a community cheering you forward, you will understand exactly why you came.
Ride Ghana. Give Back. Ride On.
Imagine trading your everyday routine for the rhythm of two wheels rolling across one of West Africa's most vibrant and storied nations. This is not simply a cycling trip — it is a journey of connection, culture, and genuine community impact, set against the living, breathing backdrop of Ghana.
Developed by Global RideAway and REC Advisory Group and proudly supported in principle by the Ghana Cycling Federation, this carefully crafted cycling vacation weaves together unforgettable riding experiences with a mission that extends far beyond the finish line.
This is cycling with a conscience. This is Ghana.
Donate a Bike. Change a Life.
At the heart of this entire experience is a simple, powerful truth: a bicycle can change a child's world.
In rural parts of Ghana, the distance between a student's home and their school can be the difference between attending class and staying home. Long walks on unpaved roads, hours lost each day, and the physical exhaustion that arrives before the school day even begins — these are the quiet barriers that limit potential and widen inequality.
The Bicycle Education Empowerment Program (BEEP) exists to remove those barriers, one bicycle at a time. Through your participation in the Ghana Cycle Vacation, bikes will be donated directly to students in rural Ghanaian communities — physical tools of empowerment that arrive not from a distant charity, but from the collective effort of cyclists who rode Ghanaian roads and chose to give something back to the country that welcomed them.
This is what makes the RideAway: Ghana vacation different from any other cycling trip in the world. You are not just riding. You are contributing to a legacy.
This trip includes some walking, long drives on winding roads, and navigating through busy areas, so travelers should be prepared for a bit of adventure — planned and unplanned.
Those with significant mobility challenges may find it difficult to manage this itinerary, but we will do everything in our power to make activities as accessible as possible.

There is something undeniably magical about a city when the sun goes down and the streets come alive with light, music, and movement. Your Ghana adventure begins with an electric City Night Ride through the illuminated heart of urban Ghana, where colonial-era architecture stands shoulder to shoulder with modern hustle, and the warm glow of street vendors and roadside chop bars lines your path like a welcome parade.
Riding with fellow cyclists through the cooling evening air, you will experience the city's neighborhoods in a way no tour bus could ever offer — at eye level, at human pace, fully immersed. Music drifts from open doorways. Children wave from stoops. The city breathes around you.
This ride serves as both your welcome to Ghana and your introduction to the local cycling community. It sets the tone perfectly: joyful, social, and alive with the energy of a nation that embraces its people warmly and without reservation.
Highlights:
Guided evening route through iconic city landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods
Introduction to local cyclists and cycling culture
Perfect warm-up ride for the adventures ahead

From the bold, comforting flavors of dishes like jollof rice, kebabs, and groundnut soup, to the sounds of street music and the stories in every corner of the market, prepare for a full-sensory adventure.
We’ll visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan African Culture before taking a trip to local fabric shops, where you can peruse vibrant, locally-woven textiles and, later, get measured for custom-made pieces by skilled Ghanaian tailors. Whether you're dreaming of a bold kente jacket or a flowy Ankara dress, this is your chance to take home a truly personal piece of Ghana.

Akwaaba. You are welcome.
In Ghana, welcome is not just a word — it is a feeling, a gesture, an embrace. And tonight, we are wrapping you in all of it.
The roads can wait. The miles will come. Before the sound of a community cheering you forward fills your chest with something you didn't know you needed — there is this moment.
This is your first taste of Ghana's legendary spirit of welcome, and we are leaning all the way in.
Step into an evening alive with music, color, and the electric energy of a group of extraordinary people about to do something extraordinary together. Let the rhythm move you. Let a handcrafted cocktail — kissed with the bold, bright flavors of West Africa — find its way into your hand. Graze, laugh, wander, and when the music pulls you, let it. Capture the moment at our photo station, because you will want to remember the night it all began.
This is your welcome. THIS is Akwaaba.
Around you are the cyclists, dreamers, and changemakers who will share every sunrise, every red-dirt road, and every triumphant finish line with you across Ghana. Look around the room — these are your people now.
And woven into every laugh, every clinking glass, and every beat of the evening is the mission that brought you all here: the Bicycle Education Empowerment Program.
Ghana is ready. The roads are waiting. The students are eagerly anticipating.
But tonight? Tonight belongs to you!
Akwaaba. Welcome home.

The Ultimate Ghana Cycling Experience
For those who came to truly test themselves against the Ghanaian landscape, the Signature Event Ride is the defining moment of the vacation. This is your 25-50-75-or 100mile-plus flagship route — the ride that gives the week its heartbeat, its story, and its bragging rights.
Carefully planned in collaboration with the Ghana Cycling Federation, whose technical team is engaged to ensure the route meets national and international cycling standards, the Signature Ride takes you through the soul of the country. Expect rolling terrain that challenges your legs, sweeping rural vistas that reward your effort, and communities along the route that will cheer you forward with a warmth that makes every hill feel worth climbing.
This is not a race. It is a statement. A statement that you came to Ghana not as a tourist passing through, but as a cyclist fully committed to the experience — and fully invested in the impact that your journey generates. Every kilometer you complete is a kilometer ridden on behalf of a student in rural Ghana who will receive a bicycle through the BEEP program, changing the geography of their daily life entirely.
Route planning, logistics, and safety protocols are being developed with direct technical guidance from the Ghana Cycling Federation, ensuring that every rider is supported, every stretch of road is properly vetted, and the experience delivers on every level.

Roll Through Living History and Natural Beauty
Ghana's botanical heritage is extraordinary, and your Botanical Garden Ride places you directly within it. This mid-tour experience takes cyclists through lush, carefully tended grounds where towering mahogany trees form cathedral canopies overhead, rare tropical flora lines quiet pathways, and the air carries the clean, green perfume of a landscape that has been cultivated and celebrated for generations.
Beyond the gardens themselves, this ride winds through surrounding green corridors and scenic rural edges, offering a peaceful counterpoint to the city energy of your opening night. Here, the pace invites reflection. You are reminded that Ghana's beauty is not only in its people and its cities — it lives equally in its land.
This ride is accessible for cyclists of varying fitness levels, making it an ideal shared experience for the entire group. It is also a ride that many participants describe as quietly moving — a chance to absorb where you are, what you are doing, and why it matters.
Highlights:
Scenic route through world-class botanical grounds and green surrounds
Accessible terrain suitable for all fitness levels in the group
Opportunity for photography, reflection, and natural immersion
Approximately 40–60 km with gentle elevation
Having reclaimed your place within the continuum of African history, it is time to pay our respects at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, dedicated to Ghana’s founding father and first president. This beautifully landscaped national monument offers a powerful glimpse into Ghana’s journey to independence and honors a legacy that helped shape not only a nation, but the broader African continent.
We’ll then make our way to the Accra Art Centre, where you can test your bargaining skills in a lively marketplace brimming with handcrafted treasures, vibrant textiles, and local artistry. Don’t worry if the negotiations get spirited—our team will be nearby, ready to jump in, help you secure the perfect find, and perhaps applaud your haggling finesse.
After the market adventure, you’ll return to refresh, recharge, and prepare for one of the trip’s signature social experiences: the Celebratory White Party.
You rode through it. You sweated through it. You showed up — and you changed lives.
Now it's time to celebrate. This is not just a party. It's a standing ovation for every rider who said yes to adventure, yes to impact, yes to Ghana. Tonight we celebrate — together, on the sand, in white, with the ocean at our backs and the whole continent in our hearts.
We're bringing the spirit of Ghana straight to the shoreline for a beachfront White Party — equal parts celebration, elevation, and pure unapologetic JOY. You showed up for Ghana. Now Ghana shows up for you.
DRESS THE PART. All white everything. Breezy linen, flowing goddess, crisp elegance — show up like you just conquered West Africa, because you did. Kente accents, bold jewelry, headwraps? Absolutely. Come dressed to be remembered.
EAT LIKE ROYALTY. Bold, aromatic, soul-deep West African flavors that honor the communities who cheered you forward. Every bite is a tribute. Every flavor is a memory.
SIP SOMETHING SPECIAL. Handcrafted West African-inspired cocktails, built for this moment. These are victory drinks. Cheers accordingly.
THE MUSIC WILL MOVE YOU. Afrobeats. Highlife. Afro-fusion. The kind of music that doesn't ask you to dance — it commands it. The soundtrack of Ghana, rolling across the water from sundown to the final toast.
STRIKE YOUR POSE. Immersive African-inspired photo experiences worthy of every single moment. Gather your crew. Find your light. These are the photos you'll show people for years.
You rode Ghana. You gave back. Now ride into this celebration like you own it.
White attire required. Extraordinary energy mandatory.

Prepare yourselves with an overnight bag; we return the following day.
After breakfast, we will set off as our journey through Ghana continues with a deeply moving visit to Assin Manso and Cape Coast, where we will confront the powerful and emotional history of the transatlantic slave trade while also embracing the resilience and royalty of our ancestors. In Assin Manso, we will visit the River of the Last Bath, where captured Africans took their last bath before being sold and shipped across the Atlantic. Standing at this sacred site, we honor the memory of those who endured unimaginable hardships and reclaim their legacy as descendants of kings and queens.
The River is a prelude to visiting Cape Coast Slave Castle, as we will be following the route taken by the ancestors of many African Diasporans.
We’ll explore the haunting beauty of Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the darkness of history meets the light of remembrance. The castle’s dungeons and the “Door of No Return” remind us of the painful past, but as we walk through these historic spaces, we also celebrate the resilience, dignity, and strength that have endured through generations.
Lunch will be provided.
Dinner on your own.
Kakum National Park offers an unforgettable encounter with Ghana’s lush tropical rainforest. Located just outside of Cape Coast, the park is best known for its iconic canopy walkway—a suspended bridge system that stretches high above the forest floor, offering breathtaking views and a thrilling perspective of the treetops.
Guided by local experts, you'll learn about the park’s rich biodiversity, including rare plant species, butterflies, and the elusive forest elephants that roam the dense undergrowth.
The walk through Kakum isn't just a nature excursion—it's an immersive experience into one of West Africa’s most important conservation areas.
Whether you're an adventure seeker or a nature lover, a visit to Kakum is both exhilarating and enlightening—connecting you to the beauty, serenity, and ecological significance of Ghana’s wild side.
Thursday, February 18, 2027
After breakfast and hotel check out, we will visit to Elmina Castle, one of the oldest European structures in sub-Saharan Africa, originally built by the Portuguese in 1482. Perched along Ghana’s scenic coastline, the castle offers a striking contrast between its serene exterior and the powerful stories held within its walls.
During the tour, guests will explore the castle’s courtyards, governor’s quarters, and the haunting underground dungeons where thousands of enslaved Africans were held. A visit to the infamous “Door of No Return” provides a deeply moving moment of reflection, marking the final passage for those forced into the transatlantic slave trade.
This experience is both educational and transformative—offering insight into Ghana’s historical role in global trade, the impact of colonialism, and the enduring legacy of resilience. Visitors leave with a deeper understanding of the past and its connection to the present.
During our trip back to Accra, you will continue to absorb the impact of the tumultuously trod road of our ancestors and be reminded that you are of resilient and persevering people.
As a lifelong reminder- we are pleased to share one of the most unforgettable moments of the journey- taking part in a Ghanaian naming ceremony. Led by a village chief/queen mother, this sacred tradition will welcome you into the community in a way that few travelers ever experience. Stand alongside one another and village locals as you receive your Ghanaian name, symbolizing your connection to this land, your acceptance into the community, and your bond with the people you’ll never forget. It’s more than a ceremony—it’s a homecoming.
Snacks will be provided.
Dinner on your own.
Prepare yourselves for full day!
We will head out early in the morning to catch a flight to Ashanti Kingdom! After breakfast, we will head to Kotoka International Airport to board a flight to Kumasi. Upon arrival, we will visit The Manhyia Palace Museum. The museum is a historic museum located in Kumasi and situated within Manhyia Palace first established in 1925 as a private residence for the Asantehene Agyemang Prempeh I.
Additionally, you may try your hand (and foot) at kente weaving, as we engage in a tour and demonstration at the Bonwire Kente Village; known as the original home of the colorful fabric.
If weaving isn't your artistic calling, perhaps creating colored dye and stamping fabric will be more your speed. Let's find out together through a tour and demonstration at Ntonso Craft Village—Adinkra Stampers.
If time permits, we may tour the Okomfo Anokye sword sight where the golden stool of the Asanteman descended into the laps of King Osei Tutu I. The sight was predicted by Okomfo Anokye to be a healing place for millions of people. As well as paying a visit to the Nana Prempeh II museum and Kumasi cultural Centre.
We will take the last flight, returning to Accra late in the evening.
