About this trip

This transformational advance teacher training will be hosted by Joan in Goa, India, one of Joan’s favorite places in the world to offer trainings and retreats. This will be part one of Joan’s Yoga Alliance 300 Hour Teacher Training from The  Yoga School and will run in two parts. You will have the opportunity to complete the second half the following year in Goa or at another city around the world including Auckland and Los Angeles. You also have the option to join these two weeks and immerse yourself in your studies and enjoy all the exquisite nature that Goa offers.

This training course will include:

• How to advanced your asana - Enjoy long practices that will include workshopping advanced postures that you don't normal get to in a vinyasa flow class and understand how to make them accessible for you and your students.

•. Advanced pranayama and meditation - Each morning and afternoon practice will include pranayama and meditation helping you to develop a quieter practice that accesses the subtle layer of our five bodies.

•. Explore the subtle body and how to incorporate these layers into your practice and sequencing.

•. Understand therapeutics and how to make yoga accessible for everyone by learning how to work with injuries and chronic illness.

•. Restoratives - we will incorporate these powerful and quieter poses into daily practice and learn how to work with props and teach a quieter type of practice.

• Learn how to develop a self care program that includes daily Sadhana practice, healthy food, and how to incorporate Ayurvedic principles into your life.

•. Learning to sequence to all levels from the advance to the beginner yogi.

•  We will study the philosophy of yoga and how to integrate it into your teachings and practice so you can embody yoga.

•. How to align with your dharma and be authentic

• ,Learn to read bodies and explore the art of hands on adjustments that are appropriate to the individual.

• Teach with confidence!  There will be practice teaching sessions led by Joan.

This will also be a career path for teachers that have already taken their 200 Hour teacher training or who are already practicing and teaching and wish to continue on their journey.

Goa is the perfect place to relax and unplug from the western world and dive deep into your yoga and meditation practice.  The beaches are bright and vibrant and Goa offers a softer version of India but still with the richness and depth this spiritual culture offers.

Better than anything I could have imagined. Amazing group of people, skillful teaching by Joan who brought so much positive energy to the group, the best vegeterian and vegan food I have ever had, and gentle meditations to close the day. I will be looking out for any future retreats!
This trip was certainly the experience of a lifetime. We visited a holy structure nearly every single day, hiked, did yoga, and ate well. We had two wonderful facilitators that kept us safe and the trip comfortable (physically and emotionally). The scenery is beautiful in Nepal, and the yoga class every morning really grounds you in the timezone and keeps your metabolism active.

Joan is fantastic and I loved everything about this retreat. I really resonate with her teaching style and energy. She's grounded, knowledgable and a true inspiration, following her heart and her purpose. The vision board creation and intention setting workshops were powerful ways to reflect and move into the new year with positive energy. The retreat center was lovely and the food/chef was amazing! I look forward to attending another retreat or teaching training with Joan in the future. Thank you and Namaste :)
A yoga retreat to welcome a new year was just perfect! We nourished our body, mind and spirit with twice daily yoga, some meditation, and amazing food. Joan has quite a following and attracts some serious yogis but her practice is accessible to most everyone. As a very newbie I especially appreciated Joan’s approach. She builds to each advanced pose so you are sure to get the important fundamentals right. You stop where you are comfortable and learn from others as they move on. Thank you, Joan, for an incr dibble experience. Safe travels this year!

The setting was peaceful, the people warm, the food super, and the lessons (yoga, intentions, meditation) wonderful. As novice, I felt very comfortable with the more advanced members of the group. It has inspired me to practice more. Thank you Joan Hyman. I look forward to participating in future retreats.
