About your trip

Relax, craft and practice yoga in the beautiful driftless region of Minnesota! This retreat will take place at a beautiful bed & breakfast near the Iowa border, not far from Lanesboro, MN. What is the driftless region? It's where countless bluffs create smooth flowing rivers and there are NO MOSQUITOS!! The warm and welcoming hosts have created space for you to unwind, meet new people, grow your yoga practice and explore the creative side of yourself!

Our retreat will  be held in a beautiful brick B&B, custom built for large groups. The building is full of intricate but grand details including an elegant staircase, ornate crown moulding throughout, and large windows for sweeping views of the countryside. Guestrooms are unique - each with their own theme, with the same victorian, hand-crafted feel as the rest of the house. The home is full of breathtaking art, created by the owner herself. Take time to walk room by room, exploring the detail of each creation. There's plenty of space here to spread out, either inside or outside, to lounge, catch up with friends or take time to practice your meditation.

Discover your craft on this extended weekend! Learn the art of bookbinding while you create your own journal in art class! There's plenty of other crafting options too....there will be craft kits available for purchase in the gift shop (along with books, jewelry, stickers, etc.), or you can bring your own project that has been eyeing your time! If paper crafts aren't your thing, you can always....make your own yoga mat! That's right - pick a design, print, press and roll it up to take home with you!!

There will be endless other opportunities for "me" time. There's a 2-mile hiking trail right on the property and other hiking trails nearby.  Visit the nearby towns of Spring Grove or Lanesboro. Hiking, biking, birding, reading, snoozing, tea-drinking....or maybe you're looking to simply take in some silence - there's room for that, too. This retreat is yours for the making.

Practice your yoga!

There will be a mix of yoga styles offered during this retreat: Gentle, Stretching, Vinyasa, Advanced, Yin, Restorative...it will all depend on the group's desires! Our private yoga studio offers mats, blocks, blankets, straps and bolsters for use. Feel free to bring your own props, especially if you like to be really cushy during those lovely restorative classes.

There will be FOOD. Really GOOD food!

Our private chef will prepare deliciously crafted, healthy, vegetarian meals in the onsite commercial kitchen. Dietary restrictions will be accomodated, just make a note when you register. Breakfasts always offer homemade granola, greek yogurt and fruit with coffee & orange juice. You might also see cranberry oatmeal bake, avocado toast made with farm-fresh bread and freshly laid eggs, or hashbrown egg bake! Lunch could be quinoa salad with avocado & orange dressing, Thai lettuce wraps, or spinach salad with strawberries, walnuts, & feta.  The dinner menu might contain vegetable quiche with fresh fruit compote,  veggie protein bowl, build your own potato bar or tacos. Desserts that might be on your plate include blueberry plum upside-down cake, black bean brownies, rhubarb crisp, butterscotch chocolate chip cake, or spicy mango oatmeal bars.  Water, coffee, iced tea and Arnold Palmers are available all day long. Specialty coffee drinks available throughout the day for an additional fee.

Learn to bind your own book

The owner of the B&B is an artist who has a plethora of talent in crafts! On Saturday afternoon, she will lead the group in a book-making class, where you will design your own Traveler's Notebook (see pictures). This book is unique; you'll learn how to bind together sections of pages into an expandable book. This style of book is able to grow with you; after this class you'll know how to make additional sections of pages to add to the book for further travels! The book can be a journal, scrapbook, gifted or a photo album! All tools and supplies will be provided; decorate the book to your heart's content! There will be plenty of time and materials to turn your journal into a " vision book" if you'd like! Cost of the Traveler's Notebook materials is $45, added to the retreat on the registration page. There are a variety of other craft kits available for purchase during the retreat, some of which are pictured in the photo gallery.

The CRAFT of all crafts.....

Have you ever considered making your own yoga mat?  Make your own eco-friendly yoga mat on this retreat!  The mats are made from 100% natural tree rubber with recycled polyester and nylon tops. There's a plethora of designs to choose from at the retreat, and.........Trisha will also supply a portfolio of her nature photography for you to choose from! Pick a design, print the picture, turn on the press and walk away with a fresh yoga mat, made by you! Foldable,  washable, take it with you anywhere. Not sure if you'll like it? Custom made mats will be available for you to try during our yoga classes so you'll get a feel for how the mats perform during a variety of classes! The cost of the yoga mat will depend on the design you choose; starting at $137.

What will I do with myself?

You will have plenty of opportunities to craft, read, chat, cuddle the dog, nap or if you must, connect to the fiber optic wifi and watch a show! If you need a dog fix, Auggie would LOVE for you to throw his ball (and he's pretty quick)! There's yard games, board games and card games. How about a massage? Swedish, deep tissue and Thai massage are all available to book during the retreat. Maybe you'd prefer to simply lounge in the outdoor spaces and take in the views or meditate on your freshly printed yoga mat! Connect with nature and take yourself on a walk! The Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail is nice with the option for a 1, 2 or 3.5 mile hike! Plan ahead and book a tour of Spring Grove Soda Pop to learn how the town of Spring Grove got its name and how their soda is bottled. Of course you could bring your bike and head to nearby Lanesboro for an afternoon of biking the Root River Trail or shopping.

How do I get there?

The drive will take 3-4 hours one way from the North Metro. Make this road trip a beautiful addition to your retreat by taking the route along the St. Croix through Red Wing. You'll experience the amazing sandstone bluffs and winding rivers in the Southern part of the state.  Carpooling is highly encouraged and with enough interest, Trisha is happy to help arrange carpool groups!
