This tour runs Saturday to Saturday. Offering five swim days for guests, which occur Monday through Friday. Sundays in Tonga are rest days—all businesses, including airports—are closed, and whale swims are not allowed. Guests take the Sunday after arrival to rest and get ready for their swim week.

Each boat will take six clients. Tonga law allows four people in the water at a time with a certified whale swim guide. 

Four guests will swim; two will stay out and guests will rotate equally throughout the day. Having fewer people on the boat offers guests almost 33% more swim time than other boats that take 8-12 people.

This trip runs out of Mystic Sands

Mystic Sands is one of the nicest resorts in Vava’u — just check out their amazing reviews on Trip Advisor. The resort is on a private beach and has a pier for picking up guests for whale-watching trips.

Surrounded by tropical gardens, Mystic Sands is a 10-minute drive from town, with is a beachfront restaurant located next door. Hot breakfast is included in all tours out of Mystic Sands. Lunches are provided on all whale swim days.

The resort is located right on the water, giving guests access to kayaking, SUPs, snorkeling and other water activities. Pick up for the whale swims happens right at the resort’s dock, making things a bit easier.

Guests can choose from twin share or single occupancy, with the price based on twin sharing. 

Guests are advised to arrive at VAV (Vava'u, Tonga) through NAN (Nadi, Fiji) on Fiji Airlines. For guaranteed pricing and seat availability, we recommend booking from our designated group block. Tonga does not allow business to operate on Sundays. All airports are closed and whale swims are not allowed. Guests take this day to acclimate to their new time zone and get ready for the whale swim week ahead!

Guest will embark on their whale swim boats at 6:45 am. The government of Tonga allows all boats in Tonga to search & swim with whales in a 7 hour window.
