Pack your needles and join us for ten days of wool, weaving, and wonder across Scotland! Battenkill Textile Tours and KnittingTours.com have teamed up for a journey from Edinburgh to the Highlands and back. You’ll go behind the scenes at legendary mills like Johnstons of Elgin and Prickly Thistle, roll up your sleeves for a traditional tweed waulking (singing included!), and meet the sheep and Angora goats behind some of Scotland’s most beautiful yarns at Balmerino and Annfield Farms. Along the way you’ll take in Stirling Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Blair Castle, and Dundee’s stunning V&A Design Museum.
There’s plenty of hands-on making too. Learn Gansey knitting with Di Gilpin, unlock Deborah Gray’s Secrets, Illusions and Code technique, weave your own tartan coaster with Radical Weavers, and dig into the archaeology of Scottish knitting with Samira Hill. Wool and patterns are included in every workshop, so just bring your needles. With cozy 4-star hotels, lots of included meals, afternoon tea, a whisky tasting, and more than a few yarn shopping stops, all you need to do is relax, knit, and soak it all in. Come knit with us!
