Day 2: Sembalun Crater Rim to Summit, then to Segara Anak Lake

We awaken in the dark to hot drinks and a light breakfast before beginning our ascent to Mount Rinjani summit. The early climb is moderate, leading into a longer, more gradual walk. The final section is a steep climb over loose volcanic scree.

We reach the summit in time to celebrate with a spectacular sunrise, enjoying panoramic views of Lombok, Bali, Sumbawa, and the Segara Anak Lake below.

After taking in the views, we descend back to the Sembalun crater rim for breakfast. The journey then continues down a steep and slippery trail to the stunning Segara Anak Lake and its natural hot springs. Upon reaching the lakeside, we make camp for the night. Here, you can enjoy the serene lake views, take a swim, or relax in the hot springs, which are known for their soothing, natural healing powers.

• 2:00 AM: Wake up, warm drink, gear check.

• 2:30 AM: Start summit ascent.

• 5:30 AM: Reach summit for sunrise.

• 7:00 AM: Descend to crater campsite.

• 9:00 AM: Breakfast at camp.

• 10:00 AM: Descend to Segara Anak Lake.

• 1:00 PM: Arrive at lake. Relax, visit hot springs.

• 2:00 PM: Lunch and free time.

• 3:00 PM: Set up campsite by lake.

Day 3: From Segara Anak Lake to Senaru Crater Rim

After lunch at Segara Anak Lake and a visit to the hot springs, the journey continues with an ascent to the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m). This climb offers a stunning perspective of the caldera below. Upon reaching the rim, you will be rewarded with what is widely considered the second most spectacular view on the mountain, surpassed only by the summit itself.

Here, you can witness an incredible sunset where the silhouette of Mount Agung in Bali graces the western horizon, while plumes of smoke rise from the new volcanic cone beside the lake. We will camp on the rim tonight, immersed in the serene high-altitude landscape.

08:00 AM:  Wake up and enjoy a relaxed morning by Segara Anak Lake. This is your time to explore the shore, take a swim, or revisit the hot springs.

12:00 PM: Lunch is served at the lakeside camp.

01:00 PM: Begin the ascent from the lake toward the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m).

05:00 PM: Arrive at the Senaru Crater Rim. Set up camp and prepare for the spectacular sunset views over Mount Agung in Bali.

06:30 PM: Dinner at the campsite, followed by time to relax under the vast, starry sky.

Day 4: Senaru Crater Rim (2641m) – Senaru Village (601m)

Our final day on Mount Rinjani is a more relaxed descent.After breakfast accompanied by a beautiful sunrise, we will trek down through lush tropical forest to Senaru village. With some luck, we may spot the rare black monkeys that inhabit the area. We will take rest stops and enjoy lunch along the way. Upon arrival at the village, your car will be awaiting to transfer you to your next destination.

07:30 AM: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Senaru Crater Rim Campsite while taking in the last views from the ridge.

08:30 AM: Begin your descent to Senaru Village. The trail winds through stunning rainforest, offering shade and a cooler climate. Multiple rest stops are included along the way to rehydrate and rest. Look out for wildlife, including curious monkeys at certain rest points. Please do not feed or approach the monkeys.

1:30 – 3:30 PM: Arrive in Senaru Village (timing depends on group fitness levels and rest stops taken). Proceed directly to the Jou Trekking office.

1:40 – 3:40 PM: At the Jou Trekking office, retrieve your stored luggage and enjoy well-deserved refreshments.

2:15 – 4:15 PM: Following the refreshment stop, depart Senaru for your next destination, whether it’s a hotel, harbor, or another leg of your adventure.
