      About this trip

Spending time with gorillas in the wild is the greatest wildlife encounter on Earth according to David Attenbrough. Who are we to argue with the great maestro himself?

Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa whose diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Its abundant wildlife includes chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary.

The remote, unspoilt parks teem with wildlife such as the famed East Africa big game species of lion, elephant and buffalo as well as primates and over a thousand species of birds.

Uganda, and its neighbour Rwanda, share the unique responsibility of conserving a population of critically endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, funded in no small part through the trekking fees levied on visiting guests.

Mountain gorillas are one of the world’s most endangered species, with only some 600-700 left in the wild. These magnificent animals live in small troops, each within its own defined boundaries and each with several females and their young being led by a single dominant male – the Silverback. Distinct from their cousins who live in the open plains and lowland forests of West Africa, mountain gorillas are normally found in at an altitude of between 1500m and 3650m.

From start to finish, this was an incredible trip. From the accommodations, to the transportation, food and beverage, and of course activities and excursions, everything was mapped out wonderfully, and everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful the entire duration of the trip. The only comment I will make about the excursions (hot air balloon, helicopter, etc) is that I wish we were able to sort those a bit sooner and get confirmations sooner as well, but otherwise the hot air ballon experience was completely seamless and I enjoyed it so much with the rest of the crew who attended! Jeffrey is an AMAZING host, photographer, and human with a heart of gold. I would definitely book another photography trip with him in the future, and will 100% recommend his trips to friends. It was a trip of a lifetime and I'll remember it forever!

An exhilarating, exhausting voyage of discovery, the limits of personal strength both physical and mental tested and endured. I would recommend Anna, our amazing leader in a heartbeat as she sorted through a myriad of issues to help us achieve our goal to climb Kilimanjaro. An amazing time was had in the company of amazing women.
