Itinerary and description:
Pick up from your hotel: 8h30 am
Return to the hotel: 17h30 approx.
We leave the hotel in Quito early in the morning, and start our expedition toward the northwest from the city. The variation in altitude will show us the importance of the Andes Mountains to determine our weather, and life zones as we have to go across the western mountains.
As soon as we start descending, the forest is going to change, tropical plants appear loaded up by epiphytes giving us the sensation of getting into the jungle.
Our first stop is at Alambi reserve, where we are going to have the opportunity to watch about 11 different species of hummingbirds, a few tanagers, euphonias among other species of birds.
We'll continue our way to the town of Mindo, as soon as we get there we have to be ready for learning about the Cacao process to make chocolate or to enjoy of the butterfly farm, or a great walk into the cloud forest to the waterfalls, you would choice what you want better, lunch will be served in the town.
After this marvelous day, we'll return to your hotel in Quito.
Important information to know:
- The climate in Mindo can be very variable with temperatures from 64° F to 85° F approximately with humidity.
We recommend to bring sweater, sun hat and a waterproof jacket in case of rain.
- Mindo is located at 4,100 ft above sea level.
- We recommend you to bring: sun glasses, mosquito repellent, bottle of water, hiking or walking shoes.
