About your trip

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: CUSCO / ABRA MALAGA / SANTA MARÍA

  • We will start our adventure early in the morning, picking you up from your hotel at 5:00 AM. Our first stop will be the stunning Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and make any last-minute purchases. From there, we will head to Abra Málaga, the gateway to the jungle, where our thrilling journey along the Inca Jungle Trail to Machu Picchu begins.

At Abra Málaga, the real excitement begins with a 55 km bike ride down to the town of Santa María. Before starting, we’ll have a brief safety talk about the equipment and route. The three-hour ride will take us through diverse landscapes, from highlands to jungle terrain. Along the way, we will stop at the archaeological site of Huamancarma, a remarkable example of Inca presence in the jungle, accompanied at all times by our support vehicle.

In Santa María, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant before embarking on an exciting rafting adventure on the Urubamba River, with all necessary equipment provided (rafting is available from April to December). The day will conclude with a delicious dinner before resting for the night.

Overnight in a lodge in Santa María.

DAY 2: SANTA MARÍA / ZIPLINE / COCALMAYO HOT SPRINGS / LUCMABAMBA

  • This day takes us deeper into lush coca plantations and various tropical fruit farms, with our guide sharing fascinating insights about their significance. After a two-hour uphill hike, we will reach the “Monkey House,” where you can see a demonstration of coffee and cocoa production and learn about the local culture. Along this section of the Inca Trail, once connected to Machu Picchu, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the majestic Salkantay Mountain and the deep canyon—perfect for capturing unforgettable photos.

Continuing our hike, we will reach the highest point of the day, where a spectacular view of the Urubamba River awaits. After enjoying the scenery, we’ll begin a two-hour descent to the village of Q’ellomayo, where a delicious lunch will be served. Here, you can also try a thrilling zipline experience while waiting for your meal.

After lunch, we’ll take a final 2.5-hour hike to the Cocalmayo hot springs. Here, you can enjoy a well-deserved soak in the relaxing thermal waters, letting the natural warmth soothe your muscles after a full day of trekking. Our transport will then take us to our campsite. We’ll conclude the adventurous day in the village of Santa Teresa, where we’ll enjoy dinner and prepare for more adventures the next day.

Overnight in domes in Lucmabamba.

DAY 3: SANTA TERESA / AOBAMBA - AGUAS CALIENTES

  • After a delicious breakfast, we’ll start the day early with a hike along a section of the famous Inca Trail. Along the way, we’ll explore an organic farm where you can savor the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and learn about the local coffee-making process. This route is famously known as the "Cusco Coffee Tour."

After a three-hour uphill climb with stunning views of the Santa Teresa Valley, we’ll reach the Inca site of Llactapata, where you’ll have your first glimpse of Machu Picchu. Take some time to explore this historic site and capture memorable photos.

After the visit, we’ll descend for lunch in Aobamba. From there, you can choose to take a train to Aguas Calientes (not included) or enjoy a three-hour hike along the train tracks. Keep an eye out for wildlife and the famous Intihuatana rock along the way. Once in Aguas Calientes, you’ll check into your hotel, relax, and explore the town before dinner as we prepare for the big day ahead.

Inside the citadel, you’ll enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of its most iconic areas: temples, terraces, houses, and agricultural fields. You’ll marvel at the advanced Inca engineering, from structures perfectly adapted to the mountains to complex water systems that remain a mystery to this day.

After the tour, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch before boarding the 2:55 pm train to Ollantaytambo. From there, a private bus will take you back to Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm with the Andes forever etched in your memory.
