Overnight hike to Volcan Acatenango

Embark on a BUCKETLIST adventure—an overnight trek up Volcán Acatenango, where you'll witness the raw power of nature and sleep under a blanket of stars. This challenging, but rewarding hike covers approximately 12 miles round-trip with an altitude gain of over 5,000 feet, culminating at a breathtaking summit elevation of 13,045 feet (3,976 meters).

As we ascend through farmlands, cloud forests, and alpine terrain, you'll be met with sweeping views and the thrilling sight (and sound!) of nearby Volcán Fuego, which frequently erupts (about every 15-20 minutes!). After watching the sunset from the top of Acatenango, we will camp just below the summit, with perfect views of Fuego in front of us.

Cozy, comfortable gear and warm meals will provided by local guides. For those who prefer a less strenuous climb, horseback assistance is available for an additional fee.

Whether on foot or horseback, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will push your limits, but leave you with the ultimate reward--absolute awe of the earth’s wild and raw beauty. This hike is beyond EPIC and will likely be the highlight of your trip in Guatemala!

Head to Lake Atitlan

We will conclude our overnight hike to Acatenango by noon, and then head to Lake Atitlan. Nestled in the Guatemalan highlands just 2.5 hours from Antigua, Lake Atitlán is a breathtaking crater lake surrounded by volcanoes and vibrant Mayan villages

Often called one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, it’s a place where nature, culture, and serenity collide—offering stunning views, rich traditions, and a peaceful escape. Upon arrival to Hotel San Buenaventura de Atitlan, we will have time to relax by the pool and take in the views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes.

At the top, we’ll pause for a transformational guided meditation, grounding ourselves in the beauty and energy of this sacred place. Afterward, we will spend the day exploring the lake’s vibrant Mayan villages by boat, discovering rich traditions, local artisans, and the colorful spirit that makes this region so special.

This highland town comes alive with local vendors, handwoven textiles, ceramics, and traditional crafts, offering a true glimpse into indigenous life and artistry (this town is 95% Mayan descent!). Chichicastenango is a place where traditional language, dress, customs, and spiritual practices are still widely preserved and practiced today.

Wander through the bustling stalls, savor local street food, and witness sacred rituals blending ancient Mayan beliefs with Catholic traditions at the iconic Santo Tomás Church.
