Join Fitrah Outdoors & Ta’leef Collective for a half-day wellness workshop at Muir Beach built around guided reflections on rebalancing your life — inwardly and outwardly.
Together we'll walk a winding coastal path, pause in a little-known rose garden, scan the Pacific horizon for whales from a cliffside lookout, and pray dhohr above one of the Bay's most breathtaking ocean views.
Between each stop, we'll gather for intentional reflections — drawing on what this thriving, balanced ecosystem teaches us about the balance we're each trying to cultivate in our own lives.
We’ll complete our wellness workshop with a tactile, hands-on oceanside exercise, crafting our own visions for how we want to step into the Islamic New Year with a newfound balance.
Throughout our time together, we'll have time to picnic, dip our toes in the sea, and simply breathe.
Families welcome. First-timers welcome. Come as you are.

Sulayman Christopher — Lead Guide & Founder, Fitrah Outdoors
Sulayman's love for the outdoors began through skating on frozen ponds, sledding down park hills, and playing in his childhood backyard in Madison, Wisconsin (or Teejop — "Four Lakes" — the ancestral area of the Ho-Chunk Nation). His passions include backcountry skiing, bikepacking, and gathering diverse people together in the outdoors to remember the Divine. Sulayman is the Founder of Fitrah Outdoors, Co-Founder of Muslim-Indigenous Circle, and Principal of Sea to Sea Consulting. He now resides in Berkeley (ancestral Ohlone territory) with his wife.
Thooba Samimi — Co-Guide, Ta'leef Collective
A native of the Bay Area, Thooba brings a wide-ranging set of skills and passions to the trail — from off-grid and micro-grid energy building to horseriding, fishing, hunting, archery, and bushcraft. She's also deeply curious about geology and the stories the land tells. Thooba has spent years as a youth mentor and teacher with WDMA, and draws daily inspiration from her family's Central Asian nomadic and hearty heritage — a lineage that shapes how she moves through the world and how she gathers community in it.
From the moment we gather until we wrap, all electronic devices — phones, smartwatches, tablets, cameras — will be collected and stored in a secure, weather-proof bag (or you may leave them in your vehicle).
Why? This is a unique opportunity to build connection — inwardly and outwardly — with other people, with creation, and to regenerate one's own fitrah.
We know this can feel uncomfortable at first. In our experience, the most skeptical participants often end up being the most grateful by the end.
Program guides and volunteers will have phones on them at all times in the event of an emergency, in'shaAllah.
Program staff will also take high-quality photos and videos throughout the day and share them with participants afterward, so you can stay fully present.
Accommodations can be made for extenuating circumstances (e.g. blood sugar monitoring). Please let us know in advance.
Please first ask fellow community members for a ride. If you have trouble finding transportation to Muir Beach, contact info@fitrahoutdoors.com.
