Located in the heart of the Yasuní National Park, a UNESCO a Biosphere Reserve, the Napo Wildlife Center provides visitors with great opportunities to explore the treasures hidden in the sacred lands of the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador.

One of the particularities of this hotel is that it is 100% managed by the Kichwa Añangu community, making it the greatest example of a community-based project that benefits the local community and preserves the diverse flora and fauna of the area.

After landing,about mid-morning, 5 min transferwill take you to “La Mision” Port,where you will embark onto acomfortable covered motor boat.Here we start a canoe ride along theNapo River for about 2 hours, boxlunch is provided in route.Along the way, birds like herons,kingfishers and others can bespotted.After arriving at NWC’s entry dockwe disembark for restroom then takea majestic and peaceful 2 hourspaddle canoe ride surrounded bytrees, paddling along a narrow creekthat connects to the lake where thelodge is located.Chances to spot some species ofmonkeys as well as large birds liketoucans, parrots or even macaws.Late afternoon arrival to Napo WildlifeCenter with an overwhelming view ofthe Añangu Lagoon, and a welcomedrink followed by a briefing of thelocal manager.

Early wake up to reach the easiest access parrot claylicks in Ecuador, about 1 hour away from the lodge,guests reach there just before parrot activity kicks off atthe clay lick between 7:30 to 8:30. A total of 11 speciesof parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen.

Later, hike along forest trail to visit the KichwaInterpretation center “Kuri Muyu" handled by thewomen of the community, who are also known as“mamakuna”, to learn about the kichwa culture,crafts, customs and traditional use of naturalresources.Return to the creek and hike through a Terra FirmeForest for about 30 minutes until we arrive to thesecond parrot clay lick where if the weatherconditions help will be able to find different speciesof parrots, parakeets and even macaws. Lunch.You will be paddled back to the lodge, where youarrive at late afternoon for a delicious dinner,awaiting for you

After early breakfast, we leave the lodge to experience an amazing view of the rainforest from a 36m. tallcanopy tower, a great way to see the life above the ground of the forest.This is the second tower at the Napo Wildlife Center (the first is attached to the dining hall and allows greatviews of the lake). The tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep within the terra firme forest.As you ascend the 12-floor tower, you pass through different levels of the forest and emerge on top of ahuge Ceiba tree.Here you cross onto a wooden platform that is actually built into the tree and experience the view formerlyreserved only for the birds. The metal tower itself was constructed to the highest standards, galvanized, andcarefully inspected by engineers. Safety is the priority. The platform at the top of the tree was constructed bytree platform specialists as well. From top to bottom, there is no finer canopy experience in Eastern Ecuador.

Flocks of colorful tanagers pass right through thecanopy of the tree, Blue-and yellow Macaws fly past,in nearby tres Spider Monkeys search for fruit, twospecies of large toucans call in the early morningsand afternoons, and the life of the forest canopyopens before you. Birds that are virtually impossibleto see from the forest floor far below are suddenlyright beside you, oblivious to your presence.The canopy tower opens a whole new world to guestsof the Napo Wildlife Center!! Lunch served at thelodge. Afternoon visit to a terra firme trail, hike alongprimary forest to discover the forest interior,possibilities of finding lizards, colorful manakins orthe unique and endemic Golden mantle tamarinmonkeys.After the hike, explore the lake and creeks by dugoutcanoe with great possibilities of running into a Giantotter family.

 Early departure and last excursion canoeingback to the Napo river, the creek may revealnew sights of Giant otters, Monk Sakimonkeys or many other rare birds. Transfer tothe motorized canoe in order to return back toEl Coca, arrival approximately after a 2 hoursboat ride in order to check-in for Coca – Quitoflight, schedule to be announced according todeparture details and arrangements.

 A rewarding 30 minutes flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range is the beginning of this amazing experience.

After landing, a short 5 minute drive to the port in the Napo River will take you on to a comfortable covered motor boat. 

Here we start a boat ride along the Napo for approximately   2hours.Somebirdscanbespottedontheway.After arriving at Napo Wildlife Center’s welcoming area, we take a magical and peaceful 2 hour dugout-canoe along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located. Great chances to spot wildlife, various species of monkeys as well as large birds like toucans, parrots or even macaws. Late afternoon arrival at the lodge.

 After a buffet breakfast, experience the life above the forest floor visiting the 36-meter canopy tower. After lunch there are many options to choose from before you start the afternoon activity: climb the central tower for birdwatching, or just relax in your hammock. 

 In the afternoon, hike through a marvelous terra-firme forest to discover the ecology and the role of plants in the complex world of the Tropical Rain-Forest: vines, ancient trees, bromeliads, orchids stand out in this impressive natural garden. After the hike, explore the surrounding creeks with possibilities of running into a Giant otter family. A delicious dinner a waits for you at7:30pm.

This day we will travel to Pañacocha Lagoon, across the Napo River. Here, we will camp on spacious and comfortable tents, always maintaining a personalized service for our guests.

No question! A unique and unforgettable experience. We will leave the Napo Wildlife Center in the morning, sailing the marvelous Creek, where there is always magic on every corner. At the entrance to Pañacocha, after around 90 minutes, we will already observe animals of this side of the Amazon Rainforest.  

Once on site, we will receive an induction about this area and have lunch. Then, it’s time to go for a swim in the marvelous lagoon In  his area you will see the Igapó Forest, with chances to see Macaws,

Sloths, Squirrel Monkeys, Black - mantled tamarins, Capuchin monkeys, Anacondas and a lot more!!

Flora you would see here include the Coral Tree, Palm Tree and others!! Sailing through this wet land, with chances to see Black Caimans and different species of Birds.

After a delicious dinner, prepared by one of our Chefs, walk through the Forest trails at night time, discovering how life continues in the Rainforest at this time.

Early Very early departure and last excursion navigating to the Napo River, and through it until reaching the Añangu Community Dock to meet the other guests returning to El Coca.

Today we will walk the "guangana" trail, where we will reach 250 meters above sea level (high difficulty). This trail combines flooded and dry forest, swamps and biodiversity of plant species, offering another exciting experience inside the Ecuadorian Amazon. On this location named after white collared peccaries "guanganas" we will try to find this unique mammals that inhabit this place.

It is also likely to find jaguar and wild cat footpaths. During this hike, our local guide will explain about tropical rainforest ecosystems.

In the afternoon we will navigate the Añangucocha lagoon and its adjacent stream, called "cariañangu".

Throughout this tour we will appreciate the flora that surrounds this path, home of howler and spider monkeys, giant otters and many other species.

This day we will travel to “Tiputini” river, crossing through Amazon primary forest where we will camp inside the jungle in spacious and comfortable tents, always maintaining a personalized service for our guests. No question! A unique and unforgettable experience. For this activity you have two options:

The first is to enjoy a walk along the ”Tiputini” path inside the rain forest, where we will find creeks and swamps, searching for golden-mantled tamarins, capuchin and squirrel monkeys, 2 & 3 finger sloths; and other mammals. This walk lasts for about 7 hours (high-medium difficulty). The second option is to navigate the Napo River until we reach “Pompeya” town, the trip lasts approximately 1 hour. Afterwards we will take a car and drive for approximately 1h30, until we get to “Tiputini” river. Once we get there, our staff will be waiting for us, to make a motor canoe ride heading to Añangu territory – 20 minutes.

After a short walk close to the camp, our staff will serve you a delicious meal, then you will have the opportunity with our tour guides the best kayak paddling experience providing both serenity and adventure in Tiputini River with the opportunity y to observe pink dolphins and finally we ends with a refreshing dip in the river of the Amazon jungle.

At the end of the day, we will go back to the camp for dinner. In the evening you will have the opportunity to enjoy the jungle from another perspective, with its wonderful night sounds and the possibility to see different nocturnal species such as insects, reptiles and amphibians.

Early departure and last excursion navigating the whitewater of the “Tiputini” river, then take a local bus “chiva” heading to “Pompeya” town, where our staff will be waiting to take you to the City of Coca”.

This day we will visit the "Kichwa Añangu Community" where we will have the opportunity to interact with local people and learn about their culture and lifestyle.

We will also visit the school and common areas, as well as one of their homes, where a Kichwa family will host and tell us about their culture and traditions.

Additionally we learn how the Community has developed in recent years, improving education and health.

Lunch will be served at Napo Cultural Center.

In the afternoon we will walk to the observation tower, 40 meters high, located a few meters away from the lodge.

In this location we could spot different species of birds from the

mainland.

Finally we will walk to our second observation tower located in “Kury Muyo” south of the Community and very close to Napo River, where we could spot birds that live near the river and the beach ecosystems.

This day starts after breakfast. We will be hiking in primary Amazon forest on the “Samona” trail (mild difficulty) throughout the day.

During this walk we could possibly observe various mammals such as peccaries, deer, howler, saki, and barizo monkeys and many other species.

Additionally this is a great opportunity to learn about the local flora, and ancient trees whose properties have been used both for medicinal purposes and raw material for tools of everyday life within the Community.

During this journey we’ll travel to the lagoon and its small creeks we will go searching for giant otters and other emblematic species of this habitat that are occasionally observed in this section of the river branches.

This day we will visit the "Kichwa Añangu Community" where we will have the opportunity to interact with local people and learn about their culture and lifestyle. We will also visit the school and common areas, as well as one of their homes, where a Kichwa family will host and tell us about their culture and traditions.
