Fantastic in every way.

Back from our first paddling trip with Sea Kayaking Costa Rica and, wow, can’t stop thinking about it: so many amazing moments, on both water and land. Fabulous sightings of spectacular scarlet macaws, dolphins, three-toed sloths, anteaters, howler and spider monkeys (some with their babies), even a hawksbill sea turtle, which suddenly surfaced near our kayaks. The protected Golfo Dulce and its mangrove-forested creeks were a great place for kayaking – well off the beaten track, with flat water, minimal tidal currents and always interesting stuff to see. The two rustic eco-lodges we stayed in had everything we needed, and we loved the chance they provided to try homemade local dishes at our meals. SKCR’s Matias Flores was extremely well organized – no balls dropped at any point, before or during the trip. He provided terrific information pre-trip, was quick to respond to all our questions, and even assisted us with other travel arrangements in Costa Rica. And as our guide once the trip started, his first-rate communication and organization continued. We appreciated how he went over details of each day’s itinerary beforehand, and was very much in tune with his clients on the water – setting a pace that let us enjoy what we were seeing, stopping for stretch-our-knees and chance-to-swim breaks. We hated to see the trip end!

The sea kayaking trip with Sea Kayaking Costa Rica in the San Blas Islands was a unique experience and a true adventure. We experienced stunning landscapes and varied kayaking. We glided on calm waters through mangroves, crossed the interiors of atolls, and played in the channels with impressive waves. The guides were always calm and we always felt safe. We visited the islands inhabited by the local Kuna people and received a warm welcome. The campsites on palm-fringed sandy beaches were picturesque, and the underwater world was breathtaking. The weather was changeable, and the team's support was outstanding. Mathias took care of every detail and was always attentive to his guests. That things didn't always go exactly according to plan was due to the remoteness and unique nature of Kuna Jala. Our fellow paddlers were wonderful, and we would have loved to have spent a few more days paddling in this special area. Many thanks to Mathias and his team! Katharina and Richard

Great trip! Beautiful area and great guides. Only complaint would be they should have much bigger tarps in use around camp as a rain shield during the transition season. :)
