I was initially a bit nervous having never done white water rafting before. Our guide Papucha was just fantastic. Very reassuring and confident. And Nic in the kayak was a genius, casually drifting backwards through the rapids to film and photograph us all the way.
Turned out to be the best thing I’ve done in ages, and the value for money was incredible. Transfers, equipment, an hour and a half on the river, lunch plus photos and videos all for $30US. Brilliant fun, various levels of experience in the boat but everyone felt the same about the trip. Can’t fault it. Do this, you won’t regret it!
My friend and I did the Cashaurco canyoning tour in mid-November and it was truly an experience I will never forget. It rained a lot the night before, which led to rising water levels and added a lot of excitement. Andreas, Alberto and Gerard were amazing guides. They went and checked the water levels before we started, to ensure it was safe for us to proceed. They were very positive and upbeat, and attentive to everyone's fitness and skill levels, ensuring everyone's safety. If you like adventure, I highly recommend taking this tour.
Malnourished and dead horses: if you feel any empathy towards horses, don't go horsebackriding here! The horses were very dirty and unhealthy. I got there in the morning and they were all still wearing their tack from the day before, which means it never gets taken off. The horses were also very skinny. During my trip the horses had to gallop full speed on the hills and even on the streets passing cars. When we got out of town, there was a dead horse laying on the street. It looked like the horse I was riding and I was honestly doubting whether my horse would make the end of the trip or fall over from exhaustion as well.. The horses are definitely not taken care of properly. The route is not a circle, you ride up the mountain and then go the same way back. The horses were panting the whole way.
We had such an amazing time on the bike tour! Robert was the best guide!!!! He was so friendly and knowledgeable. He taught us so much about the local plants, fruit, nature, food, water and power systems, culture, and more! We made a stop at a candy shop/factory and got to see the creation process behind the scenes and tried a free sample. All of the waterfalls were stunning, especially Pailon del Diablo at the end. It was a bit of a hike to the final waterfall with some crawl spaces but beyond worth it. The tarabita ride during the tour was awesome as well. The bike ride itself was a great workout but not too strenuous and very enjoyable. I felt safe following Robert, even on the main roads. The lunch included at the end was great. I cannot say enough great things about this tour and our guide!!
