About this trip

Hawaii is a land of natural beauty and wonder, a paradise in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean. Join Peter Walters and Nat Kendall as they come together for a retreat like no other on the northern shores of the Big Island of Hawaii. Peter will be leading the daily vinyasa classes and meditations while Nat shares the practice of Bhakti music & philosophy during the classes and beyond.

Let's venture across the pond to Hawaii Island's North Kohala coast! While we provide two daily yoga classes and 3 meals per day, much of this time will be yours to disconnect from your devices and reconnect with yourself. Between classes, feel free to explore the large retreat center property, adventure off property to beaches, volcanoes or enjoy long drives around the island, or simply spend your time by the pool, enjoying spa services or other classes offered by the retreat center. This is a week for you.

LOCATION
This is an eco-friendly purpose-built retreat center in Kohala, on the Big Island of Hawaii that features a boutique hotel fashioned after 19th century Hawaiian palaces. There is a lovely courtyard, view of the ocean, salt-water infinity swimming pool, solar-heated hot tub, walking trails, and on-site spa treatments. The facility is located on 50+ acres and produces its own electricity (wind-generated) and organic food: fruits, vegetables, goat cheese and more. Meals are prepared in the fabulous kitchen by professional chefs that use the food grown on the property to create beautiful, delicious cuisine! Visit hawaiiislandretreat.com to learn more about this spot.

PRACTICE
In the mornings, we will begin with a meditation, chanting and a mindful practice that will awaken and revitalize your body and open your heart. In the afternoons/early evenings we will have a second yoga practice and sometimes have conversations around yoga philosophy, kirtan and partner work. Each practice will strike a balance between effort and relaxation. You will have at least 1 afternoon off so go on a longer expedition around the island.

FOOD
You will be fed very well with fresh, farm-to-table local ingredients-- much of which comes from the retreat center farm! This is a vegetarian retreat, and there will be vegan options, however eggs, milk, yogurt and butter will also be available. There will be plenty of high protein vegetarian options available daily.

SCHEDULE
You’ll arrive on Friday, March 10th and we’ll have an afternoon practice, opening circle and dinner. You’ll depart on Wednesday, March 15th after breakfast and a morning practice. (*you have the option to stay at the retreat center longer for a reduced rate).

This was an awesome trip, hands down. I didn't expect it to be as wonderful as it was, even though I knew it was going to be in Hawaii, even though I knew Nat (who assisted Peter, the teacher, with music & instruction) was awesome, etc. It was still better than what I could imagine! So thank you from the bottom of my heart for this experience. It truly lived up to its name!

This retreat was a healing and transformational experience. Peter tenderly led us through our daily practices, challenging us to find strength, encouraging us to play and allowing us to simply be with what is as it is, while Nat and Brian’s sweet music guided us home. My fellow yogis were friendly, fun and inspiring, creating a real sense of community. The retreat center was a beautiful, sacred sanctuary by the ocean with a caring and accommodating staff. We enjoyed delicious vegetarian food grown on their property, comfortable lodging, an inviting infinity pool and access to gorgeous nearby beaches. My spirit is still soaring and I look forward to returning next year!

Wonderful yoga retreat in dreamy paradise of Big Island Hawaii. Peter Walters Bhakti style yoga is both playful and rigorous. Live music. Daily meditation. Yoga 2x a day. Organic vegetarian meals 3x a day. A great way to to treat yourself to health and wellness. Hawaii Island Retreat Resort is a beautiful location with yurts or suites to share of enjoy in private. Massage and energy work is offered on site. Infinity pool is exquisite. Near the town of Hawi. People are friendly and fun. Afternoons are free to explore beaches, hike and discover Aloha style.
This retreat on Kona with Nat, Peter and Brian was amazing. The location, the facility, yoga, music, free time, food and company were perfection. The guests were also amazing and varied, we all bought our own unique vibe to the retreat. I would not hesitate for a minute to jump on another retreat with these capable, skilled and loving gentlemen in the future. You will most certainly be in good hands and in for a wonderful ride!
