The lodge makes simple meals and you can order dinner on arrival or bring something with you(Mulanje pizza is a spot you can get a takeaway from). You will also need to bring something for breakfast, as you will depart before the restaurant opens. (Granola breakfast bars or fruit are always good)

My name is Kay de Silva and I am the founder of Warm Heart Adventures, Ltd. I am Malawian and was born and brought up just outside Blantyre. I have been working in the hospitality industry for over 18 years. At some stage during these years, I started to feel the need for a more adventurous lifestyle, and the journey of a small and ever changing tourism company, Warm Heart Adventures, Ltd began. Under this umbrella we have a tour operator - Warm Heart Adventures and The Warm Heart Adventure Lodge, in Cape Maclear

Kay was absolute top-notch in everything and I am glad to have used her to plan my getaway to Victoria Falls. She listened to everything I was interested in, sent me multiple draft itineraries, and took all my changes and requests in stride, always providing the best service. While I am sure she was dealing with many other customers and clients at the same time, in our interactions she always made me feel like I was the only person she was working for. So happy to have had this adventure and I don't think I could have done this without Kay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

June 2024: Arrived from Liwonde safari lodge ( excellent by the way..), two families with 4 x kids ( 11-15). First impression - paradise spot. . Stilted chalets 2 metres off the high water mark. on the lake. Idyllic panorama views of the lake accompanied by Fish eagles, kingfishers and the ubiquitous Hammerkops. Kids (4) tumbled into a well equipped dorm with kitchen. Secure car park. Hired kayaks to view the myriad of colourful fish off the nearby island. About 20 minutes paddle. Warm water and a maelstrom of colour. A few of us kayaked around the small island ( about an hour with frequent stops for bird life). Pristine virgin island flora and fauna - beautiful. Secure car parking. The lodge has no restaurant but that easily fixed by heading 100m up the road to one of the many local restaurants. Touts are present and active. Be discerning. The Cape Mac is a tourist cul-de-sac. Touts will quote exorbitant prices for mediocre services. Your choice. Overall - excellent. Just go … After we headed to the Ilala ferry via Monkey bay and headed North . Gareth Lowndes family

Dear Gareth, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that you and your families had such a wonderful time during your stay. It sounds like you truly embraced the beauty and adventure that our location has to offer. We're glad the beach front chalets and the lake views made a positive impression and that the kids enjoyed the cottage. It's great to know you enjoyed and took advantage of the kayaks and explored the vibrant underwater world and the island’s pristine flora and fauna. The birdlife here is indeed a spectacular sight, and we’re happy you had the opportunity to witness it. We appreciate your understanding regarding the absence of a restaurant on-site and took it as an opportunity to explore Chembe Village and its nearby local restaurants. Thank you again for your kind words and detailed review. We hope to welcome you back in the future for another unforgettable experience! Warm regards, Kay and The Warm Heart Team

Absolute waters edge, beautiful and uncomplicated chalets, mosquito nets and comfortable beds, veranda with hammock and unparalleled views. Good breakfast tray. Kayak and snorkling kit for hire. No pool and we avoided swimming directly from the beach because of the risk of schistosomiasis, but the lodge offers treatment for those who do, at end of stay, for next to nothing. Hiccups pub is directly across the road behind the lodge, with a pool, that is really accessed, whilst having a beer, as an alternative to the lake.

We had a brilliant time hiking to Mulanje Massif's highest peak Sapitwa. It was far beyond anything either of us had ever hiked previously and our excellent team made it easy and enjoyable. We had a very experienced guide and felt safe throughout. I loved staying at the remote huts on the mountain and we were provided with more food than we could eat, along with a fire to relax by in the evenings. The water on the mountain is crystal clear and delicious - you can refill your bottle at streams and rivers. We were treated to a swim in a waterfall pool on the way down which I would highly recommend. Following our last day of hiking, we relaxed with a beer in the Africa Wild Truck lodge, which is a very peaceful and relaxing location. Our final day included a tea tasting in the beautiful Thyolo region. A shout out to Kay De Silva from Warm Heart who organised the trip with very little notice, and provided much needed advice, and to Anastasia who assisted with any queries!

Kay put a brilliant week together for us. Beach/lake, safari, hikes and some great sights and experiences. We really got to experience the best of Southern Malawi and make some wonderful memories. Transfers worked smoothly and accommodation relaxing with amazing views to wake up to. Would love to return.
