I've had two great days diving with The Dive Gurus. No complaints, absolutely recommend them.

We had the best time!! Luke and everybody at Dive Gurus are so impressive and knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and the marine life. Equipment was well maintained, the staff cared about giving you a fun, safe experience. We did the Isla Islote tour and the wreck dive. It was incredible, I felt I was in great hands and our guide was great at spotting marine life and ensuring we all had a great time. I can’t wait to come back! (And hopefully get my advanced open water diving with them!) Also La Paz and the sea of Cortez is a divers dream! There is so much to see

Solid dive op. Dive masters (Mario, Luca, Tim) got all the gear ready and helped with sizing (they had backplate BCDs which was a nice bonus). Even with backplate weight, probably better to be overweighted than underweighted since Sea of Cortez is very salty and dives are fairly shallow (esp shallow for Sea Lions dive, so weights help if you’re doing GoPro video or photography in caves/tunnel). Small diving groups. Lunch good (as long as you have realistic expectations from food on a day dive trip). Good pre-diving briefings. We did 3 days of 2-tank dives. (Initially thought we’d be disappointed by only going out to do Los Islotes Sea Lion colony for 1 of those days, but Luke was right…1 d of 3 was enough…to allow exposure to the also excellent dive sites of La Reina (and La Reinita) with tons of moray eels, saw sea turtle, nice coral. And Sanvatierra Wreck was a nice change for wreck diving). Having said that, one HAS to do the Sea Lions diving experience at least once during your La Paz dive trip. The sea lion pups were so playful and fun, adult males interesting to watch. Didn’t even know it was on our bucket list until this trip. (So was whale sharks, which we booked through Dive Gurus link to MeXplore tour group, which was also excellent and truly epic to see whale shark world’s largest fish species SO close. Prob 1 excursion day trip with whale sharks enough IMO). (Dive Gurus supposedly gives free nitrox, but their Nitrox machine was down the week we visited. No problem though for us, since dives shallow, and dive times still approx 50 min per dive. And they comp’d other charges anyway. Max depth we did was 79 ft, with most of those dives still relatively shallow with average depth 40-50ft, and Sea Lions dives x2 super shallow at 10-20 ft average apart from a few moments to max depth of 30-50 ft to get down in cave to see playful sea lion pups. So nitrox vs air advantage probably would have been negligible. Diving still much better than snorkeling with sea lions even though shallow <20ft mostly). Also nice that Tony captain allowed us to have some down time after lunch at lunch site after the 2 dives to jump in water and swim in crystalline turquoise waters at peaceful beach near Balandra Beach, beautiful Saguaro-cacti covered cliffs. And to top it off, we were lucky enough to see humpback whales and a whole school of playful dolphins, the latter swimming and playing alongside the boat on the boat ride back to La Paz. Whether you go with Dive Gurus or another op, the boat rides to ALL scuba sites at Espiritu Santo Island and La Reina (and even whale shark snorklling tour) from La Paz are long, 1.5-2h. (Ie 8 am to 3 pm day. Back earlier at 1 pm if you do a closer site like Salvatierra wreck). Bring a towel, windbreaker if possible, hat (+/- gaiter scarf wrap to cover your face/neck if you don’t want sun/wind from high speed boat), sunglasses , sunblock, water bottle. (Dive Gurus office sells good reef-friendly sunblock, not to mention a book including nice commentary and amazing photography that Luke did which was nice souvenir.) Thank you Mario, Luca, Tim and Luke for great dive experience in La Paz!

The diving was excellent with lots to see and especially the cheeky sea lions! The Dive Gurus staff were fab. Thank you to captains Ernesto and Toni and Dive Guides Angela, Roman, Tim and Mario. I did 6 dives over 3 days so my only Slightly negative comment is that it would be good to have some cushions or padding on the benches especially on the smaller boat!! I hired all my equipment and it was to a very good standard of maintenance. Would definitely use them again!!

Amazing dive with tons of sea life of all kinds. Dive Guru was such a great dive shop and the best crew. They were so helpful, kind, and pointed out lots of creatures we would have missed without them. They took care of everything for us and made sure we felt comfortable in and out of the water.
