This relaxing Coasteering tour, starts in a developed resort area. Soon into the trek though, you will be surrounded by undeveloped coastline, where you will feel at one with the environment. Along the way there are some cliff faces and river mouths which offer a pleasant contrast in topography. You can also indulge in a river bath at the popular “Indian Bay” if you fancy. The last few kilometers of this trek takes you to the industrial area known as Galeota Point. It is essentially a peninsula type land formation and the islands most south-easterly peak. This area is significant to Trinidad and Tobago’s economy, as it stores a considerable amount of the country’s oil and gas reserves. Irrespective of this, the area is still frequented by wildlife. On this trek you may encounter a variety of birds and there is also a chance of Green Sea Turtle sightings.&nbsp; Galeota Point was originally called ‘Punta de Galera'. The name change took place in 1797 as part of the British takeover of the then colony. Leading the charge was Captain Fredrick Mallet of the Royal Surveying Engineers.&nbsp; Over the years, the area has suffered significant coastal erosion and is said to currently be half the size it was during the late 1700’s. By the early 1900’s, villagers have been known to have moved their houses further inland so as to avoid being engulfed by the sea. Some of the older villagers have even expressed their surprise that attributes of the point still exist today. The bay shortly after the industrial complex brings the trek to an end… well, for some! Those who wish to call it a day, can enjoy a salt water soak and even dabble in some exploration on the bare rock faces which encompass the bay.&nbsp; For the more adventurous and those who wish to get that much desired 'photo opp', the mission will continue about 1.5km further to the feature highlight of Table Rock. This is a unique and popular rock formation bearing resemblance to a table top out in the sea. It is frequented by fishing and outdoor enthusiasts.&nbsp; This segment takes you through a fairly well established trail climb with a very user friendly gradient. Getting back to the coast line, you will now be faced with a cliffy, rocky descent as we make our way down to Table Rock. This segment will require some technical aptitude which incorporates some single track; the CoolBlue team will guide and support you every step of the way!
