The North isles include some fantastic fishing grounds and what better way to explore the coastline and catch your own supper than on board a 125-year-old fishing boat with the wind in your sails!

Boarding in Mid Yell on Friday morning, the Skipper will prepare a route to sail around the coastlines of Yell, Unst and Fetlar, as far as weather and tides permit, stopping to anchor and enjoy a spot of fishing as you go.

Swan no longer uses nets or long lines so you will need to bring your own angling equipment, suitable for sea angling. You might catch cod, haddock, pollack, ling, whiting, mackeral, herring and halibut among other less common species in this area.

After a good day’s fishing, the crew will settle down to cook their catch and enjoy evenings of storytelling and socialising either in the saloon or perhaps ashore within the small communities of the north isles.

A voyage on Swan is very much a hands-on experience - you are part of her crew, and work as a team to make your voyage happen. As well as the fishing you will be expected to take part in sailing the boat, and all domestic chores and watches.  All tasks are shared and everyone joins in, from the most to the least experienced.  

Depart from Lerwick on Friday 8 May at 07:45 - bus transfer to Yell via ferry (08:45)

Boarding in Yell on Friday 8 May at 09:30

Disembark in Lerwick on Monday 11 May at 17:00

Please ensure you wear sensible footwear, with good grips, and warm clothing.

There are basic waterproofs onboard, however you may feel more comfortable in your own wet weather gear.

Unless the trip is fully booked before departure, in which case your berth has been resold and you receive a 90% refund, the following refund amounts will apply:

·        Cancellation over 90 days before departure: 75%

·        Cancellation 61 - 90 days before departure: 50%

·        Cancellation 31 - 60 days before departure: 25%

·        Cancellation 30 days or less before departure: 0%
