About your trip

With over 760 species recorded within its mostly forested borders, Honduras is undoubtedly one of the best countries for birding in Central America. Its size and location within the Northern Central America region means that it is home to a number of highly sought-after regional endemics or otherwise range-restricted species such as Highland Guan, Blue-throated & Keel-billed Motmots, Bushy-crested & Black-throated Jays, Rufous-browed Wren, and Blue-and-white Mockingbird among others, and an assortment of spectacular hummingbirds including Green-breasted and Green-throated Mountain-Gems, Garnet-throated, Amethyst-throated, Wine-throated, Sparkling-tailed, Azure-crowned, Berylline, and White-eared Hummingbirds. Most notably, the country is home to one true endemic, the beautiful and declining Honduran Emerald, one of many avian jewels we will endeavor to see on this trip. We will be staying at 2 lodges on this trip- the wonderful Pico Bonito and Panacam Lodges.
