Realizing that most of his life had been consumed by working domestically, a trip to Ghana changed his perspective. His experience transformed the way he saw traveling. As a result, he set out to encourage others to see the world through their own eyes, not only through the eyes of the media. You are invited to join Jay and his team on their adventures around the globe!

The trip to Kemet was PHENOMENAL! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting & bonding with all whom we traveled. The knowledge gained and the experience was life-changing. However, I am extremely disappointed with the overall expense of this trip!!!!!!! I am extremely upset & disappointed with how my travel mate & I were charged an astronomical fee to update the name on the booking at the eleventh hour even though I first communicated the change in travel companion during the May 31, 2022, zoom informational meeting. I added her as a guest/additional person to my booking in June 2022 in the "We Travel" tool as well as changed from a King bed to two Doubles, which now appears to have gone nowhere. I submitted all documents (travel insurance purchased June 1, 2022 flights purchased Aug 21, 2022, etc.) which listed the new companion's name. Obviously there was a breakdown in communication. Was there anyone tasked with reviewing the actual content in the system? I made all required payments on time (via auto-pay) and never received notice that the name wasn't changed. I happened to notice that correspondence was still being sent to my original companion instead of my new companion so I went into the We Travel tool once again on Oct 29, 2022 and removed my original companion by updating the fields with my new companion. I thought all along that everything was fine until I received an email on Nov 10, 2022 stating that I could not change my travel companion and that she could not travel. This was three days before our scheduled departure! IF THE CHANGE WAS NOT ALLOWED, THEN THE SYSTEM SHOULDN'T HAVE ALLOWED ME TO MAKE THE UPDATE!!! I immediately placed an international call to the person who sent the email. After multiple calls & emails I was charged $570 plus fees on Nov 11, 2022 to cover the name change (which still didn't seem to get shared because during roll calls during the trip they were still looking for my original travel companion). This fee on top of the over $8200 plus fees for the trip then the $245 for excursions which seemed to actually be covered in the local booking company's package (we discovered this fact by chatting with the other travel groups cruising the Nile with us then confirming via their website). We began to ask questions after the camel ride that we paid extra for but everybody got to take without any type of list being verified), Had we booked with the local tour company, we would have paid a third of what we spent. I am extremely disheartened by learning this info. We were all set to book our Ghana trip through you guys at breakfast on Nov 22, 2022, UNTIL we discovered the incredibly lower price of booking through the local company. My hard-earned dollars will go so much further in my future trips. My trust has been broken which also breaks my heart because I feel like I've been taken advantage of by family. I had an amazing (10/10) experience in Egypt with this group. The organization of the trip exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed how much knowledge I was able to gain after being there. I have came back home with everyone asking, “Why Egypt?”, or, “Egypt is so random to go to; what’s in Egypt?”, and my response has been, “It was everything and more”. Thank you to Jay Cameron and all the other organizers for making this such a great learning opportunity to not only see our roots, but also dwell amongst them. If you do not go anywhere else, Egypt needs to be placed as top priority of your bucket list! P.s. Our tour group specifically was Maximum Impact’s all-time favorite 😊🤣

I don't even know where to begin besides stating simply that this trip... was EVERYTHING! I literally have been telling everyone about my incredible experience. From the beginning to the end, this was an unbelievable experience. My travel crew and I literally only had to show up. Everything else was taken care of for us. Literally, every detail was taken care of from top to bottom. Our group leader Jay always made sure that we were kept in the loop with every part of the trip. He made sure to prepare us before we even arrived. I loved the fact that we had videos and calls leading up to the trip that prepared us fully even down to what to pack and what the weather would be like! Once we arrived we were greeted so warmly by Mohammed and assured that we were in great hands. Our tour guide, Tarek was beyond knowledgeable on everything! The amount of history he was able to impart upon us was astonishing and his passion for it showed. Our entire trip was filled with so many adventures, learning opportunities and remarkable experiences. When I speak to others who have traveled to Egypt before and share my experience, they are astonished at how much I did comparatively in mine and have shared that hearing about my experience has made them want to come back with Urban Intellectuals. Every day was literally a new adventure and no two days were ever the same. Lastly, we started out as strangers with the rest of the group but quickly became family. This was indeed something so special and beautiful because if not for Urban Intellectuals we would have never been connected to so many people from so many different places and walks of life. Although I am physically back in the States my spirit is back in Egypt! I can't wait until my next trip with Urban Intellectuals and I'm already signed up for Ghana! Thank you to the entire team for a truly unforgettable experience!

This trip celebrated milestone birthdays for my Mom (90) and Grandson (21). It was everything I'd hoped for. I concur with the reviews of my fellow travelers regarding the itinerary, therefore, I will devote my entire review to the 1st class customer service by Jay and his crew in Ghana. My physical health changed over the summer and I now use a rollator walker and wheelchair. My luggage made it on to the shuttle, however, my mobility aids were left on my driveway! On Sunday, when I realized we'd need more than the canes, Jay and Morris had already sourced wheelchairs for pick up on Monday morning. Throughout the whole trip, Jay's crew, both staff and contractors, assisted my Mom and me; this enabled my Grandson to experience and enjoy the full breadth of the itinerary. Jay also made adjustments to the itinerary based on requests; as a result we attended opening night of Wakanda Forever; we revisited the arts center; and got a boutique to open their doors on a Sunday morning just for us. We ended up having an extra day in Ghana, courtesy of Delta Airlines. I asked Morris for the name of a bookstore, to my surprise, he offered to accompany me. He spent all day Monday with us from noon until we passed through the security checkpoint. This was my first land tour. I am used to traveling independently; or jazz cruising. I will definately travel with Urban Intellectuals and Maximum Impact again. Thank you! The Nelsons Ms. Betty, Alycee, and Lance

I had the absolute privilege of joining the Gateway Experience Ghana, July 2022. There's only one word to describe it - TRANSFORMATIVE. Jay has done the work and created a truly phenomenal travel experience. Because of his efforts, I connected with the ancestors, with Ghanaians, with Africans and with myself. I fell in love with Ghana and am now planning to move there. Jay and his local team - the incomparable Morris and the loyal Ernest - took care of every detail and provided a trip that was informative, enjoyable and safe. I don't think I could have that experience with any other tour operator. From now on, I will only travel with Jay and Maximum Impact when I visit any place in Africa. In fact, my group and I are planning to travel together again to Tanzania next year. It's just that deep. If you love Black people and Blackness, then love yourself by booking a trip with Maximum Impact!

They are thorough and very attentive as there are several steps to traveling to Ghana; the entire Maximum Impact team made the booking process seamless with EASY-to-follow instructions. All questions I had were answered promptly and professionally. And, oh my goodness, once you get to Ghana, you will be warmly received by the Maximum Impact team and treated like a V.I.P. Accommodations are clean and super-comfortable and offer all amenities. Don’t hesitate booking the trip if you’re traveling solo as I was. It’s a trip of a lifetime where you will meet wonderful traveling companions, tour the country with knowledgeable guides and wish that the trip was longer. I LOVED IT! A powerful and stirring cultural tour that also includes fun-loving activities. Outstanding job by Maximum Impact. I’m already planning my next tour with you.
