As expected, the yoga with Gopi was fantastic. The food at the center was great, as were all of the nearby beaches, daily opportunities for free time, the day trip to Sintra and the ambiance of the location. What did not work was being put in a room that was not what we paid for - a room with a private bath, as well as the haphazard transportation options from/to the airport and the day trip. In setting a container for any trip, the airport transfers needed to be included and organized in advance and the retreat leader (Gopi) needed to be onsite at arrival to ensure mistakes weren't made. I have all of the proof in terms of what we reserved and paid for so that's not an argument that I will tolerate. The program was about the divine feminine but the workshops were about grief, which came across as "winging it" rather than well laid out RELEVANT content. Yes, grief is present but NOT the main focus. At the last Gopi retreat, there were art projects, & other types of programs, as well as bodywork. Fortunately, the center owner knew of a really good body worker, and we were able to hire her privately. Overall, it was a good experience but the container needed to be much better set up from the beginning - not left to the retreat center owner. This made for a very rough, disorganized and overall start to the experience. The lack of organized transport led to 200+ messages from everyone in the group around arrival - again, not the way a real container for a spiritual retreat is established.
