This morning we will drive to Jerash, one the best-preserved Roman cities in the world (often called the "Pompeii of the East.") Built by Alexander the Great and flourishing after the Roman conquest, Jerash was part of the Decapolis. Visit Hadrian's Arch (130 AD), the Hippodrome, the Forum, the Temple of Artemis, and the Colonnaded Street.

In the afternoon, we will explore downtown Amman, starting with the Citadel, home to ruins from the Roman to early Islamic periods, and visit the Archaeological Museum. Walk through the Souq to experience local life before heading to the 2nd-century Roman Theater with 6,000 seats. 

We will spend most of our day driving along the Kings Highway, one ofthe oldest trade routes in the world. Our first stop is Madaba, known for its stunning Byzantine mosaics, including the famous Mosaic Map of the Holy Land. We continue to the sacred site of Mount Nebo, where the Prophet Moses is believed to have seen the Promised Land. Next, head to the imposing Karak Castle, a Crusader fortress that offers a glimpse into Jordan’s medieval history. Afterward, take in the spectacular vistas of the Dana Natural Reserve from a nearby overlook, before arriving in the enchanting city of Petra. Enjoy a traditional dinner and a restful overnight stay at your hotel in Petra, preparing for an unforgettable exploration the next day.

Today we will spend a full day exploring the magnificent Rose-Red City of Petra, one of Jordan’s most iconic and awe-inspiring archaeological sites. We'll start our journey walking through the dramatic Siq, a narrow gorge that leads to the breathtaking view of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh). Then we continue our exploration of the Royal Tombs, the impressive Roman Theater and, for adventurous travelers willing to hike up the 800+ steps, the the Monastery (Ad-Deir.)

After breakfast, we depart from Petra and head to the mesmerizing desert landscape of Wadi Rum, often called the "Valley of the Moon." (This is the "desert planet" filming location for many films, including Dune, Star Wars, and The Martian.  Upon arrival, we embark on a thrilling 4-hour Jeep tour, where we'll explore the dramatic red sand dunes, towering sandstone mountains, and ancient rock inscriptions. In the late afternoon, enjoy a peaceful 1-hour camel ride during sunset, taking in the spectacular colors of the desert as the sun dips below the horizon. We end our day with a traditional Bedouin dinner under the stars and an overnight stay at a desert camp, surrounded by the tranquility of Wadi Rum.

After waking up this morning in our desert camp, we head to the Dead Sea for some rest, relaxation, and floating! On our way to the Dead Sea, we will stop to visit the Baptismal Site of Jesus on the banks of the Jordan River. When we arrive at our Dead Sea resort, we will arrange spa time for those who want to try a Dead Sea mud wrap and salt scrub (highly recommended by The Emilies.)

On our drive back to Amman we will stop at the Hammamat Ma'in (Hot Springs.) Popular with both locals and tourists alike, the springs are located 264m below sea level in one of the most breathtaking desert oases in the world. Thousands of visiting bathers come each year to enjoy the mineral-rich waters ofthese hyper-thermal waterfalls. These falls originate from winter rainfalls in the highland plains of Jordan and eventually feed the 109 hot and cold springs in the valley.

This water is heated to temperatures of up to 63° Celsius by underground lava fissures as it makes its way through the valley before emptying into the Zarqa River.

Once we arrive in Amman, we will cook our own Farewell Dinner at Beit Sitti. The Jordanian cooking class invites guests to learn to make a homemade arabic salad, side dish, main course and a dessert with the help of a local woman, then eat it on our balcony or indoors at their grandmothers house in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Amman.

All good things must come to an end! We will help everyone get back to Queen Ali International Airport to head home (or on to their next adventure!)
