About this trip

・Morning Alms (Optional)

Sai Bat (Morning Alms) is a longstanding tradition in Laos Buddhist culture. In observing it, the devoted offer food to monks throughout the Luang Prabang every morning. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession.

Pickup from your accommodation at early morning around 05:15 am in March to October and 05:45 in November to February. We participate in the alms with local expert guide and experience offering foods to monks.

・Local morning market (Optional)

After morning alms, we visit Luang Prabang morning market. The market lining a couple of quiet streets near the Royal Palace, starts early and is over by mid-morning. It sets up along a couple of side-streets next to one of the city’s many Wats. A butcher and some of the more touristy stalls have actual tables for their wares. But most of the vendors, selling anything from rice, to fresh vegetables, to steamed fish, frogs, and anything else that might be the day’s catch, just set up on the ground.

We go back to your accommodation and have a free time for breakfast until 8:30 am.

・Royal Palace Museum

The Royal Palace, which is today the national museum and built by French colonialists between 1904-09, displays a lovely collection of the artefacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture. (Entrance fee 30,000 kip)

・Wat Mai

built in 1788, known for its glorious bas-relief work, golden stencilling of its sim (assembly hall), and for the ritual cleansing of the Phra Bang during Lao New Year. (Entrance fee 10,000 kip)

・Wat Sene,

The temple was built in 1718 by King Kitsarath with 100,000 stones from the Mekong river. It literally means "Temple of 100,000 treasures"

・Wat Xieng Thong

Located at the end of the Luang Prabang peninsula, there is one of the towns most beautiful and richly decorated temples. (Entrance fee 20,000 kip)

・Wat Wisunarat

The oldest Buddhist temple dating to the 16th century, known for its large, watermelon-domed stupa.(Entrance fee 20,000 kip)

・Mount Phousi

Mount Phousi is a 100 m high hill in the centre of the old town, located on the peninsula between the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. As the highest point in town, it boasts the town’s famous and favourite panoramic view. On the summit, the shiny golden stupa of Wat Chom Si sits firmly and greets visitors to the mountain. It was built in 1804 during the reign of King Anourouth and has become a symbol of Luang Prabang’s spiritual significance. (Entrance fee 20,000 kip)

Reviews

Overall we are enjoying the trip given the timeframe for us to walk round take pictures, exploring the places and the time explanation by our tour guide Phong who is very knowledgable and deserve big tip from us. Only two drawbacks highlighted. First will be because this is shared tour, there could be sometime a bit not comfortable in terms of jamming within the tour buddies around in small van and sometimes give me myself as tall guy a bit of inconvenient. Second my experience engaging with Manifa sales rep that non responsive of WhatsApp sometimes gives nerve racking until i need to make sure this tour is really covered especially when luckily we found the company location within old town location which nearby with our accommodation. But overall still like this itinerary tour.

What a day! We can’t thank Manila travel enough for this amazing experience! All of the guides, drivers, cooks and everyone else involved were very friendly and helpful. We felt very looked after on this trip. We visited a lovely village with friendly people, cycled through beautiful countryside, kayaked along the river, had a delicious lunch, spent time with elephants and visited Pak Ou caves. I would recommend this for fit people that enjoy an active tour. I slightly over estimated my physical abilities but allowances were made for me which I really appreciated. Thank you so much for a brilliant day that I will never forget.

We had an amazing 1/2 day trip. Waterfalls were beautiful and lovely to swim in. It was great to see the moon bears at the Save The Bears sanctuary. Enjoyed learning about Hmong culture from our village visit. We had a fantastic, knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Highly recommended.
