Ethiopia 2027: Ancient Kingdoms & Living Traditions 🇪🇹
Two Unforgettable Ethiopia Experiences. One Extraordinary Journey.
Join The Bearded Backpacker for an unforgettable adventure through Ethiopia, a country where ancient history, deeply rooted traditions, and extraordinary cultural diversity come together.
Choose between two incredible experiences: a six-day journey through Addis Ababa and Lalibela, or a ten-day expedition that continues into the remarkable Omo Valley.
Our journey begins in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia's vibrant capital, where we'll discover the country's fascinating history, bustling markets, ancient religious traditions, and world-famous coffee culture.
We'll visit the National Museum, home to Lucy, the famous 3.2-million-year-old fossil that transformed our understanding of human evolution.
From there, we'll journey to Lalibela, often called Ethiopia's "New Jerusalem," where 11 extraordinary rock-hewn churches were carved directly into the earth more than 800 years ago.
We'll experience one of the country's most important religious festivals, witnessing colorful processions, traditional white garments, sacred chanting, ceremonial blessings of water, and centuries-old Ethiopian Orthodox Christian traditions.
It's an opportunity to experience Ethiopia's living history and faith firsthand.
For those who want to explore even deeper, the adventure doesn't end in Lalibela.
After our first six days, we'll continue south for four additional days into the extraordinary Omo Valley, one of Ethiopia's most culturally diverse regions.
Here, we'll explore breathtaking landscapes, visit local communities, and learn about the unique histories, customs, and ways of life of some of southern Ethiopia's diverse ethnic groups.
Through meaningful interactions and locally guided experiences, we'll discover another side of Ethiopia, one that contrasts beautifully with the ancient Christian heritage and bustling cities of the north.
Having spent weeks exploring Ethiopia myself, I want to share the experiences that made me fall in love with this remarkable country, while giving you the opportunity to form your own connections and perspectives.
Whether you choose our six-day cultural journey or continue with us for the full ten-day expedition, you'll experience a country whose history, faith, and cultural heritage are unlike anywhere else.
