✈️ Getting to Anamaya: Your Step-by-Step Arrival Guide
We want your journey to paradise to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. Below is the exact step-by-step travel route to guide you directly from your international flight straight to our front desk.
Step 1: Your International Flight
Destination Airport: Book your international flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica.
Pro-Tip: Try to book an international flight that lands in the morning or early afternoon. This gives you plenty of daylight hours to seamlessly connect to your domestic transfer.
Step 2: Domestic Connection
The Flight: From SJO, you will take a quick, incredibly scenic domestic flight to Cóbano Airport.
The Experience: This flight takes less than 30 minutes. It bypasses hours of driving and ferry transits, flying you directly over the stunning Gulf of Nicoya and the lush canopy of the peninsula.
Step 3: Taxi Transfer to Anamaya Resort
The Route: Once you land at the Cóbano airstrip, you will take a 20-minute airport taxi ride straight to Anamaya. (This will be arranged for you and included in your cost. Arrangements will come once flight information is received).
The Experience: This short drive winds through the vibrant greenery of the southern Nicoya Peninsula. Keep your eyes open—this is often your very first glimpse of local wildlife and the rolling hills of Montezuma.
Step 4: Check-In & Settle In
Welcome Home: Upon arrival at Anamaya, our team will be waiting to greet you, hand you your keys, and help with your luggage. Guests check-in begins at 2pm on Saturday, May 15, 2027.
Your First Evening: Once you drop your bags in your room, take a deep breath of the fresh ocean air. You will have plenty of time to wander the resort grounds, check out the ocean-view yoga decks, and unpack before our group officially connects.
⚠️ Important Timing Note:
Because local airstrips are visual-guided and do not operate after dark, domestic flights from San José (SJO) to Cóbano only run during daylight hours (typically wrapping up by late afternoon).
If your international flight lands before 2:00 PM: You should have ample time to clear customs and catch the final afternoon domestic flight.
If your international flight lands after 2:00 PM: You will not make the last flight out. In this scenario, we highly recommend flying into San José one night early. Spending your first night near SJO allows you to wake up refreshed, catch an early morning domestic flight to Cóbano, and arrive at Anamaya completely stress-free. Many local airport hotels offer a free 5-minute shuttle to and from the terminals.
