Make sure you enjoy the great full breakfast buffet in the hotel this morning as you will no doubt be too excited to eat much lunch, however we will be stopping at a local mall with a great food court just before we go to the studios. 

Have your phones and cameras charged and ready, as our coach will depart the hotel at approximately 9AM this morning for ITV Studios and our private tour of the inside and outside sets of Coronation Street. We will let you know at the Welcome Reception the day before, exactly what time we will be leaving for the studios.

Our dear friend and expert Corrie guide Mark Llewellyn will be joining us at the hotel this morning and coming with us on the coach as he gives us a bit of a narrated tour in Manchester and on the old Granada Studios sets that were used for filming up until 2013 , when ITV moved to the newly built studios at Media City in Salford Quays, where we will be going later. Since 2005, Mark has been giving us an exceptional Corrie locations tour, but has surprised us this year with a walking tour of the old Granada/ITV Studios where he will give us a lot of the history of Coronation Street , and Manchester. Mark is known as Mr. Corrie because of his vast knowledge of the show. His partner for many years was on the show, and Mark got to know many of the actors. Two years ago, Mark was bestowed with a huge honour . He was appointed by King Charles 111 as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant is the King's representative at official functions when the King is unable to be present. We are extremely proud and honoured to have enjoyed this wonderful relationship with Mark for the past twenty years. Although we have been sworn to secrecy until we arrive late next summer, there is another appointment going to be bestowed on our illustrious friend. We haven't yet curtsied to Mark , but please know, he is entitled to the respect befitting his regal appointment. Here is a brief article on Mark and his personal history and current position as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester. It is quite interesting, and imagine, he even mentions his commitment to looking after Canadian Coronation Street fans. How honoured are we ?

After we leave the Old Granada/ITV site, we head back to the coach and make our way to a large shopping complex and food court close to the current ITV Studios, where you will have the opportunity to pick up a quick snack before we head over to ITV Studios. They will be expecting us at a certain hour and we have to be there on time. So please stay with the group, and don't wander off shopping in the mall , because we unfortunately won't be able to wait for you, and would be horrified if you missed the studios visit !

We will most likely be at the studios until about 2:30 -3PM

Make sure you wear good solid footwear ( no high heels or flip flops please ) as it is a working studio and there are a lot of cables and wires and equipment on the floors. We do not recommend the use of walkers and wheelchairs in the inside studios areas, as the quarters are tight and difficult to navigate., and are very busy.

Please remember this is a privileged visit that only a very few fans are able to experience. We are one of only two companies worldwide that ITV gives this permission to, and we ask you to please refrain from creating any loud noise while we are on the sets , and especially during any filming. Respecting the few rules while we are on the sets, will hopefully ensure we can continue to visit in years to come !  

VERY IMPORTANT - While on the sets , please don't wander off from the group, or touch any of the props. For continuity with scenes, items on tables and countertops have been carefully placed and must not be picked up or moved. Even pieces of garbage on the outside streets has a purpose,so although you may be compelled to pick it up to help out , please don't ! It is important that we all keep up with the group and stick to the scheduled time we have. 

This day has brought many past tour members to tears as they got to rub shoulders with personalities who have been part of their lives for many years. 

We never know what actors we will meet, or how many......but ITV never disappoints us , and always has a special treat in store for us ! 

Some years we have had as many as 20 different cast members milling around, chatting, taking photos with our guests, and enjoying being among some of their Canadian fans.  Some actors have even come in on their day off when they know we will be visiting. We have often been invited to watch the actual filming of a scene, and one year became part of a special documentary celebrating ( Our Rita) Barbara Knox`s 50 year anniversary on the show, called Rita and Me. For die hard Coronation Street fans ,it truly is a dream come true....and even if you are not a hard core Corrie fan, you will be swept up in all the excitement ,and thoroughly enjoy the experience !

We have lots of time to wander in and out of all the sets unless they are currently filming in one of them while we are there...the Kabin, Dev`s, The Bistro, Audrey`s, Roys Rolls , Streetcars, Preston`s Petals and the inside set of Tyrone and Fiz`s, Sally and Tim`s, Ken Barlow`s, The Platt`s, Gary and Maria's , and perhaps we will see Carla and Lisa's new flat .... and we will also get to see the Weatherfield Police Station, Costa Coffee ,and Speed Daal , Victoria Gardens and several other newer additions to the outside sets. I wonder where Abi and Carl will be living when we visit ?..and will it be somewhere together ? Will poor Kev have a new love interest ?

It's a full afternoon, and folks just about float onto the coach when it is time to leave.

This really is the epitome for Coronation Street fans, and we are so pleased to be able to share it with you . We also have a chance to purchase a few Corrie souvenirs from the giftshop before we leave, as in spite of being in "Corrie Country", most shops don't carry much memorabilia.

After we leave the studios and head back to the hotel, the rest of your day is free for you to enjoy as you wish.  Perhaps time to do a little souvenir shopping in nearby Arndale Shopping Mall, ( open until 9 PM) or the beautiful pedestrian mall just 5 minutes walk from the hotel with every imaginable shop including the huge discount store PRIMARK. You can see it as you look to the right as you come out of the hotel's front entrance. It makes up part of the Manchester Picadilly area, very close to our hotel. Ask Neville about his favourite little Tea Room very close to the hotel. There is a perfect little traditional British Pub called the WALDORF MANCHESTER on the backstreet behind the hotel at the corner of Robey and Gore Streets that you might like to check out for a pub meal for supper. Or venture just a little further to Picadilly Gardens which is at the far end of the pedestrian street. Lots of restaurants, and food vendors.

If you are up for some vibrant night life, Neville usually walks up to Canal street with a group of interested folks to visit the Gay Village. Full of vibrant nightclubs and colourful sights , its worth an hour or two this evening , and something you won't likely experience at home!

On past tours many folks have gone up to Jennie McAlpine ( Our Fizz) and husband Chris Farr's restaurant on Old Banks St , called Annie's. Unfortunately Jennie and Chris were forced to close Annie's this past July .As of the time of writing our brochure, the restaurant remains closed , and has not been sold to new owners.

The huge Trafford Centre shopping complex is about 6 km out of town and can be accessed by catching a local bus from Picadilly Gardens, a short 3 min walk from the hotel. The shops are open here until 10PM. 

Whatever your choice, make sure to get out and experience some of Manchester today. It's a vibrant city with something for everyone. If you are up for some celebrity spotting , we hear the BIJOU CLUB in the Deansgate area is one of the local hangouts for celebrities and those wanting to be celebrities!

If you want to just stay put and do some quiet people watching closer to home, the hotel bar in the lobby area of our hotel is a great spot to unwind and chat with fellow travellers. Just ensure you get a good sleep ,as we are off to Leeds and another exciting day, first thing in the morning !

We will start our day early this morning as we have another full one !

Our coach will depart right after breakfast and hotel checkout, for the beautiful city of Leeds in the Yorkshire Dales. Once we receive a particular visit time from ITV, we can decide if we will be able to perhaps take the group somewhere in mid morning .

Our leisurely journey this morning is just over an hour, but we will be spending the night here in Leeds to ensure we have lots of time to take in some of the beauty of Leeds and this part of country. Our hotel is the lovely 4 star Hyatt Place Leeds, conveniently located in Sovereign Square , just a 2 minute walk to the Leeds Rail Station , 9 minutes to the Leeds Art Gallery, and a short 10 minutes walk to the famous Kirkgate Market, - the largest indoor market in Europe , and 9 minutes walk to the County Shopping Arcade which is one of 3 popular shopping arcades.

If you venture to the art gallery ( pay what you can admission ) make sure you also check out the TILED HALL CAFE with amazing colourful tiled walls and reasonably priced coffee and cakes.

If history and armouries are of interest , take a walk over to the Royal Armouries ( free admission ) and enjoy many of the different displays, including an armoured elephant !

If you love train stations- the Leeds station is just 3 minutes walk from our hotel, and is the 4th busiest train station in the UK. For a unique experience enter the train station through the new accessible south entrance where you will be walking under the rails , through a kaleidoscope of coloured lights.

For huge Premier League Football enthusiasts, check out the Leeds United website for home games on that day .The schedule only goes as far as May, 2026 at the moment . Tickets on line start around 300 GBP for an evening match.

There are a wealth of things to see and do in Leeds, but the main reason for our visit is to get you onto the working sets of EMMERDALE ! Coronation Street's "sister" ITV production and arch rival for awards .

For those viewers who have never followed Emmerdale, when we learned through our ITV resources , that they had plans to introduce a "crossover" episode in early January 2026, called "CORRIDALE" ,we felt it was an excellent time to introduce our Coronation Street guests to Emmerdale, and introduce some new Emmerdale guests to Coronation Street. We believe it might be just the beginning of more crossover episodes. So we negotiated the first ever visit onto the working sets of Emmerdale through the week while the cast is there working. Just as with Coronation Street now, an independent company runs tours of the sets on the weekend, but folks do not get private access to the working sets while the actors are there working. That is a very special privilege reserved for us. We are beyond thrilled to be able to bring this "first" to you !

Emmerdale Village as it is today was purpose built on the grounds of Harewood Estate in 1997, after the program's former location of Esholt became so popular with visitors that filming scenes became impossible. Harewood Estate is approximately 20 minutes north of central Leeds. We will definitely be visiting the Village , and sets there , and if their filming schedule permits, we will also be visiting the Leeds studio location. It's too far in advance for ITV to be able to confirm as they have no idea yet what their schedules will be . They have always tried their best to ensure a magical visit for us !

Once we finish our Emmerdale visit(s), our coach will return us to our central hotel, and you have the rest of the afternoon and evening to do some exploring on your own.

Corriedale First Look

As viewers get ready to experience one of the most anticipated moments in soap history, ITV have released two images of filming on soap crossover episode Corriedale.

These exclusive photos reveal DS Lisa Swain and Aaron Dingle as the first two iconic characters to be confirmed as starring in the drama-filled hour long special.

Taken on the first of a series of exhilarating night shoots, the photos show actors Vicky Myers and Danny Miller together in a rare behind the scenes moment before action was called.

Lisa Swain’s life on the cobbles has been thrown into chaos these last few weeks after the return from the dead of her police wife ex Becky. As we approach this milestone episode, commissioned to launch ITV’s new Soaps power hour schedule, viewers will be more convinced than ever that there’s a more sinister side to Becky lurking beneath.

Over in the Dales, Danny’s character Aaron has seen off his ex husband, killer John Sugden, but just as things were looking back on track with the love of his life, Robert Sugden, Robert’s secret prison husband, Kev, turned up. It’s safe to say things aren’t going to be straightforward for this couple anytime soon.

What leads Lisa and Aaron to find their lives intertwined on a dark and foreboding night in January? And which other Coronation Street and Emmerdale favourites will feature in the action packed and climactic episode?

While the exact plot is being kept under wraps, what we can confirm is a one off one hour spectacular, featuring explosive scenes, nail biting drama and never before seen interactions between some of the nation’s most loved soap characters.

On what’s due to be must see TV for any soap fan, Vicky said: “To be involved in this unique, bold, innovative, not to mention history-making episode, in Coronation Street’s 65th year, (well, when we are filming it at least), is fantastic. When I read the script and found out how two worlds collide, who is involved and how the characters interact, not to mention the impact the events of the night will have… Wow. It’s going to be unmissable.”

“I couldn’t wait to get started actually. This has been in the pipeline for quite some time and the talented team behind the scenes at Coronation Street and Emmerdale, has worked tirelessly to make this happen. They’re incredible. I’m really looking forward to meeting, and working with, people I haven’t met or worked with before, both in front of and behind the camera. It’s incredibly exciting and the camaraderie is great. It’s going to be epic.“

Talking about filming getting underway, Danny explained: "I am made up that Aaron is in the Corriedale episode. Originally from Manchester, Coronation Street has always been an iconic show in our house just as much as Emmerdale. So to cross them both over is a great idea. The night shoots have been full on with having young kids but a lot of fun and it's been great working with the Corrie team. I can't wait to see how the episode plays out with the separate storylines from both Emmerdale and Corrie. It’s going to be epic and every soap fans dream”

After a full breakfast in our hotel,  our coach will depart early as we continue our journey north to the Highlands of Bonny Scotland.

Our destination today will be the City of Glasgow , where we will spend the next 4 nights in a good centrally located tourist class hotel. The Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre Enoch Square. You couldn't be closer to restaurants, shopping centres and boutique shopping , bars, nightclubs, transit, ATMs and Banks. Several of my favourites are the St. Enoch's Shopping Centre with 116 stores , including Hamley's , the World's Largest Toy Store, and Cosmo - All You Can Eat World Buffet. The shopping centre is just a 3 minute walk from the hotel.

Lots of bars and nightclubs and pubs to choose from as well as restaurants and fast food places. Just Google the location on Google maps and see all the choices within a 2-3 minute walk !

As our journey will be an approximate 4 hours drive , we will plan to stop about half way for an hour for lunch and a stretch. Where we stop will be at our driver Rob's discretion , as he knows where he can get the coach in easily near a nice restaurant.

Keep your eyes peeled on the scenery today , and take notice of the beautiful changing landscape as we pass the Lake District and head through the North Yorkshire Moors. Fields of green start changing to carpets of purple heather, dotted with hundreds of sheep. We may be able to stop for a photo opportunity as we travel along this breathtaking route.

We will most likely arrive in Glasgow City centre around 4PM allowing for our lunch stop and traffic en route.

We will get checked in to our hotel and then you are free to explore the city and enjoy a great dinner in one of one of the plethora of nearby restaurants and pubs. One of the ones that peaked my interest was MacSorley's - A 19th Century Ale House with an extensive menu ( including Guinness and Haggis and sticky toffee pudding)plus live music.Great way to get right into the culture of Bonny Scotland! MacSorley's is also right next to our hotel.

Glasgow is a leading city in Scotland for finance, shopping, industry, culture and fashion, and was commonly referred to as the "second city of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian and Edwardian eras.[8][9][10][11]

In 2020, it had an estimated population as a defined locality of 632,350. • Just a note of interest - Cumbernauld is where the Wardpark Film and Television Studios are located. It's a massive studio with back lots that are the size of city blocks . We tried, but they are not hosting any Sassenachs at the studios. So unless you want to hail a cab between 4 of you and take a drive ( 23 minutes) to Cumbernauld in the hopes of meeting up with Jamie or Claire arriving at the studios , it's best to settle for Jamie's voice narrating the visit to several of the Castles we will be visiting. Doune Castle is the most famous location with a Jamie Fraser audio tour . It was used as Castle Leoch .
  

We enjoy our first full Scottish breakfast in our hotel this morning , and we then meet our expert Scottish guide Alan , who will be making sure he gives us a lot of great information and some great Scottish humour along the way.

We will depart our hotel at 9AM and head towards the village of Linlithgow, and the ruins of Linlithgow Palace (The front of the Palace was used as Wentworth prison). Within a 10 minute drive is the little coastal village of Blackness and it's Castle (Fort William), after our visit it's back on the coach and we will head towards South Queensferry and lunch, at The Railbridge Bistro & Restaurant. After lunch, we will cross the River Forth and head towards the delightful coastal conservation village of Culross with the Bishops Palace and Gardens (Cranesmuir). From here ,we will head towards the city of Stirling , and a visit to Doune Castle (Castle Leoch) before heading back to Glasgow for the evening.

Stirling is known as the "Gateway to the Highlands" because of its strategic position where the lowlands meet the highland. Historically , Stirling was a capital of Scotland and a royal burgh , and it remains a site of great historical importance. with landmarks like Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument.

Stirling is one of Scotland's seven cities and is the smallest city by population.

We will leave our hotel at 9AM this morning for our furthest destination of St. Andrews.

As we drive down the motorway towards the Forth Bridge, keep your eyes peeled for some interesting sights (not least, Scotland's answer to the Pyramids..!!). Once over the River Forth our first stop will be the Birth place of Andrew Carnegie, Dunfermline. Dunfermline Abbey is the burial place of King Robert "The" Bruce, King Malcolm Canmore (who killed Macbeth in real life), Queen (Saint) Margaret, and their son, King David I. The remaining original abbey dates from the 11c. 

The River Forth is a major river in Central Scotland that flows from Ben Lomand to the North Sea via the Firth of Forth estuary. It is about 47 km long , runs through the city of Stirling, and is an historically significant waterway for Scotland's trade and culture. The river's path is divided into a highland section originating from the Trossachs , and a lowland section that widens into the tidal estuary.

The Trossachs is a picturesque area in Scotland known for its stunning landscapes,

 including wooded glens, lochs, and hills, and is part of the Loch Lomond and 

The Trossachs National Park.

The Trossachs, located in the Stirling council area of Scotland, is characterized by its wooded glens, braes, and lochs, lying to the east of Ben Lomond. 

The name "Trossachs" originally referred to a small woodland glen at the center of 

the area but has since come to represent the broader region. The area includes 

notable features such as Loch Katrine and Loch Achray, and is bounded by the hills of Ben A'an and Ben Venue. 

The Trossachs gained fame in the early 19th century, largely due to the works of Sir Walter Scott, particularly his poem "The Lady of the Lake" 

Back on the coach we will now head towards the village of Falkland and its Royal Palace.  Falkland village was the setting for 1940's Inverness in Outlander.

Claire and her husband Frank Randall are on a second honeymoon in the town of Inverness in 1945.

Claire disappears through the standing stone circle known as Craigh na Dun which is located on a hill near Inverness. She had returned there alone to collect a specimen of a blue flower, after witnessing a Beltane (or Samhain in the show) ritual performed by local women. Upon touching the cleft stone she is whisked back in time to 1743. Frank who was waiting for her in the town then begins a frantic search for his missing wife. The stone circle itself is not real, and was created for the show. The stones for the show were made of Styrofoam and and were filmed on a private farm near Kinloch Rannoch . However it was inspired by real Scottish stone circles.

Back on the coach we now head towards St Andrews, famous not only for Golf, and the Old Course in St. Andrews , the oldest golf course in the world, but it's also the home of The University of St. Andrews, Scotland's oldest University, and the third oldest in the English speaking world. The University of St Andrews, is where Catherine , Princess of Wales, and William the Prince of Wales , met and studied together. St Andrews was Scotland's equivalent to Rome in pre-reformation Scotland. It has been named the Scottish University of the year for 2026 . Perhaps two of its alumni will be present when we visit to present an award ?

2025/26 academic fees are 29,093 GBP per year ,( $53,732 CAD) plus 11,954 pounds

( $22,078 CAD) for catered residence fees. Bringing the total to approximately $75,810 CAD per year.

After our panoramic tour, you will have free time here for a couple of hours before we head back to Glasgow for the evening.

If Scotch Whisky tasting is on your bucket list , check out a few places in St Andrew's like Luvians to do a proper tasting. Or stop into a local pub for a wee dram. Perhaps Alan will have a few suggestions up his sleeve !

Neville also found a similar one in Edinburgh called the Islander where you can custom make your own bag in tweed, or tartan and it's also available in Glasgow.

We head back to Glasgow late afternoon to arrive around 6PM .

After breakfast, we set off on our journey to Scotland's Capital City Edinburgh at 9AM. We will meet Alan our Scottish guide en route to Edinburgh, as he describes it ...he is an EDINBURGER. This will be Alan's final day with us, but it will be a spectacular one !

The journey takes around 1 hour . Edinburgh is divided into two historical parts, both of which are UNESCO "World Heritage Sights of Historical Interest". A half day motorcoach tour will include many of the sights of interest in Edinburgh including a visit to Edinburgh castle and just outside the city, Craigmillar Castle (Ardsmuir Prison). 

Along Edinburgh's famous "Royal" Mile various locations have been used in outlander episodes . The Signet Library (a Jamaican mansion belonging to the governor), Tweeddale Court- a peaceful and hidden location (transformed into the scene of a busy and bustling marketplace), Bakehouse Close (the site of Alexander Malcolm’s print shop),

With time permitting , we will see St. Giles Cathedral, Princes Street Gardens and Ross Fountain . The iconic Scott Monument, a Gothic masterpiece that offers panoramic views of Edinburgh’s skyline. It’s located right next to the Gardens and is dedicated to the famous Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott. We stop for photographs outside the Palace of Holyrood House ( Jamie and Claire reside in the palace with Bonnie Prince Charlie) A full traditional Scottish dinner at a very popular venue complete with traditional Scottish music....and perhaps a surprise !

Free time will be built into our day today to to allow you to explore some of this beautiful Medieval city on your own, with some local recommendations for a light lunch before heading in to the Georgian "New" Town in the evening. Prior to our return journey to Glasgow, a spectacular Scottish evening has been planned with a traditional 3 course dinner including a couple of drams, and a special surprise to greet you on arrival.

With bellies full from a delicious Scottish feast , and memories to last a lifetime, we leave the welcoming city of Edinburgh, and bid farewell to our great Scottish guide Alan, “Gu math fada leat.... until the next time !

We will leave Edinburgh at 7:30PM for an approximate 8:45PM arrival at our Glasgow hotel.

Before retiring for the night, please ensure your bags are packed , as we will be departing at 9AM in the morning for our journey back to England.

Make sure you are up early and your bags are all packed and ready to go before you head to breakfast.. Please ensure you have settled any outstanding charges to your room. Please also take note that once we arrive at our Manchester hotel, we won't be seeing Rob again on this tour. It would be a good idea to to put together your tip to give him when we arrive in Manchester. We are sure you will agree that Rob has been an exceptional driver getting us safely all over England and Scotland with a very cheerful and helpful disposition.

We will plan to leave Glasgow at 9AM and start our journey back to Manchester.

Our coach journey will pass through various landscapes including the Scottish Lowlands, potentially skirting the edge of Loch Lomand, and then entering the English countryside as it heads south. The scenery will transition from rolling hills to the rugged , scenic beauty of the Lake District, followed by more rolling hills and farmland before reaching the urban areas of Greater Manchester.

Key highlights include views of Loch Lomand and the Trossachs, crossing into England via the Lake District's southern edge , passing near towns like Lancaster or the edge of the Peak District.

The Peak District is an upland area in central-northern England, at the southern end of the Pennines. Mostly in Derbyshire, it extends into Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. It is subdivided into the Dark Peak, moorland dominated by gritstone, and the White Peak, a limestone area with valleys and gorges. The Dark Peak forms an arc on the north, east and west of the district, and the White Peak covers central and southern areas. The highest point is Kinder Scout (2,087 ft (636 m)). Most of the area is within the Peak District National Park, a protected landscape designated in 1951.[2]

If time permits, we will try and stop for a short break in or near the town of Lockerbie near the Scottish/English border where there are memorials to those killed in the deadliest aviation incident and act of terrorism to take place in the UK.

At three minutes past seven on the evening of Wednesday 21 December 1988 a bomb exploded on board Pan Am Flight 103, a Boeing 747 en route from London to New York. The aircraft broke up almost immediately, and wreckage came to earth over a wide area. The largest parts of the aircraft landed on the Scottish town of Lockerbie. All 243 passengers and 16 crew on board Flight 103 were killed, as were 11 people on the ground in Lockerbie.

The Lockerbie Bombing or the Lockerbie Air Disaster remains the deadliest aviation incident, and the deadliest act of terrorism, ever to take place in the United Kingdom. With 189 Americans killed, it was also the deadliest act of terror against the United States prior to 9/11. Those killed included nationals of 21 different countries in five different continents, and the victims ranged in age from 2 months to 82 years old. Thirty-five of the passengers were students of Syracuse University returning home for Christmas after studying at the university's London campus.

We will stop about mid way back to Manchester for a bit of lunch and a rest stop. Our driver Rob will be suggesting a suitable venue that can accommodate us , and we will let you know.

We will continue the rest of the way into Manchester , arriving at approximately 3PM at our familiar Manchester hotel. The Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre.

After a busy 9 days since arrival, you might feel like having a leisurely day.

The day is yours to decide how you wish to spend it. Maybe some last minute shopping , in the pedestrian mall , or a visit to Neville's lovely little tea room for scones and tea, or how about a Canal and River Cruise and see Manchester United's home ground known as The Theatre of Dreams from the water. The hour long cruise costs the equivalent of $22 CAD and is provided by The Irwell and Mersey Packet Company. The meeting point is under the Millennium Lift bridge

( blue and white)just by the Lowry Theatre at Salford Quays. The closest tram stop is Media City .

However you choose to spend your day, have fun.

Just be certain you are back no later than 6PM to get ready for our Gala Farewell Dinner tonight. It will be the last time you will be seeing Neville on this tour, so it would be a great idea to put a tip together for him for after dinner this evening, as you most likely won't see him in the morning. Neville works tirelessly to make sure that every person on our tours is well looked after and happy.

Please read your chosen insurance brochure in full. We cannot stress enough the importance of protecting yourself with insurance. Don’t risk travelling without it.

Despite meticulous months of planning and confirming every detail on every one of our tours, there are things that sometimes occur over which we have no control. Health and travel advisories, traffic, weather and last minute emergencies and current conditions with our suppliers and venues, sometimes make it necessary to alter or substitute or even cancel the services as outlined in our brochure. Every attempt is always made to inconvenience our guests as little as possible by substituting equal quality services should the need arise ,to the best of our ability. Any such necessary alterations or substitutions or cancellations due to factors beyond our control, does not constitute grounds for cancellation or postponement of a clients’ booking or a refund of any or a portion of tour costs.

Our tours always require at least a minimum of 25 tour participants to operate. Some tours will require 30 or 35 participants and the exact number for each tour will be stated. Please do not book your airfare until we have guaranteed the departure with our minimum numbers. We cannot be held responsible for any cancellation penalties imposed by the airlines or any travel partners or hotels you have booked independently.

Foreign Exchange Fluctuations : VERY IMPORTANT TO READ AND UNDERSTAND

All of our suppliers on this tour are based in the UK, and are paid by us in pounds

( GBP) and for this reason our tours are priced in pounds ( GBP) converted at the most recent rate of exchange ( ROE) at the time our brochure is published , to Canadian Dollars ( CAD).

When pricing our tours for retail sale, we always allow a bit of a margin to compensate for fluctuations in the rate of exchange ( ROE) between GBP and CAD between now and the time final payments are due to suppliers. We purposely do not use a much higher rate of exchange than the current one, in an effort to keep your pricing as low as possible.

We don't normally experience huge swings in the ROE , however on occasion we lose significant funds when the GBP gains strength and our Canadian dollar weakens, as was the case in 2023.

For this reason, to maintain the health of our tour and company, on occasion we have to look at applying surcharges should the ROE fluctuate and cause significant costs that were not accounted for.

We have used a ROE of 1.85 to price this tour in November 2025. . Should the ROE between GBP and CAD increase by .02 % to 1.87 , a  $50 per person surcharge will be added to each person's twin/double booking and will have to be paid with their final payment, or if their final payment has been paid , a charge of $50 will be added to their account, and will need to be paid immediately.

If the ROE continues to increase before all final payments are paid to suppliers in the UK, for each .02% increase in the ROE, a $50 surcharge will be added. Should the ROE continue to rise and reaches 1.95% or a $250CAD per person surcharge, all balances outstanding will be due and payable immediately , and our UK suppliers will be paid in full before any more exchange rate increases are incurred.

All new bookings from the day the ROE reaches 1.95% , will carry a revised price reflecting the original price plus any surcharge amounts due and payable due to the increased ROE.

For single bookings , the same rules and rates will apply.

This is not a surcharge that we wish to levy, but we have no control over world markets and exchange rates. We choose to do this , rather than charge everyone a much higher rate right at the beginning. We hope you understand, and know that surcharges will only be implemented if and when needed to cover unforeseen  costs. Any surcharges unfortunately, do not constitute grounds for cancellation of your tour. All our same conditions and penalties remain the same.

By not allowing the surcharge amount to climb any higher than $250CAD through calling due all outstanding balances and paying our UK suppliers immediately if the exchange rate reaches 1.95%, we feel we are protecting you as best we can.             

Your Deposit Is Non Refundable
A ) However, in the event Coronation Travel had to cancel the tour , due to not having the minimum numbers required to operate the tour, or not being able to supply the key services described in the tour or reasonable substitutions , all deposits and funds paid will be refunded.
B) In the event that due to a political unrest situation, or a war or a health crisis or pandemic occurs, and our tour cannot operate as scheduled, this does not constitute a cancellation by Coronation Travel, and no refund of initial deposits will be made . Non refundable deposits are in place for the original tour dates only, and may not be rolled over to a future tour. Original deposits are paid to suppliers upon the client’s original booking to secure services. Coronation Travel has no control over deposits that have been paid to suppliers to contract services, and will not be held liable for the return of any deposit, unless it is because of a situation as in A) above .

Please purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance to protect yourself should you have to cancel for any medical reason. Please note Trip Cancellation Insurance does not cover you for any pre-existing medical conditions. There are a few travel insurance companies that will cover you for change of mind, but premiums are generally considerably higher. We do not sell travel insurance. Travel agencies and on line insurance companies such as RBC, Blue Cross, AIG and John Ingle offer competitively priced policies. Please read your policy inclusions and limitations and carry your provided wallet card with you at all times.

Your spot on the tour is not confirmed until you have paid your deposit. Please book early. The sooner you book, the sooner we can guarantee the departure.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRAVEL INSURANCE

All tour participants must carry a minimum of Out of the Country Emergency Medical Insurance and provide the Policy Holder and ID Numbers to us by the final payment date . As stated above, we strongly suggest that every participant takes out Trip Cancellation Insurance to protect you in case of an unexpected medical emergency. Please note that if cancellation is due to an insurable reason, you can claim both the non -refundable deposit amount plus any cancellation penalties incurred for all components of your trip through your insurance provider. 

This is a land only tour which starts and ends at our central hotel. Please arrange to arrive at the hotel by 3 PM on DAY 1, and depart after breakfast on the final day.

Contractual Arrangements
All services described herein are organized by Coronation Travel, in collaboration with very respected and established travel partners such as hotels, coach companies , guides and attractions.

We are guests of ITV during our private visit to the sets of Coronation Street in Manchester, and Emmerdale in Leeds, and as such must adhere strictly to all their rules and regulations while we are on their working premises.

As it is a working set, guests must be cognizant of cables, monitors, moveable sets and structures, and must take care at all times when on the sets. ITV, its staff, producers, technicians, actors or any person associated with ITV or Coronation Travel or contracted by either to perform a service, shall not be held liable for any bodily injury or harm to any person visiting as a guest on ITV’s studio filming locations and working sets, or visiting any attraction or venue on any of our tour days. . Please ensure solid footwear is worn during the visit, and refrain from any loud, abusive or excessive noise which could interfere with filming. Please ensure you stay with the group at all times while on the sets, and follow their instructions, including not touching any of the props on tables, counters , couches or chairs and keeping up with the group. We do not recommend that wheelchairs or walkers be used inside the studios due to the number of cables and wires and small openings for traffic. Clients are welcome to use a cane to help them with any stability issues. Notice is hereby given that all arrangements made on behalf of customers are made by the organizers on the sole condition that the organizers shall not be held responsible for or have any liability whatsoever for any injury, death, accident, delay, loss, harm or irregularity which may be occasioned through acts of the organizers or any company and/or persons engaged in carrying out arrangements and services described herein or otherwise in connection herewith. The information contained in this brochure is correct to the best of the organizer’s knowledge, but the organizer accepts no liability for any inaccuracies therein, the organizers reserve the right to alter any itinerary or service at any time without penalty to the organizers. Air Carrier Responsibility

The passenger contract in use by any airlines concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser. Airline schedules are subject to change. No airfares are included with this tour unless it is specifically stated in the itinerary that a flight from point A to Point B will be included.
Any airfare arrangements over and above itinerary inclusions, will be individual requests for assistance and will carry a $100 plus HST booking fee. Coronation Travel will not be liable for any changes to flights or fares and surcharges imposed by the air carrier for any flight .

By registering for a Coronation Travel Tour and paying the required deposit for the tour , I am agreeing that I have read and fully understand all the Terms and Conditions as stated above, including the foreign exchange surcharges that may end up being required. This deposit acknowledgement of the Terms and Conditions constitutes a legal and binding agreement.

Should I tip my Tour Host/Manager , Driver and individual step on guide ? 

In a nut shell , the answer is yes , if you feel they have done a great job 

How much ?

Tipping is always a personal decision, and usually falls into a range that you select based on the level of service you received 

Here are a few guidelines for tipping in the UK. What you ultimately decide to do is your decision, but these guides have been put in place based on industry standards. to assist you. No one wants to overpay someone, but we don't want to feel like cheapskates either. If the service was mediocre , just tip the bare minimum. If you know the person worked hard to make your trip as enjoyable and stress free as possible, then yes, open up your wallet and show the person just what a great job he/she did. Tips can be paid in either your own currency or the currency of the country you are in .

Coach Driver - A friendly and helpful driver who gets you safely to and from your destination ,offers helpful information ,  always helps people on and off the coach and is always prompt should receive a tip of £3-£5 per person per day of driving depending on the level of service. For this tour our driver Rob will be with us for 7 full days . Therefore a rule of thumb for great service would be to tip £5 per per person ( not per room or couple) for 7 days ...so a total of £35 pounds per person or $65 CAD per person total.

Tour Host/Manager - Your Tour Host or Manager not only looks after you while you are on the coach, but every moment you are on the tour. He or she is the glue that keeps a tour humming along and is always working behind the scenes to fix or avoid any snags that could quickly de-rail the tour. Days are very long for a Tour Host/Manager who doesn't sleep or relax until every one on the coach is safely tucked into bed and everything is all taken care of for the next day. A great Tour Host/Manager is worth his/her weight in gold . Please remember that Neville is not an owner or employee of Coronation Travel. His sole responsibility with our tours is to ensure all our clients are safe and happy and well looked after . He does this job with enthusiasm and kindness, and always with a big smile and a caring word. Neville's only payment for all the time he devotes to each and every client on our tours is through your appreciation with your tips.

A rule of thumb for tipping your Tour Host/Manager is £5-£7 per person ( not per room or per couple) per day . Our Tour Host/ Manager Neville will be looking after each person for 9 days. The minimum per person ( not per room or couple) for this tour should be £45, ( $85 CAD) with the maximum being £63 ( $120.00 CAD)  for outstanding service. 

For experienced Blue Badge step on Guides like Alan , who are with us for 3 full days , in Scotland , and will be travelling by train each day to join our coach, a minimum of £5 per person per day ( $10 CAD) is recommended. The recommended time to hand Alan his tip would be on the coach on the last day in Edinburgh , or at supper that evening., as that will be the last opportunity. Total £15 per person (not per room or per couple)

for the 3 days ( $30 CAD)

For step on Guides like Mark our Corrie Expert guides who do a 1-2 hr walking tour £1-£2 per person. ( $2 - $4)  For smaller groups of under 10 people the higher £2 ( $4) per person is recommended, while for larger groups, the £1 ($2)  per person is adequate. 

So as an example, for this tour you should plan to set aside a minimum of £72 -£105Max ( $135 CADMin -$195 CAD Max)to divide up between Tour Host/Manager , Coach Driver, 1 step on guide with us for 3 full days ( Alan) and 1 step on guide with us for 4 hours ( Mark) The largest portion should go to your Tour Host/Manager , with the coach driver receiving the next largest amount, the 3 day tour guide next and finally the 4 hour guide .

These are just guidelines , and you can certainly choose what you wish to tip. But please do remember, in most cases these folks do work very hard to ensure your vacation is as worry free as possible.

What Clothes Should I Pack 

Pack whatever clothes you would be wearing at home in late August/early September. A light rain jacket and comfortable walking shoes - don't bring brand new shoes - make sure they are well broken in ! A light weight sweater is always good to have on overnight flights as the cabin can get cool. 

Bring one or two dressier outfits for any special dinners and in case you want to go to a special concert or theatre in your free time. 

Leave your expensive jewelry at home, just in case.  Just remember, this is your hard earned vacation, and you want to be comfortable . 

Travel Tips 

It's always a good idea to take a photo copy of the first two pages of your passport, just in case you ever lose it or it gets stolen. It is much easier to get a replacement if you have this information with you. Keep it somewhere else from where you keep your passport. 

Bring a spare pair of eyeglasses with you, just in case your current ones get lost, broken or stolen. 

It's always a good idea to bring an extra prescription for any medication you need to take. We have had cases where people have left medication in the bathroom in a previous hotel room .

Speaking of medication , please do list any medication you need to take and any medication you cannot take , or allergies , on your registration form in the appropriate section. We are not being nosey, we are just making sure that if there was any situation whereby you needed medical assistance and couldn't speak for yourself, our Tour Host /Manager would have access to this information to pass along to medical authorities. 

Please do bring along any non prescription meds you are accustomed to taking , such as Tylenol . But if you do run out and need to get over the counter meds, please remember that In the UK, " Night Nurse" is like our Tylenol PM for sleep , and Paracetamol is like the Tylenol we take for pain.

Here are a great couple of tips from Neville who was actually mugged in Quito and was so thankful he had done this. 

When you check in to the hotel, take one of the business cards with the hotel address on it and put it together with a £20 note in your shoe. That way you will always have the hotel address and phone number ,and a bit of cash to get there in case you do get your purse or wallet and phone stolen.

VERY IMPORTANT please note , the electrical current is different in the UK.

Be sure to pack the appropriate travel plug adapter that fits the local sockets, as well as a voltage converter. The UK has it's own plug and socket system TYPE G, which is unlike the rest of Continental Europe. As opposed to our 120V 60 Hz in Canada, the electricity in the UK is 230V 5hz....so even if you get the correct plug adapter , if you don't also get the converter that steps down the voltage, you will fry your phone or flat iron !  You can get travel plug adaptors with voltage converters at places like Best Buy or Amazon. Don't wait until you get to the UK to buy one , as they will be reverse from the ones sold here, and will be virtually useless with your appliances.

A small telescoping umbrella is always a good thing to have, as well as a small backpack or cross body bag to keep your valuables right in front of you.

Please do not travel without travel insurance. Trip cancellation is optional but highly recommended, but proof of out of the country emergency medical insurance is mandatory for this trip.

Please don't wander off by yourself at any time without letting someone know where you are going and what time you will be back . 

Before travelling, check with your cell phone provider to see how much  an international plan is  so you can call home if need be or your family can reach you. Unfortunately most plans are pretty expensive. 

If your phone is unlocked ( make sure it is before you go ) you can purchase a sim card in the UK and just swap your existing sim card with that one. Just make sure you bring along an envelope to store the tiny sim card in until you get home , and don't lose it ! 

Here is an article on the newest thing called  E Sim Cards....I've never tried it but it looks pretty easy to set it up. No more having to swap Sim cards .

One of the cheapest and easiest ways to keep in touch with people while you are away is through messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and Whats App. As long as you have a wifi connection you can talk to people anywhere , but you won't be able to use your Canadian phone plan to make a phone call without incurring big charges. The last thing you want to do is make a call from your hotel room to the family back home. Long distance and International long distance is very expensive from hotel rooms. 

if you happen to have an older phone that still works, why not think about bringing that and just getting a UK sim card to pop in. That way if you lose your iPhone 7 it won't be nearly as much of a disaster as if you lose your new iPhone 14.

If you have any older pound sterling notes , most places in the UK will no longer accept them. But do bring them with you, and go to a Post Office right away where they will exchange them for new notes. They will exchange up to £300 at a time.

The best post office to head to, is the Manchester Spring Gardens #26 one, just up one of the side streets in the pedestrian shopping mall on Market Street  and around the corner from a Barclays Bank.  About an 8 minute walk from the hotel. 

Coach Etiquette 

Some seats on a coach are considered by some to have better views and vantage points for sightseeing. In order to give everyone a fair chance to experience the views from each angle, we will be rotating seats daily . We will ask folks to all move back 3 rows and across the aisle from where they sat the day before. Those who were seated in the last 3 rows the day before will move up to the front, and so on. 

Once in your seat for the day, we would ask that you remain in that seat for the entire day for sanitary reasons. The surfaces of the coach will be all wiped down after the end of each day, but not throughout the day. Every little bit helps, and we thank you for understanding. 

Please do stick with the group and don't wander off to look at something and get left behind. It's a scary feeling being in a place you don't know and getting separated . Always keep your eye on the group if you stop for a moment . Please let someone know if you need to make a quick dash to a washroom , and the group will wait for you before moving on. 

We have all been on those tours where the same two or three people are always the ones missing when the Tour Manager does the headcount before leaving an area. Please don't be one of those people that everyone else is constantly having to wait for. Be courteous by being on time. Keeping up and being on time for departures will help us all have an enjoyable tour. Sometimes we are on a fairly tight schedule, and each 5 or 10 minutes we have to wait for stragglers could mean we might have to miss a planned stop entirely. When departing the coach for a stop, you will be told how long we will be stopping for, and what time to be back at the coach, and where the coach will be parked. Please do listen to your Tour Host/Manager's instructions , and always keep track of the time.   

Luggage 

Pack light ...you will be dragging your luggage through the airports by yourself. Leave room for the treasures you want to bring home. Most airlines these days do not give you any free checked bags , and charge crazy amounts . Make sure you check with your airline regarding checked luggage allowances and fees well in advance . 

Rolling clothes sometimes keeps them from wrinkling as much and keeping the number of pairs of shoes you bring to a minimum can cut down on luggage weight substantially....as can swapping out full size bottles of shampoo and conditioner for travel sizes, or just purchase when you get there and throw away what you don't use. If you do pack any liquids in your suitcase, make sure they are in sealed plastic bags- like freezer bags. 

If you are planning to purchase liquor to bring back, its always a good idea to have a few extra large plastic bags on hand to use to put liquor in, and then use your clothes to wrap around the bottle to shield it from bumps. 

A low cost luggage scale is worth its weight in gold, as are the new tracking devices which you place inside your luggage so you always know where it is , even when the airlines don't ! Both these items can be purchased on Amazon very inexpensively.

Don't pack your passport or any medications you need in your checked baggage. Especially in this day and age when luggage horror stories have been happening the world over. Make sure you pack your medication, any valuables, your passport, cash and credit cards, a light sweater or jacket and a full change of clothing in your carry on bag , and keep it with you at all times.

As a courtesy, we ask that if you have an issue with something like your TV is not working in your room or there is a burnt out bulb , please notify the front desk and not your Tour Host/Manager. If however you have notified the front desk several times ,and nothing has been done , we ask that you let your Tour Host/Manager know the next morning, so that it can be dealt with.  

Tour Hosts/Managers work very hard for very long days , and often just need some down time after dinner is finished. and during free time. 

Unless it is an emergency that really cannot wait until breakfast the next morning, please let your Tour Host have some rest so that he/she will be bright eyed and ready to tackle anything the next morning ! Thank you for respecting this request.    

How Much Money Do I Need to Bring ?

Only carry small amounts of cash with you. Order a few pounds sterling to have with you when you first land in Britain , enough to give tips and maybe buy a coffee , but for the rest you will most likely be using your credit card. With ATM machines everywhere these days, you can withdraw what you need for just a day or two, and you can have it in local currency without having to go to a bank or Currency Exchange kiosk in the airport where exchange rates are not always the most favourable.

Here are a great couple of tips from Neville who was actually mugged in Quito and was so thankful he had done this. 

When you check in to the hotel, take one of the business cards with the hotel address on it and put it together with a £20 note in your shoe. That way you will always have the hotel address and a bit of cash to get there in case you do get your purse or wallet and phone stolen.

Returning Back to Canada 

Remember after you have been out of the country for 7 days, you are allowed to bring home the equivalent of $800 CAD when you return to Canada. In that $800 total you can have 1.5L of wine, or 1.14 L of spirits, or 8.5L of beer.  

You can also bring 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars , or 200 grams of tobacco. The total of all your items including liquor and tobacco can not exceed $800. 

You cannot bring fresh produce or any meat products back to Canada. 

If you purchase something fragile as a gift for someone , consider asking the store to ship it to your residence as a gift.  

While you are outside Canada, you can send gifts free of duty and taxes to friends at home in Canada under certain conditions.  

Gifts you send from outside Canada do not count as part of your personal exemption, but gifts you bring back in your personal baggage do and are treated like any other purchases. 

Hopefully some of these little travelling tips and tidbits will be helpful.    

As of the date of publishing this brochure, there  are no mandatory proof of vaccination legislations in either Canada or the United Kingdom.

While still recommending social distancing and facial masks, neither Canada or the UK have made this mandatory at this time. 

It is up to individual businesses whether or not they require that a face mask be worn in their establishment . We recommend that you bring a face mask with you just in case.

Coronation Travel will at all times follow the restrictions and mandatory legislations imposed by both Canada and Britain for the duration of this trip. 

Unless mandated or legislated, Coronation Travel will not be requiring proof of vaccinations for Covid 19 or any other vaccinations , nor mandating that facial masks be worn on coaches or in any group settings or gatherings during the dates of this tour.

We support the use of facial masks for any individual tour participants, however will not make them a requirement, unless legislation changes.

We , along with our coach company partners will do our utmost to protect the health of our tour participants, by ensuring regular sanitization of surfaces and opening of windows whenever possible to encourage clean air exchange.

To protect the health and well being of everyone on this tour, we request that all passengers refrain from boarding the coach or participating in group activities if they are feeling unwell. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds for any portion of the tour missed due to sickness, or any other reason. We strongly suggest that everyone look into an out of the country emergency medical insurance policy that has coverage for illness due to virus' such as Covid-19.  

Should any restrictions change before the departure of this tour, we will notify all participants .

As we continue to live and operate alongside COVID-19, the virus continues to create a set of challenges that are unfortunately outside of our control. We continue to review the travel restrictions imposed by government advisories worldwide on a regular basis.

Should your tour be impacted and unable to operate . we will contact you at the email address you provided with your tour registration as soon as possible after we receive notification. We will work diligently to recover and return to you the funds you have paid for your tour over and above the initial deposit, which shall remain non-refundable. 

Again, we strongly advise all participants to take out travel insurance that will cover cancellation for any reason, including the non-refundable deposit. 

Please rest assured that our hygiene protocols on this trip meet the requirements put forth by world health and local authorities, including the World Health Organization (WHO).

We ask that you please take personal responsibility for your wellbeing. This begins with packing any personal protective equipment and sanitizers that you require due to your own health or age. Please adopt physical distancing and hygiene practices throughout your pre-trip travel arrangements and follow all health instructions whether physical signage, or requests from our staff, once you are travelling with us.

United Kingdom Health Advisories
