About this trip

 Join us for a stress-free travel experience! Our trip leaders will be with you every step of the way, from meeting you at the airport on arrival day to ensuring a safe transfer on departure day, and everything in between. We’ve got you covered!


Embark on a captivating journey to Greece, where history, mythology, and stunning landscapes come to life. We will explore the Acropolis and other ancient wonders in Athens and bask in the sun-kissed beauty of Santorini, while connecting  with fellow teachers.

This trip includes visits to the ancient sites of Delphi, Mycenae, the Corinth Canal. the Parthenon, Temple of Athena and more! We will also head to Santorini for a few days to bask in the beautiful Greek glory of the volcanic island. 

Our trip will also include an amazing trip to watch the sunset at the Temple of Poseidon as well as a chance to learn about the Greek education system with Greek educators!  

There are also side trip options to the massive cliffs of Meteora & a catamaran cruise to more Greek  islands. 


Whether you're captivated by ancient tales, craving the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, or simply seeking inspiration, this trip promises an educational adventure that will ignite your teaching spirit and broaden your horizons.. Note** Itinerary Subject to Change**


Professional Development: You will have the opportunity to meet local educators. For this trip, there are no school visits scheduled, as it is one of our ancient civilizations tours. Learning about a new culture and making connections with educators provides an authentic learning experience for you to reflect on and bring back to your classroom. Our trip leaders will work with you to construct ideas for bringing ancient civilization to life for your students. You will be given a professional development certificate for 20 hours of professional development.

Welcome Reception (Hotel Rooftop): Enjoy a panoramic view of Athens while mingling with fellow educators and discussing cultural expectations for the trip.

Day 2 - July 8

The Acropolis & Surroundings

Free Morning (Optional Side Trip- Food Tour) 

(You can use your included Athens attractions pass to visit sites on your own)

 

Included Group Activities

In the afternoon- As a group, we will explore: 

Meet at 3pm

Acropolis, Acropolis Museum & Agora: Explore the iconic Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and marvel at the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. Visit the Acropolis Museum to delve deeper into ancient Greek history, art, and culture through its impressive collection of artifacts. The Agora was the political and commercial center of the city, where democracy and philosophy were born. With this tour, you cover the history of the peak of Greek civilization (classical times). This is a four and a half hour walking tour.  


Educator Takeaway: Analyze the architectural and artistic elements of the Acropolis and the museum's collection. Discuss the historical significance of these sites and their impact on Western civilization.

Optional Activity (additional fee) 

Athens Food Tour ( 10:30 am -1:30pm 3 hours)Appease your appetite for traditional Greek food during this half-day small-group culinary tour in Athens. Follow your guide to 10 carefully curated specialty food shops, located off the beaten path in residential neighborhoods, to taste Athenian delicacies such as honey, spices, sweets, cured meat, cheese, and olive oil. Finish your tour with a taste of the much-celebrated Greek souvlaki. This tour is limited to 12 people or fewer to ensure an intimate atmosphere; all tastings are included.

  • Stroll through off-the-beaten-path residential areas with your guide
  • Visit local bakeries, restaurants, specialty shops, and an open-air market
  • Taste traditional foods and ingredients such as souvlaki, honey, olive oil, and Greek coffee
  • Small group of 12 people or fewer ensures a more personal experience

Day 3 - July 9

Day Trip to Delphi

Today we will take a full day trip to the famous site: Delphi!


Group Activity:

Day trip from Athens to Delphi

This is a full-day trip with a professional Greek Guide. Lunch is provided.


Delphi is known as the center of the world and it was the most famous oracle of ancient times. You will see the ruins of Athena and Apollo sanctuaries, all the impressive dedications of the people, and hear interesting stories about the procedure of prophecies given. We will visit both the site and the museum and then we can enjoy lunch in one of the traditional tavernas before returning to Athens. 


Educator Takeaway: Explore the religious and cultural significance of Delphi in ancient Greece. Discuss the role of oracles and prophecies in Greek society and mythology.

Day 4 - July 10

Day Trip to the Peloponnese Region

Today we travel to the Peloponnese Region! 


Included Group Activity:

Day trip from Athens

This is a full-day trip with a professional Greek Guide.  (Around 9 hours) Lunch is provided.

We will begin our enriching day in the Peloponnesus region at the Nemea Archaeological Site and Stadium. This historic location, once the site of the Panhellenic games, offers opportunities to explore the roots of Greek athletic traditions while reflecting on the cultural and social significance of sports in ancient education.

Next, we will head to Nafplion, a charming coastal town steeped in history.

 Choose from two castle explorations: either climb to the impressive Palamidi Fortress perched atop the hill, rewarding you with panoramic views of the Argolic Gulf, or take a tender boat to Bourtzi Castle, nestled on a small island in the middle of the port, for a more maritime perspective.

 We will then take a leisurely walk through Nafplion’s traditional area and immerse ourselves in the rich culture and architecture that narrate Greece's storied past. 

In Nafplion, we will enjoy a group lunch at a delightful restaurant, offering both culinary and scenic delights.

On the return journey to Athens, we will stop at Epidavros to visit its iconic ancient theater. Renowned for its stunning acoustics and architectural brilliance, the theater provides a gateway to discussions about ancient Greek drama, performance as pedagogy, and the societal role of storytelling.

Day 5 - July 11

Cape of Sounio: Temple of Poseidon

Morning/Early Afternoon- Today you will enjoy a free morning and early afternoon in Athens. 


(You can use your Athens attractions pass to visit sites on your own)


Included Group Activity:

Leave at 3pm together from the hotel in van
Cape Sounio-
In the late afternoon, we will drive through the Athenian Riviera to reach the Cape of Sounio. There, on a cliff coming out of the sea, is the Temple of Poseidon. The view from there at sunset is amazing. This is a four-hour tour.    


Return around 7:30pm


Educator Takeaway: Analyze the architectural features of the temple and its location. Discuss the mythology and symbolism associated with the god Poseidon.

Day 6-July 12

The Island of Santorini

Today we will leave for the airport in the early morning as a group to fly to Santorini!

(Only take a carry-on bag (25 pounds or less) and leave the bulk of your luggage in our hotel luggage storage in Athens, since we will return to Athens.)

 

 630sm-9:30am- Breakfast

10:15am Meet in lobby 

10:30am transport together to airport

11:35am - Arrive at Airport

1:35pm- Flight

2:25pm Arrive in Santorini & transport to hotel

3pm- Arrive at Hotel

Check into the hotel and then either go for a walk on the beach, sit by the pool, or go swimming.


5pm(Tentative time) Head to the town of Oia together (30 min van ride)

As a group, we will head to Oia, to see the beautiful Blue Domes.

There you will be able to have dinner (on your own) and enjoy the nightlife.


10pm (Tentative) Head back to the hotel together

Day 7-July 13

Island of Santorini

Enjoy a relaxing free morning/afternoon in Santorini


Included Group Activity:

Sunset Catamaran Sailing Tour (2pm pick up/ 9pm back at hotel)

Indulge in the freedom of being on a private cruise. Sailing on a luxury catamaran is the best way to explore this beautiful island away from the noisy crowds. During this 6-hour cruise, you will be astonished by the unique and variable island landscape, ranging from colorful beaches to wild volcano reefs. Try swimming and snorkeling, and taste the most authentic Greek delicacies paired with fine local wine, watching the island’s famous sunset from front-row seats! Meal included. 

Educator Takeaway: Explore the geological formation of Santorini and its volcanic history. Discuss the impact of volcanic activity on the island's landscape and culture.

Day 8-July 14

Back to Athens & Meet Greek Educators

Today we will enjoy the morning  and early afternoon in Santorini. Lay on the beach or explore! 


2:15pm- Meet back at hotel- Take van together to airport

2:30pm -Check in for Flight  

4:35pm Flight to Athens

Arrive in Athens 520pm

Transport to Hotel- arrive about 6:45pm


8pm- Leave hotel for Summit Dinner (Included): Traditional Greek Meal at Grillhouse Arachova. We might have a chance to Meet Greek Educators at dinner (TBA)

Free Day in Athens! 

There are so many options to choose from on your free day.

 Relax by the rooftop pool at the hotel, head South and enjoy a luxury sailing cruise, or journey North by train and enjoy the cliffs of Meteora.
