About this trip

Get ready for an epic week of freediving memory-making in the Maldives. We're setting sail on a freediving liveaboard that's all about adventure, laughter, and incredible underwater encounters in the crystal-clear waters of Hanifaru Bay. This trip is perfect for anyone who loves snorkeling and is curious about freediving, as well as seasoned freedivers looking for some unforgettable ocean action. Imagine gliding through the water with whale sharks, dancing with mantas, and meeting all kinds of colorful reef life - it's going to be wild!

We've even timed this adventure with the full moon, which is like a VIP pass to the underwater world. It's when the manta rays throw their biggest parties, thanks to all the plankton that come out to play.

We've packed the week with freediving fun, depth training for those who want to go deeper, awesome workshops, photography sessions to capture those jaw-dropping moments, and games to keep the team laughing. We can't wait to see you there!

Why Immersia?

For us, freediving is about joy, play, discovery and feeling 100% alive. We create experiences around bucket-list marine wildlife encounters; the kind of moments you’ll be proud of for the rest of your life.

We’re super selective when we choose our destinations, suppliers and team. Every trip aligns strongly with our values.

We know our trips aren’t cheap. We’re not here for low-cost, barely-there freediving meetups and we’re not ‘content creators’ looking for a free vacation. We’re professional and experienced facilitators here to make your trip special.

So, when you decide to book a trip with us, here’s what you can expect:

  • Convenient and secure booking process
  • Regular communication and information
  • Professionally qualified and insured facilitators (no volunteers or trainees)
  • Licensed, legitimate operators chosen for their safety records and values
  • Dedicated 24h engagement from facilitators on retreat. You won’t be left to figure out your own dinner plans or solve issues alone.
  • A LOT of silliness and fun. Expect games, dancing, human pyramids, dirty jokes and our signature Immersia Olympics…

Who Is This Retreat For?

Your Vibe:

- You live for the ocean and care about the wellbeing of the animals

- You're tolerant, patient, and engaged in a diverse group setting.

- Minimum 18 years of age

- Medically fit to be in the water - we will require all participants to complete a medical history statement, and we may require clearance from a doctor.

- Able to swim at least 200 metres without assistance

Your Ocean Experience:

This trip is friendly to freediving beginners AND deep, experienced divers. You can even include your freediving certification course as part of the trip!

To make the most of this adventure we recommend you at least get plenty of swimming and snorkelling experience in advance.

If in doubt, feel free to still book and drop us a message. We will contact you within 3 days and if we agree it's a no-go we will return your deposit straight away. After this, the deposit is non-refundable.

How We Work

There are so many freediving retreat options out there. Let's make sure we are a good fit!

- We rise early, dive a lot, and go to bed pretty early. It's not the one if you want to party hard.

- We typically host guests of all ages (18+) so expect variety!

- Our customer base is primarily Australian but we love hosting guests from all over the world!

- We are LGBTQIA+ friendly

- We always put the animals first and won't force interactions

- We really really really value great group dynamics and we are grateful for respectful, tolerant, drama-free people!

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, supportive and super friendly organisation. However if you feel you may need additional levels of personal support please reach out to us first and we will have an honest discussion about how best to facilitate this.

This is now the 3rd immersia trip we have done and they just get better and better. We got blessed with an amazing group of people to share the trip with, our instructors Bella and Sylvia were just absolutely incredible, full of so much knowledge and so kind and patient. They were there for all of us no matter what time, we couldn’t be more grateful for everything they did for us and helped us achieve. The trip itself was so well planned and organised, we got to visit such incredible places and had dive to new depths and smash out some new PB’s. So grateful for another perfect retreat with immersia. Cant wait for the next!

Everyone loves a great story, but what about comeback stories? Where basically -you think- you know what to expect and clearly you have no further expectations? When things can be the same, or can completely go wrong and destroy everything nice you had in mind from the first time? I am more than happy to state that this was definitely not the case!! Definitely not when it comes to Bella and Immersia Freediving. First trip in Moorea, August 2023. Bella once more joined her powers with the best local business and her enthusiasm, her friendliness, her experience, her attention, her helpfulness, her constant commitment to safety, was joined and maximized with the assistance of Ewan and all the local people she worked with. Bella and Ewan worked tirelessly and never on the clock to make sure everything was perfect for their guests. This couple sure knows how to make you feel like family. Too much fun, too many whales; mama whales, baby whales, singer whales, cutest dissonant juvenile whales, happy smiles, new friends, beautiful memories and inside jokes .. One star! Thank you Bella, thank you Ewan and thank you Immersia Freediving for another awesome experience. See you soon!

I went on a freediving with seals weekend in Narooma. Hands down one of the best experiences I have ever had. The team at Immersia are really lovely and welcoming. I will definitely go on more trips in the future! 🦭

Loved every minute of it. Had a wonderful time whale diving, chasing turtles, doing yoga and improving breath ability. Well organised and no bad eggs in the group. Would recommend to anyone to try at least once!
