      About this trip

The deep waters off Dominica are home to nearly 200 resident sperm whales. These whales live in Dominica year round, in the warm, crystal-clear waters. Our trips take a maximum of six clients, offering more intimate experiences with these whales. We consider Dominica the absolute best place in the world to see sperm whales in the water.

This trip is done on snorkel. Freediving is permitted when whales are sleeping.

Minimum bookings is 4 pax for the trip to run.  3 people are permitted to swim with the whales at one time.

Nadia is one of the most caring tour leaders I've had the pleasure of traveling with. She went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful trip. It has been a dream of mine to swim with orcas, and she made that dream come true. We were able to swim with them on two of the six days of our tour. We also had amazing encounters with whale sharks, mobula rays, and much more! Those animals particularly stood out to me. I was on the trip where another guest, Charlotte, claimed she injured herself. However, she was out swimming with us every single day, so I find it curious that she mentioned that in her review. I'll leave that note here for context. Our orca swimming days were incredible. One day, we spent over five hours observing them as they ate turtles. It was just amazing to witness. When we jumped in the water, we stayed with them for what felt like over ten minutes each time. It was fantastic. On the last day, we saw the orcas again and had them to ourselves for over an hour. They were a bit more shy, but we still had great interactions. I can't wait to come back next year with my partner!

We had the most fantastic time swimming with sperm whales! We were able to swim with them while they were sleeping and on one special day had a very interactive female! It was amazing!!! I signed up for next year! I can't wait to go back! The sperm whales are very special! Fort Young was very nice, the new rooms we stayed in were perfect and had a great view of the ocean. The food was great and I loved that I could walk to town in about 30 seconds!

Surpassed my every expectation! I was blown away by the wildlife, the accommodations, and the professionalism of the crew. The house was like a dream. The boat picks you up from the property and whisks you out each morning to find rays, orcas, blue whales, dolphins, whale sharks, sea lions and more. I experienced multiple once in a lifetime wildlife encounters and was left truly humbled by everything I experienced. The boat was very comfortable and the whole experience was heightened by keeping the number of guests to only 4. Can I give more than 5 stars???

Astonishing, wonderful and humbling to be in the presence of such magnificent creatures. Every day was something new. We saw a blue whale come to the surface repeatedly, spent about an hour watching a humpback breach the surface, played with seals, snorkeled coral reefs, watched hundreds of mobula rays swimming in swirling patterns, and the experience of snorkeling with orcas was beyond words. All of the marine life seemed either indifferent or curious to our presence; they did not react stressed in any way. The home we stayed in was amazingly beautiful and luxurious and secure. All of this was made possible of course by Nadia who was an outstanding hostess as well as a keen eye for spotting ocean creatures. The captain, Armando (born and raised in La Venta, a charming town) knew where to go like the back of his hand. His English is great and he was very helpful with everything. We were even treated to parrotfish ceviche and tuna sashimi which he spearfished. We timed him under the water once for 2 mins and 22 seconds! In addition to the adjectives I used at the beginning of this review, it was a whole lot of fun; lots of laughter and good times. The locals were very friendly too. It was tough saying goodbye...

This was a trip of a lifetime! Swimming with ORCA’S, seeing a magnificent blue whale was such a rare treasure. swimming with thousands of Mobula Rays was ethereal and dreamy, and seeing a 70 foot whale shark was breathtaking! The sea lions & dolphin were also sweet and playful. The house we stayed in was a gorgeous mansion right on the beach. This trip was phenomenal! So grateful! Thank you so much!
