Arrive Milan : Welcome Mass : Welcome Dinner :

Upon our arrival in Milan, we pass through customs and collect our bags before being greeted by our Pilgrimage Escort. With introductions out of the way, our group will proceed to our hotel to check in and rest. This evening, we gather for a special Welcome Mass at a local church followed by a celebratory dinner to close the day!

Tour of the Old City : The Last Supper : Transfer to Turin :

We begin with a visit to Milan’s famous Duomo along with other sites in the Old City before finishing our Milan experience with a viewing of and reflecting on Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper. Departing Milan, we travel West to the city of Turin and settle in for an overnight stay.

Visit Valdocco : St. John the Baptist: La Consolata :

We start our day with a visit to Valdocco, a neighborhood of Turin that’s well known for a complex of buildings related to St. John Bosco and the beginning of the Salesian Family. Our pilgrimage will include a visit to the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, the Casa Don Bosco Museum, the Church of San Francesco di Sales and the Pinardi Chapel. After lunch, we proceed to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist to visit the tomb of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Time permitting, we will then walk to the nearby Santuario della Consolata to view the spectacular works of art held within.

Chieri : Colle Don Bosco : Depart Turin : Arrive Mornese

Just outside of Turin, we soon discover the town of Chieri. Here, we will visit the home of St. Dominic Savio as well as explore other sites significant to St. John Bosco. Later, we transfer to the Colle Don Bosco, a collection of buildings that were constructed to celebrate the life and works of the saint.

Mornese :

We bid farewell to Turin and enjoy a short drive through the countryside until we arrive in Nizza where, for a time, the Salesian Mother House was located. Later, we complete our journey to the idyllic town of Mornese, a place steeped in the Salesian Sisters’ history and service. Our group will enjoy a special pizza lunch prepared by the local Salesian Sisters and then spend the remainder of the afternoon exploring the town under their guidance.

Transfer to Assisi via Nizza

We spend our morning completing our exploration of Mornese. Later, we board our bus and set out on the long drive through Tuscany with an eye toward tranquil Assisi. Upon our arrival, we settle into our hotel and gather for a group dinner to close the day.

St. Francis : St. Clare : Convent of San Damiano : Free Afternoon :

Our whole day is spent experiencing the serene beauty of Assisi. We visit the basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clare, as well as the Convent of San Damiano before enjoying some free time to explore the town at our own individual pace.

Depart Assisi : Orvieto : Arrive Rome : 

We bid farewell to Assisi and set a course for Rome. Along the way, we stop in Orvieto to learn of the Eucharistic Miracle that took place there as well as to enjoy a sampling of the local vintage for which the town is famous, the Orvieto Classico. Later, we complete our journey to Rome and proceed to our hotel to settle in for the evening.

Monte Cassino : Subiaco : 

Before the Youth Jubilee begins, we take this day to visit two more special places outside the city of Rome. First, we visit Monte Cassino Abbey – founded by St. Benedict many centuries ago. We next explore Subiaco, where the Cave of St. Benedict is located. With ample time for prayer and reflection throughout, we use this day of tranquility to prepare ourselves for the busy and exciting days ahead.

Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)  

Over the course of this week, pilgrims will participate in a variety of special events in connection with the Youth Jubilee. While not a comprehensive list, the following are just a few of the sites and experiences the group will enjoy during this time:

- The four major basilicas of Rome; St. Peter’s, St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, and St. Paul Outside the Walls. 

- Viewing of relics, including those of St. John Paul II, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, and St. Faustina.

- The Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel.

- The Mother House of the Salesian Sisters in Rome, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, and the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli.

During this week, the group will not enjoy the services of your Tour Escort and will instead rely on the leadership of your Salesian hosts. Breakfast and dinner will still be provided at your hotel each day, however.

Return Home :

Today, we return home after a truly special pilgrimage that has left our souls uplifted and our hearts on fire.
