For folks who would like to join us in Hilo for the pre-trip workshop weekend, you can fly into Hilo for the event, then take the free island bus to Kona on May 27th to join the group there for the Kona Dance Adventure Week portion. You can also fly to Kona and take the free bus to Hilo -- lots of options :)

BUS INFO:   Hawaii Island (Hele-On Bus):

Free Fares: The Hele-On bus system, serving Hawaii Island, offers free fares for its fixed routes and Kako'o paratransit services.

Service: Hele-On provides service generally seven days a week from 3:15 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Schedules and Maps: You can find schedules and maps on the Hele-On website. However, I have found the easiest way to get the schedule is to simply use Google maps. Put in Hilo as your starting location, and get directions to Kona using the public transportation icon/option (ie vs. the car driving or walking icon)
HOUSING:
Housing for the pre-trip would be on your own. There are many hotel and AirBnB options. If you're planning to join us in Hilo, let Ari know. He has an AirBnB option available and may also be able to help with transportation.

Pre-Trip Add-On to Hilo

May 24-26, 2024 (in Hilo)

It was the perfect fit for us since we love to dance and Carnival/Costume celebrations like Halloween and Day of the Dead. The teacher was very good and they brought local dancers to supplement our lack of male dancers which was a big upgrade for the trip since we had quality dancing and teaching. We had a great time and loved the Casa de La Noche for the first 5 or 6 nights. The last two nights in La Finca Devocion was very disapointing and not on par with our expectations nor the other hotel. They promised to have hot springs and hot tub and neither worked for either of the two nights we were there==the water was cold when we tried both days. There was nothing else to do there so we took a taxi to San Miguel both for food and activities. We did not receive the value expected for this part of the trip. The accomodations were also lacking in amenities and was certainly not a luxury place or worth the money paid. We loved the planned activities but would have preferred more free time. The organizers did not originally make reservations at restaurants and dance clubs even though it was high season so they had to improvise which we think impacted the quality of the trip.

wonderful weekend. My second time. Much preferred earlier date. First weekend after Memorial Day would be best. Th Hot springs wonderful. Like the late hours. Love the robes. Vegetarian meal was delicious. Dance lessons were great so was the morning yoga. It was a great way to get the body moving

Another great weekend in beautiful Harrison Hot Springs. What a great group of friendly people. The dance workshops were a mix of moves that could be done in a few dance styles, fusion being the key word. At night be got to dance to a very good live band.

I had a wonderful time. The classes were nicely laid out. The food was good and the room was very nice. The mineral pool was nice. I only would have loved clear skies! A nice weekend!
