This 6-day, 5-night retreat is for women and non-binary people of all racial identities who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women and who desire to go deeper into the pleasure of writing, with a focus on the erotic.
Our writer's retreat includes daily writing circles led by author and playright, Cheril N Clarke. The retreat includes themed workshops writing process with plenty of expansive free time for catching up on reading, finding your new favorite novel, and/or writing and reflecting in the most peaceful setting being cradled in the beauty of the nature of Costa Rica.
Our evenings together invite you to a variety of self and collective pleasure practices including a Cuddle Club, ancestral ecstatic dance, and more.
In addition to the daily writing workshops, this retreat also includes meals, a full-day beach excursion, mindfulness activities, yoga and gentle movement, nature walks, and much more. Optional add-on private services are available including 1:1 writing or book coaching, massages and other forms of body and energy work.

Upon registering for The Deep Jungle Pleasure Writer's Retreat Costa Rica, you will be contacted by our support team to give you all the information you need to make arrangements for your travel to Costa Rica and help you prepare for the retreat. All participants must obtain travel insurance. Please note that all Legacy Trips deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to another Legacy Trip within the same calendar year.
This trip is designed for women and non-binary people of all racial identities who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women who are in any stage of their writing journey and who:
consider themselves an adventure seeker, or least enjoy tropical environments and be open to all that nature (such as the beach, the rainforest, the jungle, and the creatures) has to show you in a 'pura vida' kind of way
want to be in a space with other writers in a tropical setting with guided writing sessions
desire plenty of alone writing time (with writing prompts provided)
are seeking guidance and support for their writing process
enjoy spending time with others who are in various stages of their writing journey
prioritize being a part of a loving writing community
Deposits for all Legacy Trips are non-refundable. The balance of the total cost of the trip, not including the deposit, is refundable in the event the participant requests in writing to cancel at least 30 days before the start of the trip they registered for. If the need to cancel arises, though the deposit is not refundable, it is transferable to another Legacy Trip within one calendar year. If the participant has paid more than the deposit, they have the option to put whatever monies they have already paid (minus the deposit) towards an upcoming Legacy Trip within one calendar year.

Our Facilitator
Cheril N. Clarke is a multifaceted writer whose body of work encompasses a unique blend of creative and business writing. Beginning her career as a creative writer, she has since written five novels, several novellas and short stories, multiple children's books, and award-winning stage plays (Asylum and Intimate Chaos). She has been featured in numerous publications and media outlets, including VoyageATL, The Philadelphia Women's Journal, Curve magazine, National Public Radio (NPR), The Princeton Packet, Philadelphia Gay News, Out In Jersey and Burlington County Times.
In the summer of 2020, Cheril made her songwriting debut with the sultry, neo-soul song "Your Touch." The track was written and produced by Cheril as C. Nicole and performed by a ghost singer.
As a business writer, Cheril is the founder of Phenomenal Writing, an executive communications agency that provides ghostwriting services to C-level executives and entrepreneurs. With a background deeply rooted in creative writing, Cheril has the unique ability to easily connect with audiences of all types and has written speeches for clients worldwide.
In spring 2023, she decided to bring her focus back to her first loves—poetry, fiction and music. Her latest creative releases include the spoken word album Drip; a sensual poetry collection entitled Candle Wax; and a novella collection entitled Deep Pleasure Vol I: Softer. Deeper. Wetter. (also available as individual novella ebooks). Cheril is currently working on the next installment of her Keyhole Chronicle series, Hard to Hold. To separate her erotic works from her women's fiction, she is introducing a new pen name, "C. Nicole," specifically for the former beginning in Spring 2026.
Our Host
Tina Strawn (she/they) is a joy and liberation advocate, racial and social justice activist, author of "Are We Free Yet? The Black, Queer Guide to Divorcing America." Tina is also the owner and host of the Speaking of Racism podcast and the heart of Tina's work is founding and leading Legacy Trips, immersive, 3-day antiracism weekends where participants visit historical locations such as Montgomery and Selma, AL, and utilize spiritual practices and other mindfulness based resources as tools to affect personal and collective change. Tina has three adult children, an ex-husband, an ex-wife, and an ex-country. She has been a full-time minimalist nomad since February 2020 and currently lives in Costa Rica. Tina travels the globe speaking, writing, teaching, and exploring where on the planet she can feel safe and free in her queer, Black, woman-identifying body.
