The staff on board were very welcoming and our room was more spacious than expected and the bed was quite comfortable. The food was good too. Unfortunately our room (#6) was above the engine and it was noisy 24 hours a day. engine. It was not peaceful to sit on the balcony. Ask for an odd numbered room to avoid the noise,. We sailed to the western Galapagos, which are the furthest islands away from the mainland. I've spoken to other travelers with different itineraries, who saw much more wildlife than we saw. For that reason I don't recommend the western itinerary. The first leg of the trip was 10 hours and the seas were quite rough. There were two more rough nights. The staff didn't always forewarn us about the sea conditions. I was not impressed with our naturalist. Although he was funny, he seemed bored and didn't provide very much information. During our snorkels, we were on our own-he didn't offer any guidance in the water. Our fellow travelers spotted more wildlife than he did. I would have appreciated information on how to spot a shark, what fish we might see and that the very playful sea lions would nip our fins, but wouldn't hurt us. The guide/company also didn't provide an accurate itinerary. Upon our arrival, Instead of going to the ship, we went on an outing. We had to open up our suitcases at a ferry dock and change in a not very nice bathroom. The company also needs to provide a much better packing list-like a waterproof container for the iphone, go-pro, etc.

We had a wonderful experience overall on our Amazon rainforest trip, and a huge part of that was thanks to our private guide, David. He was amazing with my daughter, Kaci — patient, kind, and always attentive to what she needed. He listened to what we wanted to see and do, and he was very proactive about adjusting the itinerary based on weather or how Kaci was doing. Even though he’s newer to guiding in this specific area of the rainforest, his overall experience clearly showed. We always felt safe with him, and we genuinely enjoyed everything he showed us. Our driver was also great — very friendly and thoughtful. He always made sure we had ponchos and that our bags were covered and protected, which we really appreciated. The lodge itself was nice and clean. The beds were okay; by day four my back was a little sore, but that was expected for such a remote location. The walls kept outside noise to a minimum, and we honestly barely noticed any other guests while sleeping. The other lodge employees were amazing, I cannot even begin to describe how caring and kind they were. Always concerned with if we were liking the food or getting enough - their portions are huge and the food was delicious! The only part that wasn’t ideal was that someone had tried to rescue a baby otter, and we had to use a portion of our guided time to return it. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it did cut into our tour time a bit. Overall, the experience was memorable and felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of — especially thanks to David and the driver, who made the trip feel smooth and personalized.

Had a wonderful experience at Waita Lodge! Was super impressed with the food and the guides. We saw so many amazing animals and everyone at the lodge went above and beyond!
