Are you short on time but yearn for an authentic adventure?  Look no further than the Pimpilala Waterfalls day-tour.  This tour will take you on a memorable journey through the immense Amazon jungle.  Learn about ancient lore, cross a mighty river, swim in crystalline waters and climb to the powerful Devil’s Face waterfall.

At 9am, meet at the Akangau Jungle Expeditions office in Tena.  From there, travel by private car to the Pimpilala Waterfalls.  Pimplala means “butterfly” in the indigenous Kichwa language.  The falls gained this name because of the abundance of butterflies in the area. 

The adventure begins with a guided tour through the jungle along the waters.  You will learn more about the origin of the name and about the diverse flora and fauna in the area.   During the hike, you will cross the impressive Pimpilala River and pass various small waterfalls.  The adrenaline will spike again when you climb a waterfall to reach the majestic Devil’s Face Waterfall.  Some parts of this hike are technical and our expert guides will provide necessary assistance.

Slip into the refreshing, clean water of the natural pool formed at the base of the falls.  Let the sounds and water sooth away the stresses of daily life.
