Join us with teachers Megan Whiteside and Rebecca Jo as we head to breathtakingly beautiful Bali, one of the world’s most idyllic tropical islands. Escape the winter blues for a tropical reset atop the cliffs of Uluwatu, overlooking the crystal clear ocean waves. We’ll be staying at Uluwatu Surf Villas, with our own private beach, cliffside yoga, unparalleled location for surfing, and amazing food. You’ll be able to wake up with a coconut and watch the sun go down over the sea. Uluwatu is away from the crowds, yet right on the ocean, so you’ll get the best Balinese experience possible.
Bali is a magical island in Indonesia known for its beaches, surfing, and Hindu temples and heritage. On retreat with us, you’ll be with teachers who know the island well and will show you the best time possible in this incredible place. We’ll wander through ancient temples, eat fresh tropical fruit, see monkeys, and unwind to the rhythms of jungle and island life. With a massage and surf lesson included, plus our twice daily yoga classes, we guarantee you’ll leave feeling both refreshed and invigorated.
MEGAN WHITESIDE
Founder and co-owner of Lacuna Juice And Yoga, Megan’s yoga journey has inspired her teaching to be a reflection of her own values; joyful, fun, creative, informed, and intelligent. As a former professional athlete, she loves challenging the limits of her own mental boundaries and of what’s possible when the mind and body work together.
Megan's teaching style has ripened through the years with a dedicated and varied practice in multiple disciplines and traditions of yoga. Her teaching method is a uniquely blended Vinyasa framework infused with Katonah Yoga®, a Hatha practice rooted in geometric alignment principals, pranayama, and Taoist theory. As a certified Katonah Yoga® teacher, her experience with this practice allows her to provide pragmatic, dimensional, and practical insights into the material. Her classes are full of creative sequences that are playful yet challenging, and her lighthearted attitude and playlists will always put a smile on your face. Her goal is to make yoga accessible, enjoyable, and informative for everybody so that they can live life at a higher frequency.
Her passion for travel has allowed her to train, teach, and learn, as well as lead yoga retreats, around the world. She finds endless joy in experiencing new places, and her retreats aim to share the world with her students in a way that is real, raw, uplifting, and insightful.
REBECCA JO PHILLIPS
Rebecca Jo joins the Lacuna family as the Director of Programs. Inspired by the rhythms of the natural world, Rebecca Jo guides her students into their own innate patterning through practices of breath awareness, supportive movement and meditation. Within each class she emphasizes the need to slow down and create a space for oneself that is both comforting and sacred.
Trained in the arts of dance, photography, and breath-centered movement she incorporates a lifetime of lessons into each class and encourages her students to integrate practices of conscious flow into daily life. Rebecca earned her 200hr RYT certification in 2009 while living on a self-sustained farm in the mountains of Spain. She began her teaching practice in New York City, working privately with individuals recovering from injury; supporting them in finding acceptance and peace within their bodies as they redeveloped their physical strength and range of motion. Her practice is informed by the teachings of Abbie Galvin + Nevine Michaan of Katonah Yoga, Tom Myers of Anatomy Trains, Tias Little, Ana Forrest and BKS Iyengar.
A life-long traveler and eternal student, she seeks opportunities to immerse herself in new experiences and discover new ways of seeing the world. She has led retreats and workshops in Mexico, Costa Rica, Morocco, NYC, LA and Denver.
