About this trip

Rejuvenate with Charlotte Zeitel and Amber McBride to Lake Atitlan, a magical crater lake located in the heart of Guatemala. Together we'll remember how to face our fears through movement, self-inquiry and adventure. You'll leave with a deeper sense of Self along with the courage to follow your aspirations. Whatever you're yearning for in your life, it can be YOURS!

Our trip begins with an overnight stay in the colonial city of Antigua, where the group will gather. You'll have time to explore the unique architecture, boutiques, and bars and restaurants of Antigua. On day 2, we will make our way to Lomas de Tzununa, a lakefront hotel with a relaxing vibe, and stunning views of Lake Atitlan.

Our days will include daily and always optional yoga classes with Char and Amber, locally sourced meals, two included cultural and adventure driven excursions, and plenty of time to disconnect and recharge amongst the stunning hillside grounds of Lomas de Tzununa and Lake Atitlan. Our retreat center features an on-site pool, temazcal sauna, and restaurant / lounge area, all available for you to enjoy!

Love to stay busy? Your week will include opportunities for hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding, zip lining, and cooking & weaving classes. Boat rides are readily available to visit neighboring villages and experience local food, markets, and some of the best textile and arts shopping in Central America.

Come experience Guatemala with an amazing community of like-minded people!

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve your space on this retreat. Your trip balance is due 120 days out from the retreat start date. If you would like to set up a payment plan for your trip balance at no additional cost, please email info@solseedretreats.com.

I had a wonderful time. Great food, good company, and many thanks to Solseed for planning the excursions and to 3BY for reviving my love for Yoga. My first time doing a retreat far exceeded my expectations. See you On the trails next time! 🧘‍♀️⛰🥾

My week to the Azores overall was terrific. I do have some thoughts: I would've liked only one free day to do what we wanted on our own versus two. The retreat was really only four full days and I felt overwhelmed to have to make decisions about where to go and what to do with so few days to see the island as it was. I expected it to be done for me, having signed up to go to a place I knew very little about. One day gives us an opportunity to lay low, or explore, or whatever, but two was one too many. Also, I think a short excursion on the arrival day would've been nice, since we arrived so early. Tea plantation? Trip into Ribeira Grande to walk around, find grocery/bank/shops and get essentials for the stay? I felt it was sort of wasted time and it would've been a great opportunity to get our bearings. Not sure Tina is an asset to SolSeed. She is quirky, which in itself isn't bad, but she made bizarre comments about things that I felt were not appropriate in her position. While at the restaurant that first night out at her friend's place she told us all "everyone told me not to go here but this woman is so wonderful", ouch. Also, couldn't she have called before we arrived to help her friend get ahead on the cooking? That was a long dinner. Too long, and I felt we were a burden on that poor woman, as much as she wanted our business. Seems like it was personal to Tina, not necessarily in our best interest, though. She also made such a big fuss about eating fish whole, and animal bones, and her distaste for any bones in any of her food, and then at the farm to table restaurant (which was by far the best evening!) she proceeded to talk about her sex life in more detail than proper- yikes! She tried to discourage us from going to the Terra Nostra gardens on our free day because she said we would want hours in the hot springs and we wouldn't have enough time, which was just wrong as we went anyway and had a ball. I told her I was staying through the weekend, and how do I get to Pico? Instead of encouraging me she flat out told me the weather was too iffy and travel between the islands was difficult. Perhaps that's true during the winter months but the next few days were just fine and I wished I had just gone. I'm sure there are plenty of good things about Tina but I just never felt helped by her. Sorry, but this is my honest feedback about the trip. Because I booked myself extra time on the island after the retreat ended I was able to go to Lagoa do Congro (amazing) and Nordeste. I highly recommend scheduling these places as an additional day trip for the retreat since they really were spectacular. I would've been sad not to see those two had I heard later on how beautiful they are. I loved the hotel where we stayed in Santa Barbara, and the yoga Steph and Katie taught was perfect. Along with Paolu and Gary and all the drivers the day trips and hikes were fabulous, at Furnas and Sete Cidades, with all the information Paolu had to give. Maria's lunches were spot-on delicious. Hang onto to her, she's a huge asset! Both Kristen and Ian are very enthusiastic and I enjoyed their company when they could join us. All in all this retreat got me to one of my bucket list places, and it really was a marvelous trip. I met fun people and came home rested and feeling strong. More hiking!!! Regards, Jules Grant

This trip was an A+++. The hotel was beautiful, in a great location - can walk to town or beach, or take a quick cab ride. The staff was professional, considerate, friendly. Everything was so luxurious. The food at the hotel was superb. The spa and the grounds - beautiful, clean, peaceful. This review probably does not seem real - but it is. It was a magical trip. The planned excursions were very well organized. The drivers and guides - wonderful, friendly, helpful, eager to share their knowledge. And the drivers were so skilled! Driving in the Azores is no joke! The dinners out were amazing. You all really did a great job making us feel pampered, showing us the amazing sights and tastes of the Azores. Oh- and the picnics from Maria. So Wonderful! We were just sad we could not have a cooking lesson at her house. Finally - Tina is a gem. She made it all run smoothly and it was a joy to get to know her.

This twice rescheduled trip from 2020 did not disappoint! The Azores are a very special place- spectacular views, great food and a great group of people. We had dinner together every night which I think really helped people to to know each other. I think the balance of activities and off-time was just right. We could explore in own and everyone got to do just what they wanted. Stephanie and Katie kept our practices fun and challenging! They have always been two of my favorite teachers so I was looking forward to get to know them better. Two super special women! It was so great to meet Kristin and Ian after two years! I would go on another one of their trips without hesitation! Tina kept everyone informed and took us to some really special places! I will miss Tina Time! Thank you!!! Maggie D-D

My first yoga retreat, and I can't imagine ever topping this experience. I knew the yoga practice would be great under Petra's leadership — as always, she skillfully planned classes for the range of experience of participants, and brought so many extra dimensions: a theme that carried through the whole week and related to the physical setting, a peaceful meditation before the morning practice, etc. I didn't know what to expect from the accommodations at Santa Barbara Eco-Beach resort, which were beautiful, comfortable, and quiet, surrounded by well-designed, low-key coastal landscaping. Felt like you were in nature yet pampered. Fabulous kitchen, could go on and on about the food. Nice staff (some a little short on English, and planning for massage appointments could have been better). Solseed personnel were always friendly and efficient, made sure we knew all Covid testing protocols. Our local rep unfortunately had to isolate for much of the week, but she was always there to deal with questions. The people contracted to lead hikes and cater picnics were terrific. And São Miguel island itself was a revelation: I was happy to experience and learn about this gorgeous and fascinating place; also happy to be there in a quiet season. Tourism pressure will no doubt grow but I hope they can deal with it and not lose the character of the place.
