Staying at Klaserie, you’ll be treated to a real off-the-beaten-track safari. Far from the madding Kruger crowds, you’ll meet very few other vehicles when you set off through the bush in your open-topped jeep. This lends the game drives here a really epic, authentic feeling that no longer exists in many other reserves.
The wildlife viewing is second to none in Klaserie. As well as the Big Five, the reserve is home to giraffe, zebra, warthog, spotted hyaena, baboon, hippo, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, waterbuck, wildebeest, bushbaby and mongoose! In addition, you may see wild dog, cheetah, bat-eared fox, honey badger, porcupine, aardvark, civet, caracal and serval. Up in the trees, all kinds of birds twitter into the twilight, making it a brilliant destination for birders.
Game drives are conducted throughout the year at optimum viewing times when game activity is generally at its peak, i.e. early morning and late afternoon into evening. We will be utilising a private 4x4 landcruiser and field guide, meaning we have complete control and maximum flexibility to get the best photographs possible. Our photographic group will comprise a maximum of six guests, to ensure extra space and comfort whilst on game drive. Back at the lodge between drives is the perfect time and location to look at photo cataloging and processing.
During your stay there will be the opportunity for you to go on an unforgettable helicopter tour over the local Panorama Route and see Greater Kruger area from a whole new perspective. Our experienced pilot and guide will take you on an exhilarating journey from the Lowveld to one of the largest canyons on earth! The Blyde River canyon may be the largest “green canyon” due to its lush subtropical vegetation. This magnificent canyon is largely untouched by humans and is a wonder to experience from the helicopter. See for yourself where the next Tom Cruise movie, Mission Impossible 8, was filmed!

Upon landing at Hoedspruit, you will be met at the Arrivals area by a representative of the guesthouse you will be staying at (African Rock Lodge)
The guesthouse is only 20mins away, and here you will meet the rest of your group, relax, have an evening meal before getting a good night's sleep.
After a hearty breakfast, the group will head out via private transfer to Klaserie. This drive is approximately 1.5 - 2hrs long.
Our eta at Klaserie is early afternoon, just in time to get settled in, refreshed and have a bite to eat before heading off on the first game drive!
Each day follows the same schedule, where we will be up and departing for our morning game drives just before sunrise. Game drives last around 3hrs but times are flexible depending on what we are seeing.
Breakfast is ready upon our return, and then the rest of the day is your own time. Whether it's relaxing in your room, taking a dip in the pool or working with Sam to elevate your photography - you'll find this in-between time flies by just as fast as the game drives!
We meet together for a lunch before having time to prep for game drive. We head out mid-afternoon and will return back to the lodge at night in hopes for some nocturnal animals. Dinner is served upon our return.
We depart Klaserie in the morning, making sure we get a final morning game drive and delicious breakfast. We aim to get back to Hoedspruit airport for afternoon connecting flights back to Johannesburg.
