      About this trip

Under the shadow of Apu Ausangate, Cusco’s most sacred mountain, walk among villagers and their alpaca herds past glaciers and high alpine lakes, with rarely another trekker in sight.

Ausangate is one of the most breathtaking Andean hikes, with stunning crystalline lakes, soaring peaks and an abundance of wildlife, from llamas and alpacas, to the rare and endangered vicuña.

"Hi, We are a married couple from Norway age 57 and 59. We will travel to Peru for 3-4 weeks. We are fairly experienced trekkers, but not at all in this altitude ! We want to experience a part of the Andes combined with getting the feeling for the traditional culture in the region. We are a bit concerned about the altitude but hope for the best. “

Thanks to Lorena for organizing and William for being such a great guide! The food Remi made was amazing and totally vegan for us. We loved the Lares Trek because we were the only ones out there on the trails. And when we went to Machu Picchu on the last day, the mountain hike and learning about the city were certainly highlights. Excellent trip!

Incredible Experience!!! Trip of a lifetime for sure! So well managed and well planned! Nothing was left to chance. My daughter and I had a fabulous time. The food was amazing, the campsite was pristine every night, our guide Boneth was perfect and lovely and we called her a friend for a lifetime at the end of our journey.

Apus Peru did an amazing job in coordinating and leading our group's trek. The office staff was communicative before and during our trip. The operations team that went with us were all friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The food was delicious, the tents and beds were comfortable, and everyone was flexible based on the individual needs of our group. We had to do the hiking - but they covered almost everything else. Highly recommended.

This was a fabulous trip-- well organized, spectacular views, delicious food, knowledgeable guide and a fantastic adventure! I really can't say enough positive things about this trip and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the Andes mountains without the crowded tourist scene of Cuzco or Aguas Calientes.

We had an absolutely amazing trip with Adrian and our crew! We felt the first day was a little slow, but that was great in hindsight because the other days were pretty busy. Loved all of the Inca sites we visited with Adrian, and it was really cool that we were mostly alone at these places!! Even at the end we got to hang out in Machu Picchu at the Inca Trail viewing platform alone. Such a great experience with the cook and porters too. Our favorite thing was the ceremony we had with Adrian on Dead Woman Pass. So cool.

The Ausangate trekking with Apus Peru The Ausangate trekking was breathtaking in every way! To hike at an altitude of around 5000m and camp in frigid temperature is not an easy feat but it was worth it. The majesty of the glacier was simply amazing. Also, I have never dreamed of seeing the Milky Way so clearly. Our group of four was assisted by Aggripino, Miguel and Juan, three hard working muleteers. Leandro, our cook, fed us great food fit for the trekking. Finally, our awesome guide Arturo was very attentive and knowledgeable. A unique experience.
