We had an amazing tour guide Adan!!! His energy was amazing and although the hike is physically challenging being with CA travelers made this trip fun and enjoyable. Sunrise hike was incredibly worth it! Definitely would do it again! 

Great service, on time. Our customer liked the transfer from Antigua to Petén, and it was easy to communicate with the CA Travel team. Definitely we will work with them whenever we need it.

This was such an amazing experience! Highly recommend booking with ca travelers. We loved our guide Adan, who had wonderful energy, made us laugh, and kept us going through the hardest parts. Do the sunrise hike -it was the most epic experience of my life! 

Driver was good but vehicle AC didnt work in back of bus so became very uncomfortable due to heat.

My guides, Jadan and Jefferson, were so fun and supportive and really made the experience special. The accommodations were great and meals were tasty. I could not recommend them enough! 

My shuttle was late picking me up so I called the CA Travelers office and they were able to give me an update and made sure I got on the shuttle. Super communicative and could not recommend them enough!

We couldn't take the trip because of the high activity of the Fuego begin August, but the organization was really helpful in sending us updates and quick in providing the refund. 

It was a great experience! The guide took care of us as well and as the ATVs. The views were spectacular!

La experiencia fue muy buena. La comida es muy rica, la estancia en el campamento es muy cómoda y los guías Lorena, Gerson, David y Marvin estaban muy pendientes de todos, de cómo te sentías en la subida, recomendaciones y siempre priorizando nuestra seguridad

It was an amazing experience! Everything was very well organized and on time. We loved the hot chocolate at the base camp and the  food overall was great for a trip like this! We would always do the Acatenango Hike again with CA travelers:)

Very good tour, the guides were super nice and accommodating, I took my time hiking and they were very patient and made sure the whole group was safe.   

This tour was amazing! Seeing Fuego erupt was the highlight of my trip to Guatemala so far. CA Travelers were very helpful and provided us with everything we needed for the hike. Our guides, Marvin, Anderson and Davis, were so fun, knowledgable and adaptable to ensure we got the best views of Fuego erupting. Thank you for a great experience!! 

My friend and I were really pleased with the value of CA Travel’s Acetenango hike, as it was a competitive price compared to the other tour companies and had a lot more gear included. The staff were all super helpful and friendly too. Unfortunately myself and many others in my group (at least 5 others) got food poisoning on this hike from the food provided. This led to me not being able to complete the Fuego or Summit hike on the second day and needing to descend the mountain early.

Rente la mochila, y fue una buena decisión. Estan muy bien y preparadas.

Honestamente tuvimos una mala experiencia con servicio de traslado hacia Panajachel, a la ida iban con música durísima y apenas eran las 6:00 de la mañana. Siento que por cortesía deberían al menos haberse presentado e indicar que nos iban a llevar hasta Panajachel donde allá veríamos a los encargados del tour. EL TOUR es todo un ESPECTACULO,  esto si que vale mil veces la pena, Alex y Hector fueron increíbles. Pero nuevamente una mala experiencia en el regreso, nuestro tour terminó a las 4:00pm, nos recogieron a las 4:30pm y llegamos a antigua hasta las 8:00pm pasaditas y no por cuestiones del camino, sino por el chofer. Pasó a dispensar combustible donde duró como 20 minutos, esperamos a unas personas que venían de la frontera como otros 20 minutos, se encontró con un amigo y lo llevó a otro lugar, hicimos una parada de 15 minutos que nuevamente se extendió el tiempo, iba manejando y contestando mensajes en su celular. Siento que deberían valorar cambiar la empresa que les da ese servicio. 

Lake Atitlán Tour from Antigua

Unfortunately, I cannot give this tour a good review. I was incredibly fortunate to see Fuego erupting with visible lava and an amazing sunrise from the summit of Acatenango, but the safety and equipment issues I experienced were unacceptable.

The biggest issue was my **headlamp**. It stopped working after sunset, and although I told the group leader several times and was promised a replacement, I never received one. I had to use my phone flashlight instead.

Even more concerning, the next morning I again asked for a working headlamp before the pre-dawn summit hike and was told to **“just walk between people with one.”** Hiking steep, uneven volcanic terrain in complete darkness without my own light felt extremely unsafe. I was shocked that a guide would knowingly allow this rather than provide a replacement.

There were several other problems as well:

* The zipper on my lunch bag was broken, so my food and containers kept falling out while hiking.
* There was trash around the campfire and kitchen areas.
* My sleeping bag was visibly dirty and had what appeared to be dried blood and/or nasal mucus on it.

Any one of these equipment issues might be understandable, but together they made me question how thoroughly the equipment is being inspected, cleaned, and maintained.

The volcano itself was an incredible experience, but **the headlamp situation is ultimately why I am giving this tour one star.** Equipment can malfunction—that happens. But after repeatedly reporting a safety problem, I should never have been sent on a pre-dawn summit hike without a functioning headlamp.

Una experiencia inolvidable al Volcán de Fuego
​Hicimos la excursión al Volcán de Fuego junto a mi novia y fue, sin dudas, uno de los momentos más increíbles de nuestro viaje.
​Queremos destacar especialmente el trabajo de todo el equipo: tanto los guías como los porteadores estuvieron atentos a cada detalle en todo momento. Nos contaban datos del trayecto, marcaban paradas periódicas para descansar y siempre había un guía al final del grupo asegurándose de que nadie se quedara atrás y que todos estuviéramos bien.
​La organización con la comida y el agua fue de 10 durante toda la caminata. Aunque el trayecto tiene su exigencia, sentir la fuerza del volcán de cerca y contemplar el espectáculo de las explosiones vale cada paso del camino.
​Una aventura espectacular para hacer en pareja, familia, amigos o solo ¡Totalmente recomendado!

A wonderful team, with truly great people and excellent guides. The organization,  the meals , the accomodation were all fantastic! We had great time! Pacaya Trekking is an easy walk but the view is amazing. Good organization and friendly guide.

Diego gave a great tour of the coffee plantation, we took some electric bikes so it was easy. Then a fantastic trip to a demonstration and also a chocolate place. Then a tour around some local villages with a snack and treats. Honestly a great 4 hours and Diego was a great guide, made it fun and enjoyable and loads of knowledge.

We had a great time! It was a though hike, but worth it. The accommodation on top of the mountain was very nice, cosy and pretty comfortable. We had plenty of food. It was nice that there was an opportunity to do additional hikes. 
We liked Marvin a lot, very friendly and kind. 

We would’ve liked some extra equipment at base camp, because one of our headlamps broke and the camelbag was leaking. The schedule was sometimes unclear for us. 

We would recommend CA to our friends!

I was a solo traveler in Antigua, Guatemala. I needed a safe private driver to drive me to Guatemala City for an overnight stay before flying out. I was extremely nervous, but used ChatGPT to find a local travel agency with great reviews. It suggested CA travels the next day I walked to ca travels from my hotel and they didn’t disappoint. The driver was safe, the agent customer service was excellent and I arrived safe as a solo traveler. I tip the driver well as I was thankful to arrive at my destination safe without harm. It can be a little nerve wrecking being an adventurous woman, but when I come back to Antigua I will definitely use CA travels to arrange my itinerary. If you’re a woman and solo traveler don’t hesitate to use them…

We took the tour on 7/8/2026

When we were on bus to the volcano, we were told that climbing Fuego might not be possible, the first we had heard of this. 

After our hike up to base camp not much information was shared and we were told we were unable to climb Fuego. End of discussion. 
The next morning our group all woke up early, at 3am, to climb Acatenago and our tour leader said there was no point in going because it wasn’t clear and we wouldn’t be able to see anything. 
A few people argued this in our group and said they’d like to go anyway. This was quickly dismissed and we were all told we could not go. 
Some people proceeded to sneak out and two guides actually took them to hike, returning in time for breakfast the next morning even after leaving to hoke 40 minutes late. The path and the views from the top they said was crystal clear.
On the descent, we met people who had climbed that very same day who said that they climbed both Fuego and Acatenago. With no problems. I wonder if our tour guide didn’t want to go. Or if some of are quite large group felt unwell and therefore they thought it would take too long? 
I am disappointed and most of all, still angry at how unfair this has been. When I recommend for people to go, it will certainly be with a different travel group. I feel we had been mislead and that I have missed out on an experience that I should have all due to the tour provider.

We had such a great experience hiking Acatenango with CA Travelers! From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organized, which made such a challenging hike feel much more manageable.

The guides were amazing, especially Marvin, who really looked out for us throughout the entire experience. We also really appreciated Lorena, she was so motivational and encouraging, especially during the tougher parts of the hike. You could genuinely tell that the guides cared about everyone in the group and wanted to make sure we were safe, comfortable, and able to enjoy the experience.

The food was good, and the cabin at base camp was surprisingly warm and comfortable, which we were very grateful for after a long day of hiking!

Overall, we felt very well taken care of and would absolutely recommend CA Travelers to anyone considering hiking Acatenango. Seeing Fuego erupt from base camp was an unforgettable experience, and the CA Travelers team made the entire adventure even better. Thank you to Marvin, Lorena, and the whole team! 🌋❤️

A good substitute when our hike to Acatenango was canceled due to El Fuego’s eruption 

From the company I only book the shuttle bus from lake atitlan to chi chi and back, but even that iam very pleasant,bus come one time the driver very polite man, he also drive very careful!!  

It was wonderful! Thank you so much for everything! Great guides, nice food and an unforgettable memory! 

We had a great time! Absolutely recomend this trip. Our guide was wonderful, and while the other groups went to Fuego when it was foggy, our guide told us to wait until early morning and we were the only group able to see the lava that night. So glad for our wonderful guide and this experience.
