About this trip

A stunning coastal and country girls getaway for you to enjoy, explore and experience!

Newcastle ~ Hunter Valley ~ Singleton ~ Morpeth ~ Maitland ~ Nelson Bay

6 Nights/7 Days

Arriving to Newcastle there’s so much to do, see, experience and enjoy – it's the kind of

place you'll visit and find sweet surprises around every corner. Situated on Australia’s east coast, Newcastle is surrounded by golden sandy beaches and a breathtaking coastline, and has a beautiful working harbour, with cafes, restaurants and bars stretching from the city to the suburbs. During our time in Newcastle we will enjoy staying in modern stylish apartments in the city centre within walking distance to everything. We will explore Newcastle's heritage and history through a guided bus tour on the "Famous Tram". We will feast on tapas and sangria and hit the Grand Hotel for a Tuesday Night Jazz session, lets get those smooth holidays vibes happening.

Once we venture inland we will find more culinary delights, architectural wonders, historical charm and natural attractions.  Staying in picturesque Pokolbin at a garden hotel in the heart of the beautiful Hunter Valley, you will discover cellar doors at award-winning wineries, elegant vineyard restaurants and enjoy an artisan cheese appreciation experience. Get stocked up on handmade chocolates for your trip and indulge in a picnic among the vines.

Staying in the country we visit Scenic Singleton and Magical Morpeth. Both of these small country towns have much to offer in terms of charm and character. Think High teas, boutique shopping experiences, candle cellar doors, antiques, art galleries and much much more.

For the last two nights of our tour we head to one of Sydneysiders most popular holiday destinations Nelson Bay for some true R & R. Book a massage, lay by the private pool, enjoy an oracle card reading or reiki session, take a 40 minute walk to Gan Gan lookout, indulge in some coffee and a spot of shopping before joining us at the Seabreeze hotel for sundowners and live music. Our last night sees us enjoying a 2.5 hour dining experience on the harbour.

This is a true Cosmopolitan & Charming, Country to Coast Girls Getaway.

1. As a visitor destination, Newcastle is the heartbeat of the Hunter and the only regional Australian city flanked by both a beach and working harbour waterfront.

2. Newcastle is only a one-hour direct flight from the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Melbourne, making it an easy getaway for this tour.

3. Newcastle is within easy access to amazing beaches in Port Stephens; world class wineries in the Hunter Valley and historic towns such as Singleton, Maitland, and Morpeth. (All of which we will visit all!)

4. Newcastle is a city with a rich history and quirky culture that includes a range of hip cafes and bars across the city. (we won’t visit all but will try) Great coffee is a must and the Jazz Bar too.

5. Newcastle has developed a strong reputation for its superb coffee, craft beer and local Hunter Valley wines. (We will visit at least 3 wineries, and one distillery, along with cheese and chocolate experiences)

6. Newcastle’s stunning beaches, laidback lifestyle, fascinating harbour, and eclectic arts scene are shining through the shadow of an industrial heritage. We will take a tour on the “Famous Tram” um which is a bus?? So, you get to see the heart of the whole city from shopping districts, to million-dollar mansions, historic sights, beaches and beyond, a great snapshot to start your stay in Newcastle.

7. Nelson Bay is also home to a lovely marina and pretty beaches, walks and shopping. For our last two nights we relax in this popular port town and enjoy the pub with live music on Friday night and we will dine on the water, enjoying a bay dinner cruise for our last evening. Our hotel is a retro style renovated hotel, with steam room, gym, pool, and best café in town!

8. Newcastle, Maitland and Morpeth all have great museums and galleries, some of which we will visit to get our fill of art, culture and history.

9. Newcastle is at the forefront of innovation and impact courtesy of collaboration with industry, research, and government. Developments in the city include a multi-million-dollar upgrade to Newcastle’s cruise terminal, a $17.8 million dollar investment in smart city technology and innovation, and the upgrade of Newcastle Airport to international standards. Newcastle has the vibe of a town going places with an energetic, but not frenetic vibe.

10. As a major regional city, Newcastle is less congested than metropolitan cities and allows quick and easy access for relaxed visitor experiences. It is easy for us to get around and we can include so many and varied activities you won’t believe everything is within a 1 hours drive.

You can see the taxis as you exit the main doors and staff are also there to assist. Williamtown Airport is very small and easy to navigate it only has two gates.

The 130, 131 and 138 buses will also take you to Newcastle Interchange from the airport and you can change to the tram from there. These buses run every hour or so. Really great day with likeminded people. Well-organised, fabulous food and activities. It was so good to have a day that was for Me and not work, family, etc, and knowing I am supporting such a worthwhile cause in India. Loved it!!!

A wonderful opportunity in training from the fabulous Tammie Day in learning to facilitate retreats. Tammie's knowledge and experience in the industry being such a valuable resource and the content shared to be able to use in future was invaluable. Tammie displays a perfect balance of professionalism and down to earth approach-ability, her humor and kind heart are also an asset to herself and her business. For anyone moving into facilitating retreats I would thoroughly recommend this training.

l have travelled with Tammie on many retreats: Bali, Fiji, Vanuatu, Awaba, Mount Alford and Port Douglas. Each retreat is a different experience with the same amount of care taken to ensure you feel safe and well catered for. There is always the right amount of adventure, local experiences and down time. The camaraderie between the women is warm and often hilarious. Tammie's organisational skills and attention to detail are smooth and seamless, which make for a most enjoyable experience. Western Australia here I come. Cheryl
