Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu — The Lost City of the Incas

Perched nearly 8,000 feet above sea level in the breathtaking Peruvian Andes, Machu Picchu is one of the world's most extraordinary archaeological treasures. Built in the 15th century during the reign of Inca emperor Pachacuti, this remarkable citadel is believed to have served as a royal estate and ceremonial center. Its intricately fitted stone walls, agricultural terraces, sacred temples, and sophisticated water systems reveal the extraordinary ingenuity of the Inca civilization. Abandoned during the upheaval of the Spanish conquest, Machu Picchu remained largely unknown to the outside world until its international recognition in 1911, though local communities had long known of its existence.

Today, this UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World continues to inspire awe and fascination. Surrounded by towering peaks and mystical cloud forests, its sacred spaces reflect the Incas' profound relationship with the natural world, the movements of the sun, and the mountains they revered. Many questions about Machu Picchu's original purpose remain unanswered, adding to the mystery of this extraordinary place. Walking among its ancient temples and terraces is more than a journey through history; it is an opportunity to experience the beauty, wisdom, and enduring legacy of one of humanity's most remarkable civilizations.

To secure your place in our planned Machu Picchu excursion, please register by May 15, 2027. Registrations received after this date are subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee entrance tickets or train reservations.

If you'd like to join us after May 15, please contact us before registering so we can confirm availability.

About Settle Into Stillness

For us, there would be no life without music. It permeates every aspect of our lives, and sharing its beauty with others is at the heart of everything we do. When you join us for Radiant Horizon — Yoga, Sound & Wellness Retreat in Peru, you can expect your journey to be infused with beautiful music from beginning to end.

Founded in 2011 by Jeremy Arndt and Nancy Grzeszak, Settle Into Stillness has spent more than 15 years exploring the relationship between music, mindfulness, and human connection. Our work has taken us across six continents, studying musical traditions, building relationships with artists and instrument makers, and sharing our Sound Journeys with thousands of people around the world. What began as a shared passion has grown into a community of musicians and seekers united by a love of sound, stillness, and meaningful connection.

For this extraordinary retreat, we'll be joined by Parker Horsch and Sarah Paz Hyde, bringing the full Settle Into Stillness Ensemble to the majestic Sacred Valley of Peru. Together, we'll weave an expansive tapestry of handpans, gongs, crystal singing bowls, didgeridoo, flutes, strings, voice, world percussion, and more. From live musical accompaniment during yoga to deeply immersive evening Sound Journeys, every experience will be created in the moment, guided by intuition, artistry, and a shared devotion to the music.

Our Sound Journeys are more than traditional sound baths. Each is a carefully crafted experience, a story told without words, gently guiding you inward through evolving melodies, rhythms, textures, and moments of profound stillness. Rather than promising healing or transformation, we create an inviting space for you to rest, reflect, reconnect, and discover whatever unfolds naturally within your own experience.

At the heart of our music is something beautifully simple: human connection. Every note reflects years of practice, travel, deep listening, and relationships with the cultures and artisans who inspire our work. Our music is lovingly handmade, offered with intention, and shared from the heart.

This is sound made by humans, for humans. This is Settle Into Stillness.

About our Yoga Teachers

About Nancy Grzeszak:

Nancy is inspired by the deep well of knowledge that exists within our own being. Since 2004, she has been exploring this internal wisdom through Yoga, meditation, and sound. Her love of Yoga and pursuit of inspiration has taken her across the world to 22 different countries.

Her passions within the timeless practice of Yoga include Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. She finds that the mind and body’s innate wisdom most often reveal themselves when residing in stillness. She completed her 200 hour Yoga teacher training certification with Prairie Yoga, based in Lisle (Chicago), Illinois in 2014, Relax and Renew® Level 1 Certification with Judith Hanson Lasater in 2017, and Lizzie Lasater’s 30 hour Restorative Yoga Training in 2019.

As one of the founders of Settle Into Stillness, Nancy shares the transcendent vibrations of Gongs, Crystal Singing Bowls, and more. She approaches these powerful vibrational instruments with a graceful mastery and deep listening, creating a soothing atmosphere that allows the listener to reconnect with themselves, their breath, and their true essence.

It is her deepest desire to create more love in this world by revealing the gift of stillness, and creating a soothing and nurturing space which facilitates healing for all.

Why Travel With Us?

Why Travel With Us

Learn more about our retreats and our travel philosophy on our website.

For us, travel has never been about simply visiting beautiful places. It's about connecting with people, discovering different ways of life, and experiencing the world with curiosity, openness, and respect.

Together, we've spent decades exploring the world, including more than five cumulative years immersed in local cultures across Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas. From living alongside local communities to navigating unfamiliar places through slow, independent travel, our experiences have shaped not only how we see the world, but how we share it with others.

We believe the most meaningful travel experiences happen when we move beyond the surface of conventional tourism. When we organize a retreat, we draw upon our firsthand experiences, longstanding relationships, and deep appreciation for local traditions to create journeys that are both culturally enriching and personally meaningful. Our goal is not simply to show you a destination, but to help you connect with its people, landscapes, history, and living traditions in ways that feel genuine and respectful.

Thoughtfully Planned, Personally Supported

We understand that traveling somewhere unfamiliar can feel both exciting and overwhelming. That's why we're here to support you from the moment you register until you return home.

We offer personalized travel guidance, help coordinate your arrival, and include convenient airport transfers arranged around individual travel schedules whenever possible. Behind the scenes, we thoughtfully manage the details so you can relax and be fully present for the experience.

Our retreats are intentionally designed to balance meaningful exploration with rest, reflection, and personal freedom. Every activity is optional. Whether you wish to participate in everything or take an afternoon to yourself, we encourage you to experience the journey in whatever way feels right for you.

We also believe that some of the most memorable moments are the ones that cannot be scheduled. We leave room for spontaneity, unexpected discoveries, thoughtful surprises, and those beautiful little experiences that make a journey truly unforgettable.

A Community That Travels Beyond the Retreat

The connections formed during our retreats often extend far beyond the journey itself. Guests are invited to join our retreat WhatsApp group to connect before arrival, communicate throughout the experience, and stay in touch afterward.

You'll also be welcomed into our private community of adventurous travelers, artists, and kindred spirits, where friendships and shared experiences can continue long after you've returned home.

You may not have months or years to immerse yourself in another culture as we have, but when you travel with us, our hope is that you'll experience something deeper than a typical vacation: a genuine connection with the world, with others, and with yourself.

Yoga for EveryBODY

Yoga for EveryBODY

Whether you're stepping onto a yoga mat for the very first time or have been practicing for decades, you are welcome here.

Throughout Radiant Horizon, you'll be guided by our experienced yoga facilitators, Jane Bloom of Dwell Yoga, Dana Christian Lee, and Nancy Grzeszak, each bringing their own unique approach, wisdom, and warmth to the practice.

Our retreat offers a thoughtful balance of movement, stillness, and restoration. From energizing morning yoga to deeply nourishing Yin and Restorative practices, meditation, and Yoga Nidra, each session is an invitation to reconnect with your body, quiet your mind, and simply be present.

Many of our practices are accompanied by beautiful live music from the Settle Into Stillness Ensemble, creating an experience that extends far beyond the traditional yoga studio.

There is no expectation to perform, achieve, or keep up with anyone else. Our teachers offer guidance and modifications to support a wide range of abilities, ages, body types, and experience levels. We encourage you to listen to your body, honor your needs, and approach each practice with curiosity and compassion.

We also recognize that this is your retreat. Every activity is optional, and you're always welcome to choose rest, quiet reflection, time in Willka T'ika's beautiful gardens, or an afternoon of personal exploration instead of a scheduled session.

Our intention is simple: to create a welcoming, supportive environment where you can move, breathe, rest, and reconnect in whatever way feels right for you.

Have questions about whether this retreat is a good fit? We'd love to hear from you. Send us an email, and we'll be happy to help.

Travel Requirements

Travel Requirements - Passport, Visa & Travel Safety Information

Passport & Entry Requirements

To enter Peru, U.S. citizens must have a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity from their date of entry and at least one blank page for an entry stamp. U.S. citizens traveling for tourism do not need a visa for stays of 90 days or less.

For our retreat, all participants must provide accurate passport information in advance to secure Machu Picchu entrance tickets, train reservations, and other travel arrangements. We strongly recommend checking your passport's expiration date well in advance of your trip.

For the most up-to-date information about traveling to Peru, please visit the U.S. Department of State:

US State Department - Peru

Travel Advisories & Safety

As of October 2026, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2 travel advisory for Peru, recommending increased caution due to crime, civil unrest, and other security concerns.

Certain regions of Peru carry higher-level travel warnings. However, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu are not within the areas designated Level 4 (Do Not Travel).

These are well-established international tourism destinations, although travelers should remain attentive to their surroundings and practice sensible precautions. We recommend avoiding unnecessary travel alone at night, keeping valuables secure, using reputable transportation, and following the guidance of experienced local hosts and guides.

As experienced international retreat organizers, we work closely with trusted local partners and thoughtfully coordinate transportation and excursions to help make your journey as comfortable and well-organized as possible.

Travel advisories and local conditions can change, so we encourage all participants to review the latest official guidance before departure.

Health and Altitude Considerations

Health & Altitude Considerations

Peru's Sacred Valley and the surrounding Andes are located at higher elevations than many travelers are accustomed to. Willka T'ika sits at approximately 9,400 feet above sea level, while Cusco is approximately 11,150 feet and Machu Picchu approximately 7,970 feet.

We encourage guests to allow time to acclimatize, stay hydrated, take activities at their own pace, and consult their healthcare provider before traveling if they have concerns about altitude or existing medical conditions.

We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance, including medical coverage, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation protection.

Travel Insurance Recommendations

Travel Insurance Recommendations

We strongly recommend that all retreat participants purchase comprehensive travel insurance to protect their investment and provide peace of mind while traveling internationally.

Unexpected circumstances can arise before or during any journey, including illness, injury, flight cancellations, travel disruptions, or family emergencies. Because retreat payments are subject to our cancellation policy, travel insurance can provide important financial protection.

We encourage guests to consider policies that include trip cancellation and interruption, emergency medical coverage, medical evacuation, travel delays, and lost or delayed baggage.

Three established travel insurance providers worth considering are:

  • Travel Guard — Offers a variety of travel insurance plans with trip cancellation, medical, emergency evacuation, and other travel protection benefits.

  • World Nomads — Offers international travel insurance plans with medical, trip cancellation, emergency evacuation, and adventure activity coverage options.

  • Allianz Travel Insurance — Offers comprehensive travel protection plans with options for trip cancellation, emergency medical care, travel interruptions, and baggage protection.

  • WeTravel also offers their own travel insurance upon checkout.

We encourage guests to compare policies, review coverage limits and exclusions, and select a plan appropriate for their individual travel needs, including activities at higher elevations in Peru.

We recommend purchasing coverage soon after registering for the retreat, as certain benefits, including some pre-existing medical condition waivers and optional Cancel for Any Reason coverage, may only be available when purchased within a specified period after your initial trip payment.

Please review your policy carefully to ensure it provides appropriate coverage for travel to Peru, including activities at higher elevations and your full nonrefundable trip costs.

Settle Into Stillness does not sell or administer travel insurance. The travel insurance offered at checkout is offered via WeTravel. Coverage, exclusions, eligibility, and claim decisions are determined by the insurance provider and the specific policy purchased.
