The trip had many amazing aspects. Loved the shows, tourist points of interest, opportunity to be in the city. Stipend was nice so that kids and adults could decide/find food that worked for them. Accommodations were adequate, but not all participants seemed to appreciate that the beds and rooms would be small. I was not pleased with the treatment of the orchestra at Carnegie Hall. The lack of on stage practice time, very poor quality instruments provided, length of program including the amount of time dedicated to choirs versus musical performers was poor. Staff members at the venue were gruff with performers. I appreciate the size of the group was large. Many moving parts to consider. But the arrangements of travel times seemed punitive to the orchestra. They left so much earlier than other groups for travel to and from NYC, and were required to travel longer. The mixed room arrangements of groups poised challenging for sleep as call times, arrivals and departures varied. For the students this was by choice, but not for the adult chaperones. I also appreciate that some will travel within the city better than others, but many really struggled with instructions of where to get on subways or find the appropriate train departure spot. Google maps did not help as instructions would vary. A better resource for travel within the city would be helpful in the future. Don't assume all know how to travel by train. I appreciate the hard work of the staff from the travel agency to manage this large trip.

We had a wonderful time in New York. There were so many fun and amazing things planned for us and some downtime for us to choose as well. Wonderful trip coordinators!!

Kudos to the organizers for all their efforts in creating this amazing experience for the students! The music venues, choices of Broadway musicals and the available free time were perfect. The chaperones also had a great time. I do have one suggestion on behalf of the age 45+ crowd: find a couple of massage therapists who can bring their massage chairs to the hotels to rub our backs and feet after such long days walking for 10 miles a day! :)
