Love in Every Step: A Ghanaian Journey of Joy and Liberation

Walk through Ghana’s vibrant landscapes and living history where every step carries the power of love, every rhythm echoes joy, and every moment honors resilience. From the bustling streets of Accra to the historic castles of Cape Coast, along the serene waters of the Volta, this journey invites you to discover heritage, connection, and freedom in community.

This 9-day, 8-night journey through Ghana offers an immersive blend of history, culture, nature, and personal discovery. Your adventure begins in Accra, Ghana’s vibrant capital, where modern energy and deep historical roots coexist. Explore key landmarks such as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Independence Square, and the lively Makola Market, where the colorful pulse of daily life fills the streets.

Travel next to Cape Coast, where you’ll confront Ghana’s profound past with a guided tour of the haunting Cape Coast Castle, a sobering reminder of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

A highlight of your experience includes a visit to the serene Volta Region, where you’ll embark on a boat cruise on Volta Lake, the world’s largest manmade lake, and marvel at the engineering wonder of the Adome Bridge. Take time to relax at the picturesque Bridgeview Resort, with opportunities for leisure activities or peaceful reflection amidst stunning natural surroundings.

Throughout the tour, delight in authentic Ghanaian cuisine, traditional music and dance, and meaningful cultural exchanges with local communities. The journey concludes with a special celebratory dinner, offering a moment to reflect on the memories, friendships, and discoveries made along the way.

Day 1

Day 1 image

Love in Every Step

This journey is more than just a tour of cities and landmarks—it’s a deep dive into the heartbeat of Ghanaian culture. From the bold, comforting flavors of dishes like jollof rice, kebabs, and groundnut soup, to the sounds of street music and the stories in every corner of the market, prepare for a full-sensory adventure.

We’ll visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan African Culture before taking a trip to local fabric shops, where you can peruse vibrant, locally-woven textiles and, later, get measured for custom-made pieces by skilled Ghanaian tailors. Whether you're dreaming of a bold kente jacket or a flowy Ankara dress, this is your chance to take home a truly personal piece of Ghana.

Having reclaimed your place as a part of historical African lineage, it is time pay our respects at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, dedicated to Ghana’s founding father and first president. This beautifully landscaped space offers a powerful glimpse into the country’s path to independence and honors a legacy that shaped not only Ghana but Africa as a whole.

We’ll finish with a stop at the Accra Art Centre, where you can test your bargaining skills in a lively marketplace full of handcrafted goods and local artistry. Don’t worry if the negotiating gets intense—our team will be nearby, ready to jump in and help you find that perfect deal (and maybe even cheer on your haggling finesse).

In the late afternoon, take a rest and prepare for our celebratory Welcome Dinner later in the evening.

Day 2

Day 2 image

The River of the Last Bath

Prepare to check out of the hotel with an overnight bag; remaining luggage will be securely stored.

After breakfast, we will set off as our journey through Ghana continues with a deeply moving visit to Assin Manso and Cape Coast, where we will confront the powerful and emotional history of the transatlantic slave trade while also embracing the resilience and royalty of our ancestors.

In Assin Manso, we will visit the River of the Last Bath, where captured Africans took their last bath before being sold and shipped across the Atlantic. Standing at this sacred site, we honor the memory of those who endured unimaginable hardships and reclaim their legacy as descendants of kings and queens.

Day 3 (early morning)

Optional: Walk on the Wild Side

Kakum National Park offers an unforgettable encounter with Ghana’s lush tropical rainforest. Located just outside of Cape Coast, the park is best known for its iconic canopy walkway—a suspended bridge system that stretches high above the forest floor, offering breathtaking views and a thrilling perspective of the treetops.

Guided by local experts, you'll learn about the park’s rich biodiversity, including rare plant species, butterflies, and the elusive forest elephants that roam the dense undergrowth.

The walk through Kakum isn't just a nature excursion—it's an immersive experience into one of West Africa’s most important conservation areas.

Whether you're an adventure seeker or a nature lover, a visit to Kakum is both exhilarating and enlightening—connecting you to the beauty, serenity, and ecological significance of Ghana’s wild side.

Bent and Bruised, but Never Broken

The river served as a poignant beginning to our visit to Cape Coast, tracing the very path once taken by the ancestors of African Diasporans.

At Cape Coast Castle, we’ll step into a space where history's sorrowful shadows meet the enduring light of remembrance. As we move through the castle’s dungeons and stand before the infamous “Door of No Return,” we confront a painful chapter of the past. Yet, within these walls, we also honor the resilience, courage, and unyielding spirit that continue to define generations descended from those who passed through this place.

Day 3 (afternoon)

Homecoming

After breakfast and hotel check out, we will head back to Accra.

During our trip, you will continue to absorb the impact of the tumultuously trod road of our ancestors and be reminded that you are of resilient and persevering people.

As a lifelong reminder- we are pleased to share one of the most unforgettable moments of the journey- taking part in a Ghanaian naming ceremony.  Led by a village chief/queen mother, this sacred tradition will welcome you into the community in a way that few travelers ever experience. Stand alongside one another and village locals as you receive your Ghanaian name, symbolizing your connection to this land, your acceptance into the community, and your bond with the people you’ll never forget. It’s more than a ceremony—it’s a homecoming.

Snacks will be provided.

Dinner on your own.

Seeds of Freedom, Flavors of Joy

Breathe in the cool hilltop air of Aburi Botanical Gardens, where towering palms, medicinal plants, and colonial-era trees frame a serene stroll through Ghana’s green sanctuary.

Continue into the countryside for a hands-on visit to a cocoa farm—walk among pods, learn the life of the cacao tree from seedling to harvest, crack fresh pods, and taste the sweet, pulpy beans.

Your journey culminates with a bean-to-bar chocolate session: fermenting & drying explained, roasting demonstrations, and a guided tasting of single-origin Ghanaian chocolates. Roll up your sleeves for simple chocolate making—tempering, molding, and decorating your own treats to take home.

Sweet, Sweet Ghana. Love grows here, joy is savored here, freedom is crafted here.

Day 6
