About this trip

Join Joan up in beautiful Topanga Canyon and celebrate  the longest day of the year,The Summer Solstice!

Relax and unwind in a peaceful remote setting up in the mountains of California with a like minded yoga community. This stellar retreat center offers mountainous views, a lap pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and even a cold plunge! Take long walks in nature, hike in the mountains, and enjoy a massage in between yoga practices.

Deepen your yoga practice and connect deep within yourself.  Each practice will be catered to a specific theme allowing you to take your time and explore the postures on a deeper level.  We will end the day with a quieting inward practice honoring the longest day of the year, where the light is the most abundant.

Connect to nature and others on the same inspiring path of health and well being. There are also many places for quiet-time like the sun patios or cozy up to the large living room fireplace in the 1920’s Spanish Mission-style house. If you feel like an adventure, there are gorgeous hiking trails nearby and the Pacific Ocean is only 20 minutes away. Our private chef for the weekend will be on-site creating the most delicious vegetarian meals that will nourish you from the inside out!

I had a great time with Joan and crew. It was a short two night, three day retreat, but we’ll worth the trip out to Topanga.

Joan's retreat was a perfect way for me to get back in touch with my practice, the yoga community, and nature. Her classes were invigorating and thoughtfully-sequenced. The retreat center was tucked away in the mountains, and I truly was able to disconnect from everyday stress while there. The views were vast and the vegetarian food was some of the best I've ever had. The other yoga students were all truly kind, generous people. After dinner on the last night, the students hung out on the comfy sofa facing the huge outdoor fireplace--many old friendships were reinforced and new ones were made. I was a commuter student, and stayed about a 15-minute drive away from the center. The drive to and fro was pretty. Highly recommend!

In March 2024, I graduated from the 200hrs YTT with the School of Yoga. The YTT consisted of a few online practices and lectures with Joan, in preparation of and before a two-week full-time yoga retreat in Rajasthan, India. Overall, it was an enriching and transformative experience: thanks to this YTT, I re-discovered Yoga, and I felt in love for it and for life. I grew as a yogi and as a person. The 200-hrs YTT — with all its components — gives the fundamental knowledge on Yoga practice and philosophy. It is well balanced between practice and theory/lecture. Intellectually, the YTT is interesting and fascinating. And it is fun! Joan is a knowledgeable and inspiring teacher. She is passionate and dedicated to teaching. Undoubtedly, Joan also has a talent for transferring knowledge: Her explanations are clear and make sense, her talks are capturing and transformative.. The 2-week retreat in India is enriching also for the life and human experience. Accommodation (site, staff and food) is impeccable. I naturally (with no difficulty) merged with the life-style at the retreat. We shared amazing time together with the participants: We were all present. Truthful and loving. Open and curious. I grew as a person. I learned to better listen to and being truthful to myself. Today, I am using all these learnings in my daily life at home….
