WED MAR 4: ARRIVE MALTA [-/-/D]
● Upon arrival, go through customs, meet your guide and transfer to accommodation
● Afternoon welcome and introduction to Malta
● Group welcome dinner

THU MAR 5: ARTS + CULTURE IN MALTESE COMMUNITIES[B/L/D]
● Breakfast at the Residence
● Head out to an arts and crafts village to learn about Ta’ Qali traditional crafts, including glass blowing, filigree curling, and wood carving; try your hand at ceramics and then enjoy a light snack lunch of some typical Maltese snacks and drinks
● Visit a local brewery to learn how their production of beer and mineral beverages has evolved from the 1920s; includes tour and tasting
● Head to one of Malta’s oldest villages to learn about their cultural sustainability initiatives; talk with locals about the traditions they hold sacred and their impact on the community
● Fresh fish dinner at a small restaurant in a fishing village
● Overnight at NSTS Campus Residence
FRI MAR 6: SUSTAINABILITY AND TRADITION IN GOZO [B/L/D]
● Early breakfast at the Residence
● Head out first thing in the morning for a day trip to the island of Gozo, where residents still lead a richly traditional lifestyle
● Visit the pre-historic megalithic temples of Ggantija, built more than 1,000 years before the Egyptian Pyramids; then see the nearby Ta’ Kola windmill to learn about traditional methods of grinding grains into flour via wind energy.
● Call by Calypso Cave (attributed to Homer’s Odyssey) and learn about the land formation, including a red sand beach
● Lunch at a typical local bakery to try freshly baked bread, ftira, qassata, pizza, and other traditional foods
● After lunch, climb the Cittadella and learn about its history as both a castle and fortress; then head to the Lunzjata Valley to visit traditional small still cultivated fields and a livestock farm developed to sustain production
● Take the ferry boat back to Malta
● Late dinner at the Residence
● Overnight at NSTS Campus Residence
SAT MAR 7: MARINE SUSTAINABILITY AND INDUSTRY IN MALTA [B/-/D]
● Breakfast at the Residence
● After breakfast, go for a morning trek to the natural Majjestral Park to learn about local biodiversity issues and sustainable coastal management; then help out with a short beach cleaning project
● Packed lunch
● Introduction and discussion to the development and need of fish farming, followed by a boat ride to a tuna fish pen and option to swim with the tuna!
● Head to a small village and enjoy Fenkata (rabbit), a favorite Maltese traditional dinner
● Overnight at NSTS Campus Residence
SUN MAR 8: DEPART [B/-/-]
● Breakfast at the Residence
● Transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home
