Tanzania has been recognized as unique among African nations in its tolerance for tribal, religious and racial differences. There are more than 132 distinct tribes in Tanzania and they are considered of equal value, without any tribe receiving favoritism. Tanzanians have learned the value of respecting differences and living in peace.
You'll engage in meaningful interaction and collaboration with your counterparts in Tanzania, including representatives from the East Africa Court of Justice; litigators from the VOICE Law Firm, the premier litigation firm in Arusha; and with faculty at the African Institute of International Law at Makumira University Campus, established in close collaboration with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. Discuss issues of common interest including environmental issues, dispute resolution and inheritance rights for women. Spend time at the School of St. Jude, a non-governmental organization (NGO) providing innovative educational services to the most disadvantaged children of Arusha. Take part in various school activities including a visit with older students looking into a career path in law and justice. You will also have a unique opportunity to ride the school buses home with students. Enjoy a fun barbeque dinner with some locals! Your journey also includes an open vehicle 2 day safari in Ngorongoro Crater staying at the Lions Paw Camp where frequent visitors include elephants, rhinos, lions, wildebeest and zebra.
