About this trip

Resting on the untouched sands of Mal Pais beach, this beautiful 7000-square foot architectural gem, has sweeping ocean views at every turn. This is the ultimate yoga sanctuary with direct private access to the ocean, surrounded by tropical gardens and indigenous flowers. One of the area’s secret natural wonders sits just steps from the house a tide-pool the size of a hot tub that warms up in the glow of Santa Teresa’s sun. Watch the sunset from this natural pool, as the waves crash behind you. Every morning you can lounge pool side with your brekkie and journal reflecting on your yoga flow in the natural outdoor bungalow. This space epitomizes the State of Sun brand and mission - we can’t wait for you to join us!

The Experience

You will be guided by a carefully curated team, leading you through a variety of yoga classes, workshops in nutrition and health, and connecting you with the local Costa Rican community. All of your meals will be catered to the villa, providing you with fresh, local ingredients to nourish your mind, body, and soul.  You will have opportunity to relax and reflect with onsite massages and perfect journaling nooks. To show our gratitude, we will be working with different non-profits to support the natural ecosystem of Costa Rica. Additional activities for our more active guests, like surfing, are available, upon request. For all retreat details, visit stateofsunyoga.com or @stateofsunyoga on instagram.

I am a certified 500 hour yoga teacher and integrative health coach, based in sunny San Diego, California. Originally from Durban, South Africa and growing up in Florida, I have had the pleasure of living in some of sunniest places our world has to offer. Yoga has been instrumental in my life since beginning my practice in 2012 as a form of recovery as a multi-sport athlete. Since then is has blossomed into an essential part of my lifestyle - cultivating body awareness and a healthy state of mind.
